I'll be sharing Episodes 4-6 in a few days. I obtained a brand new PC which I am setting up today and getting everything transferred over and things re-installed. A sorely needed upgrade! Thank you for watching. Check my latest Community post to see all the reactions that are coming to the channel. Cheers! ✌
I honestly think it one of the best shows they made. It's different to the others, and just feels more like a genuinely fun adventure than the rest. Wandavision and Loki are slightly more unique, and slightly better in various ways. But they also feel like more of the movies but longer, even though they also have unique aspects. This show felt more like going back to the Netflix style shows when they first were released, and just puts a smile on your face.
It's fun, but unlike Wandavision and Loki, it isn't quite as deep. I'm not saying it's bad, though, I really don't think I have anything negative to say about it, just a bit fewer positive things than the others.
I loved the intro of this series, in which if you look carefully, you just see all the growing up of the little girl, all the training and in which disciplines she trained in over the years. It was a really smart intro to tell all the character's background.
@38:55--if you read lips at all, you will note that when asked "Who got him then?" Clint actually says "Natasha Romanoff" which I thought was an amazing touch.
Hawkeye surely could see little Kate in the opening, even though he wouldn't have cared. How do I know? Because Kate saw HIM with her naked eyes, and Hawkeye has this incredible vision at a distance, so logically he should have able to see her, even though she may not have been in sunlight. Because he's Hawkeye, and that's what he does.
When I found out in college they did the same thing in high school and made you take a PE (errr Kineseology) requirement I was not a happy camper, until I found out they had so many offerings to choose from. I wanted to do something that seemed cool and fun, but also something rather unique that you wouldn't normally come across. I chose fencing. And as it turns out, it is one of the rare sports that if you are short (I'm 5'1") you are not at an immediate disadvantage (especially in foil), and once you know what you are doing, you actually gain advantages. Started attending the Fencing Club to get more experience, started taking lessons from the team coach, went to open competitions... ended up making the foil team my junior year.
Jack is hiding something but they don't reveal it in the show and probably aren't going to since there's unlikely to be any more seasons. He's an actual character in the comics going all the way back to the 60s called The Swordsman, a sometimes hero, sometimes villain the same as Hawkeye used to be.
29:54 He couldn't communicate with Laura while he was doing the Ronin thing because she was in the blip...one of the reasons he was DOING the Ronin thing.
Hey Kaielle. This was one of my favorite installments of Phase 4. Like you I seem to enjoy Jeremy Renner’s portrayal as Clint Barton (Hawkeye/Ronin) more than most others. Episode 3 was especially awesome for several reasons, but it’s not even my favorite episode. Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.
"You know who wasn't there? Antman." Ahh, Clint, but he was, he was there with Tony and Steve from 2023 while you were off watching Natasha fling herself off a cliff. "You're a superhero in real life. This is as close as I'm ever gonna get to being one." Dude, you're a _firefighter_ . Yeah, I get that you probably don't think you're a hero, but that's because real heroes don't. Clint certainly doesn't. "I'm not a role model." You don't get to decide whether or not you're a role model. If someone decides you're theirs the only thing you get to decide is what kind of role model you'll be. I love watching superheroes be good parents, it's so extraordinarily rare. We have approximately two in the MCU, Clint and Scott. I guess Tony counts, too, though we only see him being a dad for about five or six minutes.
I thought it was really cool how Clint pulled one of Nat's old moves by purposely getting himself kidnapped when really he was the one in charge of the situation until Kate came and messed it up, LOL.
When this came out, I was doing a stint on the night shift at my work, temporary deal for a few months but I absolutely loved it. 4X10 schedule so I got three days off in a row. Best sleep of my life, so much less stress, and I felt like I had more time during the day than when I worked the day shift. Part of this deal was that on my days off I still had to stay up late in order to make sure my sleep schedule was consistent. So I'm up until 3-4 AM on my days off trying to find things to occupy my time (like I said, I felt like I had a lot more time with this schedule). And the first of my three days off was always the day Hawkeye came out. So it's the first thing I'd watch at night when everyone went to sleep. I have issues with the show, but damn if it doesn't take me back to that those few months and how fun that was. It's always going to get a few extra points from me just for that
I don't know if you've ever seen any of the Transformers movies but Hailee Steinfield was in a spin-off movie called Bumblebee. Absolutely worth checking out even without seeing any of the other movies.
“Pizza Dog” was the favorite thing from the solo Hawkeye comic they kept. Comic we’re excited to know Pizza Dog was in it. So was I. Highlight of the series.
I was on my high school fencing team. My greatest achievement was earning the 2nd alternate spot to the Junior Olympic Fencing team. Sadly, I wasn't needed. It was fun. I kind of miss it.
1:47 Love that we get a little Battle Of New York here, such a (mostly) fun throwback. 4:20 (Love that that's the time-stamp for this bit🤣). Fun Fact: There's a 38-minute (possibly) full version of this on TH-cam. I'd link it but that get comments flagged, but it's an easy search. 38:32 The way Clint roasts Kate is hilarious. 😂
That pseudo-oneshot from inside the car is insane! I'm not usually big on the way things are filmed, but this stood out to me straight away on the first watch. Glad you're enjoying this. Hope you're enjoying DareDevil too. Catch you for the next one 🦅👁🎯
Yay! I was one of those looking forward to you getting to Hawkeye. Unashamedly my favourite MCU show just, just, juuuust ahead of Wandavision. Its a refreshing break from the cosmic chaos of Marvel, getting back to street level heroes.
I'm already looking forward to the next episodes! This is one of my favorite MCU shows. Sure, WandaVision and Loki are amazing, and Moon Knight is delightfully weird, but this one is just good fun
I actually used to fence a little and did stage combat during my Drama degree. Not so much that I can make any claims about how their form is on this show, but most actual fencers and swordfighters will tell you that most onscreen swordfighting is needlessly flashy to look cinematic. Legit fencing is about getting a hit squarely on centre-mass, parrying and riposting with the minimal amount of movement and effort - anything else is just flash for the camera.
Corridor Digital actually did an entire short film called To The Death (including bts on their Corridor Crew channel) in order to deconstruct the concept of lightsaber combat, based on choreography by stunt coordinator Luke LaFontaine, in which they rethink the fundemental mechanics of both the combat and the visuals. Highly recommended.
Hawkeye ended up being like my favorite or maybe 2nd favorite Disney show depending on the day. Which was a big surprise because Clint is kind of considered the "boring" avenger imo (not to me, but I know I've heard this opinion around). But the show and he were awesome
Awesome! My second-favourite MCU show so far (behind only Wandavision). Hawkeye takes a lot of crap but he's a great character and Jeremy Renner is an excellent actor. Cheers Kaiielle, you have perked up my Monday considerably. 🥃☮❤
KingPin’s right hand man is Wesley. Which is a great guess! Totally follows the Marvel formula for hinting at a larger connected universe. I will not be spoiling. Just giving you props for understanding how Marvel likes to tie in and build anticipation
I fenced foil in High School and College. My college (Caltech) coach was actually a former Olympic fencer (though at the time, he had quite a beer belly).I was never that good. I was more of a scholar than an athlete.
God, I love the Hawkeye show so much. I loved WandaVision and Loki and a bunch of others but typically WanaVision and Loki get the bulk of the praise and as Peter Griffin would say "it insists upon itself".
Bro. I forgot to forewarn you, bro. The Hawkeye series should be viewed as a drinking game, bro. Can you guess which word, bro, should be the one you take a drink on? Bro. I die laughing anytime they say it. (Reply 'bro' if you want Kaiielle to take a shot.) ;)
It's still absolutely crazy to me that they did Rogers: The Musical as a joke about how tacky and inappropriate it is to make a musical about a major tragedy like that, so soon after when it took place...and then they actually put on the show unironically IRL at Disney California Adventure. Disney Parks has made a lot of tone-deaf choices over the last few years, but that one really stands out to me.
I just meant that, within the context of the show, it triggered a PTSD reaction in the character. That's the only reason that scene exists. So I don't understand wanting to turn it into a real stage show because, for me, all I'd be thinking during it is, "Oh, this is the show that hurt that character I like."
Is it just me, or is there something really shady about the way Kate's dad died off screen? Am I the only one who thinks that the Chautari invasion was just fortuitous, and Kate's mother took advantage?
Always thought this was a good show, nothing extraordinary but a good way to pass time. It is considered bad when comparing to the comic it takes it most ideas from (Matt Fraction and David Aja from 2012), but I guess the original is always there. It's fine but the people familiar with the original commonly see this as waste of potential
Kind of a bummer that you’re waiting for Florence Pugh…it was a bit of a surprise, pleasantly so, but still. And I know how you dislike spoilers…don’t read the comments…people don’t know or care that you haven’t finished the show yet.

I didn't mind (much) that Rogers the Musical was dumb and obviously a parody, but what I do mind is that the lyrics weren't lyrics that would have been written for that musical, they're lyrics written for a sitcom audience to summarize a musical. They crammed the character bios into a number that looks like it would have been the finale, they summarized the premise as if you didn't just watch the damn thing, etc etc. It's a lazy form of humour that I found distracting.

I adore the Track suit Mafia. "Bro, I found her" hits me so good.

12:02 Love this scene, because the wine bottles not breaking is super realistic, unlike most fight scenes where they are involved, in movies and TV.
Kate's drawing is similar to Clint's comic costume.

Nice. 2nd best MCU TV show. Hawkeye deserved much more throughout the MCU and this show does him justice. Great fun.
I have a feeling you're going to love this series!
