Check your closest university's surplus property! They have very nice dual tray laser printers! I scored one for $20. They had a much fancy one for $50. And yes, it works!

Oh my goodness. You are my kind of gal!! All the Type A listed out, visual information, organized and precise... I needed this today! I had watched a video from someone else I subscribed to about this and your video came up next. I was driving as I was listening to you and this video was exactly what I needed. I am at a crossroads in life - working at tractor supply right now but hating every minute of it... I didn’t pay my way through 4yrs of state university to stand here and run a damned register 8hrs every day. As I sit here crying because here I am, yet again, pulling in for my shift and giving my soul away for the weekend while my family gets together without me, I am sooo ready to do this. I needed someone who would explain it in an organized fashion and this is it!! Thank you for doing this video!

For the printer - One suggestion may be a leased printer. This would be a business-class laser printer. Companies that typically do a lease printer would be Ricoh. Typically maintenance and toner are covered by the maintenance agreement.

I'm a notary in Ohio. I never did anything with my commission, it was a requirement at a job I had. My commission expires in April. I've decided to renew and become a loan signing agent. I'm currently waiting on my BCI background check to come in. Once I receive my background check, I have to do one hour of continuing education, and submit a fee to Ohio Secretary of State. I plan to take the LSS Six Figure Course.

Kayla...everything you said is exactly what I did earlier this year and then some. I also joined the American Society of Notaries and took their all states general notary course (cheaper than NNA and similar info). my state doesn't require training. Last month I was desperate for a notary journal that had only one entry per page for privacy reasons and bought 3 from Amazon! I also recommend getting NSA E&O insurance which is different and protects you for the loan signings part not the notarization. Having both types is a must.

If you are a signing agent you should NOT go through the NNA. They only cover notaries, not loan signing agents. Several people, including me, noticed this after purchasing. It's great that you're getting a better insurance plan. Please guys, if you are going to be a signing agent, get SIGNING AGENT E&O INSURANCE. A good way to tell the difference is if there is a deductible, my plan and all of the plans I researched had deductibles of $500-$1,000 whereas the NNA's Insurance didn't have a deductible. Please contact your Secretary of State to inquire about the best local insurance companies.

In CA, the Secretary of State is so backed up with notary applications, that I will not be processed until January 2021. I took and passed the notary exam on 9/25/20! AZ processing times sound much faster! I spent $630 on the National Notary Association (NNA) 6 hour mandatory class, live scan fingerprints, photo, one year NNA membership, 100K E&O, $15K bond, and notary supplies (Journal, 2 notary stamps (A big and a mini stamp), thumbprinter, and thumb strips). Another Tip: A TWSBI Eco fountain pen and a 4.5ml bottle of Noodler's Baystate Blue ink for it costs $50 up front, and will last for YEARS, as well as help with carpel tunnel syndrome if you have it, or if you don't mind a little more effort when it comes to maintenance the 4.5ml bottles of Noodler's Baystate Blue comes with it's own eyedropper fill fountain pen (which writes just fine, just not as fun to use or look at).
EDIT: Recommend getting a Fine Point or Extra Fine Point nib as should not bleed through 99% of all paper.

@kaylabieber I, no longer provide pens to borrower. Since the appointments are made several days in advance, so I notify the borrowers “due to COVID restrictions, I’m no longer allowed to provide blue pens”. It’s the borrowers responsibility to use their own ink pen.

Kayla, girlfriend, this was a great video! It answered some of my biggest questions...if my printer will be enough (for now it will, it’s pretty heavy duty), whether we would only use legal paper, and other questions about various office supplies (and thank goodness I have all of this) and the questions I had about insurance, etc.
Oh, and I’d love to see what you’ve done for marketing. I think I’m going to go ahead and become a notary signing agent here in Georgia and then just transfer my business to Florida next year. I’d planned to Move to Florida in March and was going to wait until I got down there to get my license and start my business, but the way the economy has been lately I think I’m gonna have to put the move off a couple of months.
Thanks! I hope you have a lovely week! 😊

@@kaylabieber4663 I was thinking last night, how about doing a short video with timelines, e.g. how long it takes to complete the LSS course, how long it takes on average to get certified and licensed, how long it takes to start getting business after you register with signing companies, how long before money starts coming in, etc? Just a thought because it’s something that I’m wondering about and think other people may be also curious. Thanks and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks so much, Kayla! I live in Arizona and sent my notary application to the SOS the first week of December. The SOS warned me that it would take four weeks for them to process my application. In the meantime, I signed up for the LSS - 6 figure course. I work an FT job so I study the LSS on my days off. I have completed 80% of the LSS training in three weeks and already passed my LSS certification. After I received my commission in January, I will pass my NNA certification and background check, and get my E&O insurance. Your videos are extremely helpful. Keep them coming!!!

Thank you for the info. Over 20 years ago I thought about becoming a Mobile Notary. My friend talked me into becoming a Realtor instead. I have health issues and can't work 40 plus hours per week. I am moving across the state and want to work but on those bad days be able to stay home. So Notary signing agent seems like the perfect new career for me. I already know the loan documents but probably have to take the signing agent class anyway. What do you think?

I have been following Mark for a year and a half lol! I have been a notary for three years however I just got my NNA certification in January, 2021. I did not know I needed it and last year before coronavirus I got my errors and omissions, because I’m in with a title company and they want me to be certified. Also I signed up with some agencies and it’s taken several months to get in with those agencies and that’s why I’m stuck! Ugh. Thank you for all your help!
