You're really one of the very few known tekken players I actually like. I record every match i get pissed off at, and when I watch them later I often find the answer was literally right in front of my face the entire time, just hidden behind a big wall of bad habits that I didn't even know I had to begin with and I'm a Lars main, (Don't Judge Me) and he doesn't really have a lot of room for mistakes. I'm getting there tho.

I like the autopilot remarks. I started playing the game offline, where these sort of habits get punished quite quickly. Then when I started playing online, I noticed I could afford those in early ranks. Even worse, it was better to do that, because people wouldn't respect "unusual" mixups and would just push buttons. My point is that it's easy to develop those autopilot strings/flowcharts online, because it can seem efficient and/or easy.

  • @iGrimmzy
    @iGrimmzy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I've been learning at a slower rate in T7, recently. Admittedly, I've neglected training mode and just run a few hours of scrimmage matches with a buddy of mine who is relative in skill. I noticed I connect more hits and see better chaining possibilities that I wouldn't have seen prior. I also just thought that now I'm far past basics, the learning curve is much deeper, so I expected it would take much more effort before I can do something like, a 70-80% combo. I don't ever get frustrated, though. I genuinely enjoy the tough competition. I have felt myself get a bit salty at an L during a set, but it honestly passes for me within a minute or two.

Thanks for this video. Luckily I never feel salty, I just enjoy a good match and try to record matches where I lose and figure out what I did wrong (chess taught my that attitude). I like thinking of it as a fast paced, brutal puzzle with many variables first, and fighting someone else second. But I have only ever played Dragunov, so think I will learn a few other characters for a while and stick to player matches for a good while, get new friends to spar against and learn from and keep up the usual practising of fundamentals. Thanks again for the always fun, and often very helpful content. God helg fra Norge!

It helps a lot to record your games and take some time off to watch them over with a critical eye. This greaty improves your self-awareness, and also this helps with specific match ups as well. Any moves, strings, mixups or sequences that give you a hard time, figure out whether they can be punished, ducked, low parried, backdashed/whiff punished, etc.

Trying a new character really helped me out in advancing my main after being stuck in low orange for months. I main hwo and picked up kazuya (because of you actually) and their play styles are just so different that it forced me to relearn the game and see it totally differently than I used to. When I went back to hwo after about a month of exclusively playing kazuya I immediately did better and got genbu in like two days. This is hard to do though because I wanted to give up on kazuya at first and just go back but if you stick with it then it can really improve your gameplay overall

excellent - &*^king excellent video, AS USUAL. I was on the fence about picking up Lars, BECAUSE he is lower tier, in order to work on my fundamentals. Now I will definitely pick him up. Every good Tekken instructor (Aris, Frame Whisperer, cutcc, etc.) says virtually the same thing on this subject matter. This is some seriously sage advice. This video belongs in a Tekken Necronomicon, or secret 70"s type Shaw Bros. Kung Fu manual.

The ranks system does have pity points - when you win you gain more points then you would have lost if you lost the match. So, even if you are not good at the game you will eventually reach high ranks. If I remember correctly only the last 8 ranks do not award you pity point - only those ranks reflect actual skill. Other ranks reflects the time you spent on the game.

    HOW TO BLOCK SEEABLE LOWS?
Play with friends in ur level or higher who uses bryan and law, first play non stop with bryan, tell him to do snake edge and orbital heel as mix up evrytime. If u can manage that then u can try to block law's dragon tail, its much harder than bryan and difficult to see. After that maybe miguel's
    HOW TO LEARN SIMPLE PUNISH?
I find t6 or t5 to be better at practicing how to punish bcoz t7 lacks offline ghost battle. Put ultra hard and try to make ur char tekken god or lord, u'll eventually learn that u cant beat high ranked cpu without punishing them. Also cpu always finish their strings so u'll have to duck punish many moves, also low parry certain strings which is not punishable on block.
After learning basic punish and blocking seeable lows,u r ready to play against human opposition and with trial and error, adjustments to ur punishment and choice of moves. Btw becoz of lack of ghost battles in t7 and my laziness, i still haven't finished studying the t7 cast

I feel like it has helped me improve already, and I kinda figured out that I was a little too salty lately with my Lei. He is so complex that if you get really pissed off it becomes easy to forget his vast move set and become predictable. I'm so used to just opening a match with Razor Rush then into Crane Dance and I've suddenly realized that's not the best sequence.
How do I go about setting up and hour of coaching with Lei? I'm not sure what your rates are but I would love time on Discord or something. I feel like I've hit a plateau even when I'm not salty.

Learn Overall Concept of each character then you can learn advance details such as frame data.

    You dont win because:
1.) You dont lab your character, practicing for hours in practice mode.
2.) You dont consider spacing, and realize how important it is.
3.) You dont know frame data
4.) You dont know how to punish
5.)and your to concerned with winning and not learning.
Tips: try to play using only 10 moves. Perfect every single 1 of those moves. Timing, spacing, frame data how and when to use it.
You need: solid ws punish, good jab punish, solid safe 16 to 19 frame mid poke, solid 13 to 15 frame poke, -10 to -16 frame block punisher
Heavy mid to punish lows like laws dragon tail and eddys slippery kicks.
A move to hit ling out aop and eddy relax
    A homing move.
You know your top 10 moves. Only use them until you master you characters other moves.
Also playing against the computer helps with creativity. There is nothing wrong with playing the computer. Its the best way to practice movement and juggles.
