Just a tip for you kids out there who wanna buy this. I got my Powkiddy X55 two weeks ago and it came with JELOS version 20230831. I immediately updated via WiFi to 20230919. Shortly after, I noticed that PS1 games had audio stutters all over the place except for light 2D PS1 titles. I tried everything including switching emulators but it didn't help. I also tried flashing 0919 to the SD card from scratch but it didn't help either.
Then a TH-camr (Jacek Rusin) who tests the X55 a lot helped me. After some futility, he said he's using 20230903. I tried that version and all the PS1 audio issues went away. Somewhere between firmware 0903 and 0919, something got messed up and it's killing PS1.
So, if you get an X55, take note of this.
I'm currently having issues right now. I've tried flashing the drive and now it is saying that there it is unable to find flash system. I managed to get it working but then I noticed all my library has been cleared and then it went back to the error of unable to find flash system.
@@naimnorhadi4374 what do you mean? Please provide more details like which app you're using, which microSD is getting corrupted, etc.
Hey there,I’m not sure exactly what you mean here. Did you format the SD card. If it is the sd card that came with the drive, it’s not the best quality and doesn’t handle being formatted very well. With those sd cards that come with the device I just add and remove roms but never format them. Anyway, I’m not sure that’s what you were referring to.
@@adinwalls So I tried flashing the TF1 card, and when I tried booting up the software it is saying "unable to find /flash/SYSTEM". Are you saying that I need to buy an SD card and try installing the software on the new card? I was doing this since I've seen many videos saying that it is recommended that we connect the TF1 card and try flashing the system with an updated file on their JELOS website.
@naimnorhadi4374 hey there what are you flashing onto the sd card?
Great video! My X55 is coming soon and I’m going to follow this guide.
I'll spend my Sunday doing all these things, thank you for sharing! It will definitely improve my experience with my X55
Bought x55 recently, truly excited for my device!
It’s an excellent deal. For anyone wanting a large screen on a budget this is the best option right now.
My apologies, I left the audio processing on for the button clicking and audio test.
Love the content! When ps2 emulation hits the x55 price that's when we know we will have peaked
Hehe so true
My dream man... we're getting there, PS2 has a lifetime of good content to enjoy 😊
How do you make it full screen ive tried everything but no luck, and am unable to turn the background off during gameplay
Is it possible to save the Retroarch configuration and use it in addition to the Emulatio station configuration? I want use setting which are not in the ES available., But after resart the game the setting switch back to default.
I've got the newest build JELOS 20231003 but my Nintendo DS games are freezing dead after a few minutes (to the point where I have to reset as I can't do anything) it's been happening with AMIGA games too and Saturn after adding them and they were ok at first, others like n64 dreamcast, ps1 etc are fine but I want to play the ones that are freezing, somone suggested going back to an older build but I can't find any older builds online, any advice what might be causing this and possible fix? thanks.
Hi... thanx for the video... but my powkiddy doesn't recognise 3do amiga500 and amiga 1200 what can do?p
So glad I found a SA TH-camr doing this kind of content, and it happens to be for the emulator I desperately want, the X55 is still a definite for me.
Yes. Your comment makes me think the X55 is probably one of the best deals for South Africa. With cheap shipping from Powkiddy it’s a great deal if you’re willing to wait.
You can fill the shoulder buttons with hot glue which deadens the clickiness dramatically. There is a video here on TH-cam that shows how.
Does the console have Amiga games pre-installed?
My HDMI out to the tv will not show the home menu. Is it because i need to update?
Where do I get a screen protector for the Powkiddy X55 that fits perfectly.
The only place I know of is Powkiddy directly.
how did you map the joystick for the PS1 ? and to remember it for all ps1? thanks
There’s an option to set your analogue stick in the button mapping section. And then you save your configuration as I did in the video to save your button mapping.
I spent $129 on a "fully loaded" version of this and while the rom set is definitely missing some things (no atari at all? No turbografx 16 only PC Engine?) It was totally worth $129. Beautiful screen 1000s of games. I grew up on NES, SNES and Genesis and such so this is perfect for me.
I’m glad you are enjoying it
@@adinwalls just spent the last few hours adding 100s of roms including all of the TG16 set and a lot of Mario games from Nintendo (they cut all the Mario games out but left Zelda?!) Added all the Atari games.... a few PSX, DC and N64 games that I wanted.
Tbh. I really wanted this for the 8 bit/16 bit and arcade games the most. I still cant believe this thing was only $130. I could spend the rest of my life and never play 1/4 of the games on this thing lol. Its amazing what theuve done with handhelds these days
@@pleasuretokillwhat website did you get the ROMs from ?
@@ZaidElwardjust search for roms there are many roms multiple console Rom sites to find 😏
A doubt. I have burned the last image of Jelos and when I start the console only Pico, Music and All Games appears. I don't know why I can't get the microSD 2 emulators or the roms. Do you know wath I should to have? Thanks
What I did was formatted my micro sd exfat, inserted it on the x55, let it create the folders, and then I put my roms in. Idk if it matters, I am on the latest Sep JelOS.
That how it lloks after an update?
For Pokémon games is there a setting to allow link trading between 2 x55?
Not sure on that. I THINK RetroArch has this feature so it is possible.
Can you do one with the powkiddy rk2023?
I actually never ordered the RK2023. At the time of launch I assumed it was one of Powkiddy’s cheap and nasty devices and never thought of it again until people started saying they live it!😊
Can you put pico-8 on this device easily? Thinking about getting this as a first device for my son, and making a game with him. Thanks!
Yes you can either emulate them via RetroArch or you should be able to install the Pico8 system on here (I haven’t tested it on this device)
Can I add other emulators to play C64 / Amiga and MS-DOS games?
When you buying with 128gb you have already all of them , I've got and I love to play amiga 500 is almost 1100 games
How did you modify the themes?
Hey there. I didn’t. Just used to stock theme.
Some games are very dark like 007 golden eye. Anyone else have this problem and can it be fixed?
Do these already come preloaded with the games?
Yes, just select the one with a games card when you buy
I purchased without an SD card. Can anyone tell me where I can find an image for this to add to an SD card ?
If you insert a blank card and insert it into TF2 it should populate the card with the necessary folders. Then just add your bios and Roms.
That’s an interesting portable game console for retro gaming. Is it worth getting for playing games on the down time? How do you download the games directly into the Powkiddy x55 ? I’d like to see how it transfers the games from the computer 💻.
Hi there you can’t download games directly to the device. Simply take out SD2/TF2 and plug it into your computer and transfer your roms to the correct folder.
Also explain how the SD2 card works for uploading games from a PC/ Mac OS. Thanks .
@@adinwallsI did that folder to folder by name/or sytem and inserted again to the card slot #2 and no luck what i did wrong? I mean after transfer rooms what it have to be done for the rooms to appear and load in each system?
What is the largest SD card that can be used with the X55??
Powkiddy sell them with up to 256gb cards. Technically it should handle more but I am not sure if there are any limitations with firmware or hardware to limit the sd card size.
Does it come with capcom vs marvel 2 already installed?
Mine yes 😊
Does JELOS include a video media player app?
I don’t think so but not sure now
@@adinwalls Not having the video player feature won't stop me from purchasing one but it's a feature I like.
How do I add the bigger game titles like vice city gta and other titles? Pls help me anyone that has experience
PS2? Because this device won’t play ps2.
i've just bought the x55 but it has Jelos on it which is missing many vital features of Emuelec. Does anyone know how to get Emuelec on this device and which version to install?
I don’t think EmuElec is available for this. JelOS is a fairly comprehensive build. What features are you missing?
@@adinwalls thanks, but I checked out TechDweebs review of the x55 and he said his came with Emuelec. With Jelos, there is no Bezel support, no way to download new themes and I can't rotate the screen 90 degrees for vertical games. All these are vital features for me.
Mine never shipped with Jelos, it was some sort of emulation station (like emuelec) but it was awful. But yes Jelos isn’t set up natively with bezels. I’m not sure about setting it up for vertical. You at need to contact the Jelos guys or the X55 section on the retro handhelds discord.
@@Curryking32000 Mine just arrived with Emuelec and i'm going to flash it to jelos since emuelec doesnt have moonlight support
Help! Could somebody help me? I have no sound on the roms when i start them… the work perfekt but no sound.
I hate to ask but is the volume turned up? The buttons are reversed on this device. You may be inadvertently turning the volume down instead of up.
Is there an easy way to add games to this? I recently bought it and no pokemon games on it :(
Yup just add them to the correct folder on the SD card.
I bought a used x55 boots up tk jelos quickly and navigates the gui with ease but when i load a game, it says on the bottom left corner “zed controller not configured” does anyone know how to fix this issue?
Are the controls working?
Yes. They work in the gui but not in game emulator. I have to reboot to get out and back to gui.
Oh then you just need to map your controller within the emulator. If the game is being played with RetroArch, get into the Input menu u and map the controls.
Thanks. I appreciate your help.
@@adinwallsquick fyi if anyone has same issue as mine. Once in retroarch, the control will not work until it is configured so you won't be able to navigate the retroarch interface. It was necessary to connect a USB keyboard to the x55 USB input using a USB C otg adapter. Once in retroarch input menu, using the keyboard to navigate to the individual input assignments, you will have to hit enter on the keyboard and then press the button on the controller for several seconds until the button is recognized. Don't forget to save the controller setting on the input menu then save configure setting as well. Also make sure the hot key is assigned to the select button.
Is it true that when you add games a second time to the second SD card, the X55 and Windows would no longer see the SD card?
It’s not that that will definitely happen it’s just that sometimes the SD cards aren’t the best quality. Although it’s almost an urban legend at this point because I have eased a few of these cards for an extended period with no issues. There’s just always that risk.
Thanks, dude. My X55 just came in today. The system microSD is a Kioxia 16GB (hopefully genuine). The games microSD is ',Seapiy ' 32GB, which I'll replace anyway.
Did you add Atari 7,800 emulator? I have my and it does not have it.
All the cores are preloaded.
Can you make a video how to work with cores? I just have one and I update with Jelos and I put rooms in the 2nd sd card and i inseted again after a long time copying and paste and the rooms are not loading, i can't even see the directories, i need to follow a tutorial.
How you sign in or create an username and password for scraper?
I ca't do scrappiing it says: errir of logging, verify the identificants utilisateurs, is in french
I have and I love this device
Great. Yes it’s one of my favs of 2023.
When i bought it it only came with 35 games and most of them don’t even work how do I solve this issue?
Do I need to update it? And if yes then how?
@@dimplesbraveyes that can’t be right I think you may have a problem with it the smallest Rom version has at least 10,000 games
Where did you buy yours from. Please check if there are Roms in the Roms folder
Hmmm... A family member on fathers day? Wonder who that could be?
I recently received my RP3+ plus and I have to say that I am extremely disappointed in how small the screen feels. It just doesn't do any game justice. Previously I had been playing games on a very small screen (Q40) and my cell phone and both of them felt more fun. This larger screen looks like what I am looking for. I keep thinking about the X28 as well but X816 chipset isn't really powerful enough and I think that I am preferring linux to android for its streamlined experience.
Well the X55 is MUCH less powerful than the RP3+ and the quality overall is significantly inferior aswell. I’d say the X28 is a good compromise.
@@adinwalls Yeah, I know it's less powerful. What I was getting at is that since X816 isn't really powerful enough to play ps2 and GameCube games well I might as well just pass at even trying to play them and go with something cheaper. I also want to try another Linux handheld to see how I like it compared to Android which takes too much effort to get looking and feeling good. Q90 feels soo much better to me than RP3+ with minimal setup.
@@adinwalls I very much appreciate your opinion and reviews though! Very helpful!
He looks like Dr. Oz
I suppose I do
Not a single game works straight out the box
If that’s the case there’s definitely something wrong with your device
@@adinwalls damnit .. I hoped that wasn't it. I'm fully ready to accept I'm inept, an there's a simple solution
If nothing is working, there’s also the possibility that the SD card is faulty. Why don’t you get some new sd cards and try install a fresh version of Rocknix/Jelos
Powkiddy sent me a second X39 _for free,_ so you might think I'd "go easy" on the company… BUT NO… the truth is that _you should not buy anything from this company._ I know that many people in the audience will find the temptation impossible to resist, but the reality is that this system _is worse than_ an old android cellphone attached to a Razer Kishi controller (REALLY!)… and I could say "emulators running on the cheapest android phone you could buy", but you _probably_ already have an old phone gathering dust you could use for that purpose. And aside from the comparative value, the devices themselves ARE BAD and the company IS BAD. They lie to you, they break their promises, they have zero commitment to providing basic functionality that's promised on their own website, etc. -and they (evidently) do not have EVEN ONE employee competent in dealing with firmware (I have communicated with them directly in both English and Chinese).
The X39 is a vastly different device for sure. Powkiddy are definitely not great with quality control but I wouldn’t write them off. They make some great devices.
I think Powkiddy is amazing they do it for me 🙏🏽
Got mine last week. From Powkiddy site. I like the Jelos os. $110.00
Yes Jelos adds a nice vibe
Do you think its worth 80 bucks? how the performance with the latest updates?
@@clementem8458got it around that price, i’ll let you know my opinions once i recieve it
Just bought one yesterday. £67.76 shipped to UK. No brainer at that price, will compare to my RG503 and eBay one of them.
@@thegrumpygamer3081 yes it's actually a great device. I want to make another video about it.
