Arm Joe is a fighting game based on Les Miserables. The title is based on the Japanese name for the book Ah, Mujoh. The book is decidedly less awesome and kind of depressing.

That game was my jam even though I literally knew nothing about Les miserables. Being a PC fighting game fan in the 2000s, armjoe and other Japanese doujin fighters were all we had in terms of quality games

No Idea if anyone posted this by now but the music in JJR2 was done by Alexander Brandon who also did the soundtrack for Deus Ex and parts of Unreal & Unreal Tournament.
These shareware streams have been so batshit insane that at this point the existence of a Les Miserables fighting game does not faze me in the slightest.

The full versions of Jazz Jackrabbit 1 and 2 are available on GOG, BTW.
The GOG version of 2 also comes with the community mod that revives the multiplayer
