You deserve all the pain, buddy. You made her life such a living hell that she didn't want to live anymore. The one person who truly loved you, without ambition or greed, and you didn't treasure her!
Is really sad when you as a woman, realize that all this women where living in a cage, and the only way to be free was dying. Consort Rong knew it, that's why she didn't cry, she knew that Ruyi is free now.
I will say this the actor that played the character of the emperor was absolutely phenomenal in his role. The actor actually made you want to hate the character he portrayed. And the actress that plays Ruyi is absolutely phenomenal as well! Now yes the emperor definitely deserves to feel like crap fro what he did to the one woman that was true to him from the beginning. I'm glad Ruyi's final lesson to him will be a kick to the nuts so to speak. Hopefully everyone in the after life can forgive and live in peace.
I've read somewhere that the actor who played the emperor say that playing the emperor was hard and depressing because he himself started to hate the character for what he did to Ruyi.
This emperor was a most dishonest person when it came his step empress. He knew nothing about her and his behavior until it was to late. His own mother warned him that it would be too late if he kept going toward her the way he did. The time he asked for her to intervene with a member of the harem, just showed his selfishness. He didn't even bat an eye asking her and basically told her it was her job. That part made me so mad. Even at the end he never heard her tears. The other wife's knew though. Not him. Waited a long time to let her be free.
lol yeah, as what the guys deserved I don’t know why these jerk husbands must give the wives that they claimed to love the most the worst inhumane treatments compared to others 😑
From the letter of her son, Ruyi indeed reveal what she felt about being the queen. She is finally free and that is might be a reason why Qianlong didn’t make any official burials and give her an empress title because it would be against her final wish and what she wish for her son to be free to choose what you want. She never envy the empress title just to be love and live a simple life

She went through a lot! And he allowed it! I got hooked on this because of the love they both shared until the end where she just couldn't take it anymore and cut her hair! That love story was over
The Emperor felt fine doing all of his nonsense so long as Ruyi was still alive and he was able to go back to. Now, she's really beyond his reach, he's lost.
In the novel, Ruyi’s death is even more tragic : she doesn’t let herself die, she directly committs suicide by stabbing herself (I don’t remember well but think it was because she blamed herself for Ling Yunche’s death and wanted to pay for his life with her own life 😢). Moreover, her death happens before Wei Yanwan receives her retribution so she wasn’t even able to see it (so the whole flag thing was only in the drama). 😢😢😢😢
All he needed to do was love her truly and honour her sincerely. He is very pompous and lost the best thing that happened to him long before Ruyi died!

Till to this day have anyone truly came across why The Emperor who was her and his first Love and so on did not let her held the Title of Empress even after her Death!!!!?
Historically, there was a popular rumor going around that she did indeed cut her hair during the a Southern tour in protest, and claimed that the Emperor was using it as an excuse to get more women. (Just like what happened in the show) Cutting of the hair is considered a great sin, because by Confucius belief your body is borrowed from your parents. And by damaging it an any form or way on your own is considered disrespectful. Also in ancient China and the time that Ruyi was alive tiring of a lock of hair to a lock of your spouse signifies the union. By cutting her hair she has just announced that she has officially decided to divorce him. So in his eyes, I would presume, He no longer sees her as an Empress since she no longer is "married" to him. I've also heard for the shows sake to make it slightly romantic, the reason he took her title away was because she wanted to be free from everything. That when she's reincarnated that she won't be attached to him in her new life. So By cutting a lock of his hair when he was old he himself divorced her and took away her titles as a form a "Love" to set her free for a better next life.
@@PrincessAki2009 Ya that makes most sense. He gave her the freedom she wanted. He understood her dying sentiment in the torn painting. Though he was the villain in the end, he at once truly did love her.
