Im all for swap, benefits other than fast replenishment:
    1. Inspect battery (safety is #1)
    2. Backup power grid
    3. Value of car not dependent on battery

That's the big thing with any EVs other than NIO, when the battery dies it's scrap really unless covered by warranty, but then just because they have a warranty it doesn't mean they will pay up. One reason why I invested in NIO at the start, keep up the good work.

@@jlrguy2702 When you own the Nio battery its just the same.
After 15-20 years of usage and 600.000 to 1 million kilometers the Nio battery will get its second life.
      Just as everyone's else.

Very very important is that, no worries about battery degradation or battery defective issues.
    Short term or long term.
    Nio car will have value.
Remember, years back, mobile phones came with removable battery, if there was anything wrong with the battery, it was easy to replace it.
Nowadays mobile phones are built in battery.
I had to buy new mobile because the battery was loosing its charge faster and some almost didn't charge at all.
The car with built in battery will face similar fate in near future, no one will dare buy a use EV cars, will lose value to zero.
NIO is the best, because it's thinking about it's costumers or buyers.
Surprisingly Most people are don't get it.
Or maybe it's just the way it is.
    Stupid.
I will never buy a EV if I don't have the option what NIO provides.

@@TheFrenchCARnection Regarding the user experience and pros below are the main ones that I detect, but would love to hear you thoughts as well. NIO announced the first partnership related to power swapping technology and infrastructure with Cangan (third or forth biggest OEM in China) and there are more in the talks. Also partnership with Mercedes is rumoured as MB officials visited them the second time now.. So it is definitely an important charging alternative which will become a standard after this successful "proof of concept" stage performed by NIO.
      - Battery life and quality is not a risk for the user
      - Improved Safety as bateries are checked for defects
      - Many people in densly populated cities cant have their own charger
      - Avoid waiting lines (reserve a timeslot when you swap as you mentioned)
      - You can choose a different battery daily or monthly (75 or 100khW)
      - Battery development will benefit old vehicles so you dont have to buy a new car when the batteries will improve in the future
      - User experience - click a button and wait comfortably in the car
      - At the end of the day you can still charge your battery as Power Swapping is a luxury alternative

Also very useful for people that can't charge at home. Just do a quick power swap after work and you have energy for the week. With the Chang'an partnership this is a technology that is here to stay. Mercedes Beijing management recently visited NIO twice, so probably more partnership to come.

I think these swaps have a bigger impact to the ev market than only charging. A company that can swap these out this quickly will make battery changes/issues simply more accessible and affordable. Tesla needs to get on board with this, even if they don’t actually decide to charge this way.

Well, parking doesn’t take 2 min for charging lol. You don’t have control over the car entering the station so for me it’s part of the swap process. But I understand what you’re saying. It’s usually shorter than that though (the parking). I’ll post a video showing the 3.0 PSS next week and the « parking » time is really shorter.

You forgot the part where you forget you charge your car at home and only got few miles left? Swapping is not for everyone I agree! But 50% of the population first of all don’t car about cars, they just want reliable cheap cars! And swapping wins them an over! It’s very simple, just ask an ice vehicle 🚗 lover, which he would pick! A fast charge of 15mins or a swap of 5 mins and 10/10 it will be swap!

If you are living in a city like Shanghai on 30th floor apartment then swapping is the only way. I don't have access to home charging, I don't like waiting for an hour to charge the battery. We have 3 swap stations within 2 km radius and I get 6/month free swap from Nio. so why would I or anyone in a busy city chose anything but swapping? The process takes less than 4 minutes depends on parking and reversing, often this takes much less than a minute to back up to the station.

When you come to a conclusion about battery swap you should consider many more factors comparing it with fast or normal charging like the battery life, weather related issues, timing ect..not a good point of judgment because the future on EV belongs to SWAP TECH ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU TAKE IN CONSIDERATION BATTERY LIFE AND SELF DRIVING CARS,ROBO TAXI !!!

They use this technology in northern China where the weather is as bad as Canada lol. And also in Sweden, so I don’t think winter is gonna be a problem.
For the price you have to pay a monthly subscription (169€ for the 75kWh battery in Europe), then it gives you free swaps every months (not sure about the number). You still have to pay for the energy in the “new” battery though.
