to enable fstrim even after reboot type command is "systemctl enable fstrim.timer"
the start option only enables it till after reboot.

Only to add on this :)
    Boot time *
By default is set to 10 sec.
You can change it > open the terminal>In the terminal run command line:
    sudo nano /etc/default/grub
Look for the line that says GRUB_TIMEOUT and set it to 0.
Press CTRL+O to save the changes and CTRL+X to close the config.
Apply the changes using the terminal command
    sudo update-grub
    After that reboot
    My little contribute ☺️

@@savakujundzic manjaro runs extremely well on my 2 core Celeron Acer Laptop. Windows 10 sucked ass, but this distro is smooth like butter. Battery life also drastically increased too, due to Windows being poorly optimized for weak hardware, although i was always using battery saving mode. So for me it is just awesome, and was worth the hassle i had at the beginning.

Why would anyone install flatpak? Why would anyone install Google Chrome? Why slow your system down or put spyware on it after just installing a system that gets away from that kind of thing?
That's ok, I just disagree with those 2 only. And it doesn't matter because as with all things Linux, that's what's so great....you can make it the system YOU want. Thanks for your videos. You do great work and editing.
I moved to Manjaro XFCE a year ago from Mint Cinnimon. Loved the stability/simplicity of Mint, but love the smoothness/updates/forum for Manjaro. You have a good personality on the video.

Manjaro 20.2 doesn't allow me to change swappiness no matter what I do, I can change it manually through terminal (sudo sysctl vm.swappiness) but when i reboot it resets to 60. When I go to edit /proc/sys/vm/swappiness, I'd only see the number 60, with now text before it. If I change it to 10 and try to save, it complains about "invalid argument". When add a valid argument (vm.swappiness=10) it throws an error. Could you please revisit it and see what's going on with it?

Additional tweaks I found helpful for my system:
    1. I had a weird keyboard issue where my numlock would reset on boot and sleep/lock and the light would be out of sync. Fixed with the numlockx package and adding to the lightdm config:
    /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
    [Seat:*]
    greeter-setup-script=/usr/bin/numlockx on
    2. One of my fans weren't showing up in sensors. To fix ran: sensors-detect

  • @m06een00
    @m06een00 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The first thing I would do is get rid of Timeshift. You don't need it to back up. You already have the rsync command available, which does the same thing. Or you could use the GUI, 'Disks', already available and image your system, which I use.
The trouble with Timeshift is that sometimes it develops a mind of its own and does backups when it shouldn't, eating up your disk space, until one day you realise.

Fantastic video! Thank you very much for taking time making this. This is a very helpful start for 99% of the people that started using Manjaro. If you can do an advance user video how to use the terminal (navigate in the folder system, installing from terminal by finding executable files on system , basic commands...would be excellent)...But that is just an observation.
Thank you again an keep up . I appreciate is very much.

Hey man, thx 4 the video! So useful!
I rly enjoy how smooth is manjaro xfce on my 10yrs old laptop, but haven't found any way to block global hotkeys in certain apps, like on kde plasma "system settings > window management > window rules > (new rule, click on window) > appearance and fixes > ignore global shortcuts = force yes"
E.g. I wanna use default Ctrl+f2 shortcut to rename all equal symbols in vscode, but the xfce just steals keypresses and does "switch to workspace2" global shortcut.
So, here s the #question: any suggestions how to temporarily (only on focus) disable global hotkeys on specific window only? Just don't wanna rebind my vscode default hotkeys and don't wanna delete most of global xfce hotkeys. Plz help!
