It's all aluminum anodized in roughly the same shade of charcoal gray as Esbit's product line. I guess that coating makes it a little safer to cook in. Also, adding coloring to the methylate is smart because it makes both it and the flame easier to see. The best way to see it through direct sunlight if you don't want to hold your hand over it is to look at the ground next to the cookset. The boiling air generated by the flame will cast a shimmering shadow.

Not a little, but far safer to cook with. Anodized aluminum is non reactive, meaning it wont impart flavour, color or smell onto your food, and it wont leech aluminum as a basic alu pot would. It is also stronger - meaning harder to bend or dent. The simmer adjuster is also better than the trangia imho, because you don't need to remove the pot to adjust the flame and you don't risk burning yourself. The pan is kind of small though, and you can forget custom support or spare parts I presume.

There was another version of this which came with the kettle instead of the frying pan. Being more likely to consume sausages and beer this seemed the best option of the 2 😅

I've used a genuine all-aluminum Trangia for a few years with good results. However, seeing bits of aluminum dust on my drying cloth after dinner clean-up, I changed out both pots and the fry pan for nonstick aluminum. Trangia only has their original aluminum teapot so purchased an anodized version from Red Camp that was similar in size and fits inside the original Trangia pots. Aluminum has been linked to various health issues. I wish that Trangia would make an anodized teapot.

A trangia 27 or 25 fully anodized would cost me 150€ or 170€ respectively. That means this is if you wanted the extras this comes with.
    - If you consider it has a pot lid, you'd have to spend extra 10€ to get one with a trangia. 10€ extra for a trangia bag (although it would be a far better one). 10€ for the pot adapter for smaller pots (which this one can hold from the factory.
The link provided costs 85€, i've found it for 77€. and it is on sale on
TBH if I were in the UK i'd buy the cookset, which is literally an improvement upon the trangia in every way.
The cons being a lack of spare parts availability (but you can use trangias), the lack of a burner plastic bag which is absolutely necessary to prevent the metals to react to each other and ruin the whole thing, plus to prevent alcohol leekage. The pot holder is fiddly, and the lid passable. Otherwise? Astounding value.
    Improvements:
You can get a better pot grabber or add a spring to this one to use it as tongs.
Make a DIY pot Cozy for the inner pot to keep foor warm while eating or to rehidrate food with less fuel. See SOTO navigator.
Buy a Trangia Disc for extra 10€ - it's a cutting board, lid, pot scratch protector and a strainer.

Hi Adam, looks like a nice little set up, but I'll stick to my Trangia me thinks. What's the coating on that set?. Beginning to get a bit of an old fart these days so I'm always checking that kind of thing. Mind you it's a bit late for me to worry about going bonkers if I'm honest! That's why any pots, pan's and kettles in my camping kit is now stainless, as this is not a possible health concern, as for the weight I'm not that bothered. Good Video, look forward to the trial run,
