    This ain't just about graffiti this is all of art and I really appreciate that. Great vid. The theoretical stuff you put in your videos are incredibly valuable as I don't come across them anywhere. Same thing with the book. Took my lettering skills to above and beyond what it was after I truly sat down and study it for a month. I have a request also. Could you please dedicate a video on different practice methods? Some of the `boring` stuff you mentioned. I don't have an art background and I would like to sit down and just do some drills to get better technically. I've been writing the variant letter structures from the book and of course the prints in different sizes etc but I'd like to try other stuff too

      Firstly thanks for the kind words! Second, I can certainly try to make a video like that. Let me see if I can make it interesting so the majority who find the practice boring will be open to the idea of the studies and practices

      @@Theartistblock I bet you could title it boldly as: how to get better as a writer/how to actually get better at graffiti. It wouldn't be misleading at all! I can't be the only one that wants to improve their writing on a technical basis

    Exactly, fundamentals is the foundation then you can create your own style while keeping structure

    Grim, i don't know if you'll see this, but i would love to see videos on the elements of art and how to approach them (or all of them in one video). I know i can probably find it on the Internet, but i love the way you speak on these topics, not just from a graffiti perspective (As someone who doesn't do graffiti it's greatly appreciated)
    Anyways, love the content, its super educational

    This was a really insightful video. Thank you for uploading! And as a fun note, I like to think that learning, understanding and mastering the fundamentels is the key for succeeding in any kind of skill! :D I'm gonna take a look at your basics of graffiti art videos as well. I did my first graffiti on a wall yesterday and I could see that something was "wrong" with it, but could not pinpoint it. So Im hoping that your shared wisdom in this field can open my eyes a little bit.

    One thing we should be patient about to is we have to be patient when we actually piece on the wall I know it can be hard especially if we aren’t doing legals but take your time and not rush remember to take few steps back and look at the piece and proportions.
    For example I know everyone has done this ESPECIALLY me where we like the first letters and then we’re kinda rushing threw the rest or we lose focus we’re so focused on the first letters being good that we just think that good streak is going to shine on threw.
    Rant over.

    So fine artists do master copies, which sounds like graffiti artists aren’t encouraged to do. Right?

    • @Theartistblock
      @Theartistblock  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Master copies are amazing and common in fine art for sure. Graffiti artists can certainly do them as well, the issue is to effectively do a master copy you need to go into it with the intent to break down and analyze at least one or all of the fundamentals. Graffiti artists (especially new ones) often don't know the fundamentals exist, or they don't understand them enough to reliably break them down in other people's work. Because of this, they end up just biting and not learning anything when they copy. The other issue is they normally don't do master studies, but rather they cut parts off letters from people they like, then Frankenstein their own name out of those cut off parts.

      lol cats love to get all in your business, let it run along your wet paint and drop it on your canvas. whatever happens from there is pure chaos. call it abstract art or anti style and boom, you're done.

    Soon, there is going to be the rapture. It's when there will be trumpet sounds, and after the trumpet sounds, God will lift his people from here. Also, God said people should be living by the Bible. Amen, and God bless you.
