Hello sir. I am a Bsc IT graduate batch 2020 and now I'm looking forward to go with SAP ERP to level my career. But, I have doubt which module to choose. Although, I belong to an IT background even you may suggest me to go with ABAP but my programming & logical skills aren't that good.
On the other side, I'm thinking of going for a functional module over technical. SAP MM, I've got a very little knowledge about logistics but I'm sure I'll cover up.
Few months back I did consulting on this topic many of them advised me to go with ABAP but looking at my skills I'm confused.
Need your guidance & help 🙏
Hi Sudeep, my first advice to you would be to try another consultation and match results, ask why ABAP is good for you and how can you progress in your career.
Second advice is to ask yourself, "Are my technical skills something that can be fixed? or something that's hard to work on?" or "Am I interested to pursue a career in technical background?" Both of these questions vary but at the same time would help you gain an insight into what you really want in life and career.
Lastly, just as a recall, its better to know the difference between "I should be doing ________" and "is this what you desire to be doing?"
Further SAP MM is a promising module which helps you gain international experience in the field and also in continuous demand in the industry.

@@MaheshKumar-uf7tj yes, I've taken advise several people , and came to know that ABAP is the foundation to any module. So best to start with ABAP itself . And also learn other modules also . SAP fiori and BTP have great opportunities nowadays. Search from your end and take proper decision.

But, to help you, I can say that you kickstart your learning with OpenSAP and search a Udemy course (as they are running heavy discounts right now) and then aim for an SAP MM certification. Though many companies don't prefer candidates with a gap, but if you can compensate for that with a superior skill, then FOR SURE, its not gonna be a problem.
Also, your BCA does qualify you for a profession in SAP and if needed, do consult a career counsellor for a professional advice on which module to choose based on your existing skillset and technical inclination.

Hi Priyanka, anyone can kickstart their journey in SAP or any other field, the only requirement is willpower. And I do understand that while every field has a set of 'prerequisites', it's nothing that a human brain cannot adapt to.
I would suggest you to consult a career counselor to help you decide on which SAP module to choose and then give yourself at least 6 months to first understand the basics by self-learning. Once you gain intermediate confidence in your skills, you should proceed for professional training and then aim for certification.

To answer your question, SAP MM doesn’t require too much hard coding skills, and even if you are having exposure to basics of programming, you’ll do well. Currently, there’s an increasing demand of SAP professionals, especially in countries like Australia.
If you want to aim a specific job role, then right now is the best time to get started with your journey to become a SAP MM specialist

Hi buddy, it's a lot less information to judge/comment on. But if I see purely from a job perspective (assuming you reside in south-east Asia), SAP MM has more number of job vacancies, and companies like IBM, HCL, & Cognizant usually hire good talent quite easily. Hope this helps!

A big YES! Simply because SAP hiring are majorly done on your skill proficiency and not the background (though in some cases like ABAP, it's preferred that you belong to a technical background)
