@DannyDeVoid the regional transition was a blast. I grew up in the Twin Cities and we had FuncoLand. But the mall of America had a GameStop, EB Games, FuncoLand, Sam Goody, and at least one more store that folded into GameStop
@@fargoretro My local mall didn't have a FuncoLand, but I sometimes convinced a parent or older sibling to drive me to one a couple of towns away. I was delighted to trade in my played-out NES and Genesis games (for reasonable payments!) and try used games before I decided which ones to buy. Of course, the store eventually became FuncoLand in name only (otherwise indistinguishable from Babbage's) and eventually was rebranded as GameStop.
I distinctly remember my very first day working at GameStop was helping to open a new store in my area and they had me.................sorting and organizing all the GameBoy Advance and DS games. It sucked to see them all get phased out but it's lowkey kinda cool to see them coming back in store. Mostly because it's nice to be able to get hands on them and see the quality of the cases! Fantastic video, man! Great work!
I know about the slip on sleeve for Dark Souls 2 actually! There was a special steel book edition of the game that also came bundled with the OST, and they used the sleeve to cover it so they could have all the legal stuff (ESRB rating, etc) and were able to use the actual entire case for a unique design. Design is sick btw, I still have mine, but not the sleeve oddly enough.
Florida man here....I was honestly surprised to see you hit the Oviedo Mall. I lived there a long time ago and I bought my Sega Dreamcast at that GameStop used back in 2004.
Shoutouts to the copy of Midway Arcade Treasures in the Oviedo Mall location. Myself and Ruxin34 were there since they had two card shops in the mall as well and I almost picked it up, laughed as soon as I saw you grab it as well.
I’m amazed that GameStop is still in business, honestly. I saw that there are some GameStops that are really big and have tons of cool stuff. But find one of those flagships… they’re few and far between. BTW, I too was distracted by the Baldur’s Gate chick’s thingies! 😁😎 Fun video, dude.
I’ll always remember one of my last EB Games purchases was a Iwrin Toys DragonballZ Perfect Cell. It was when DBZ was booming and everyone watched it on Toonami. Still have the figure. I’m 41 now. Jeeezus.
Only a few times I've found cartridge games and that was at the Brandon GameStop on highway 60. Overpriced. Props for buying just for the video. I tend to do the same lol😅 love these type of videos keep it up
You were 10 minutes from my house at one point lol Also next time you're up here check out the North Augusta GameStop, thats our favorite one around here. It's oddly oversized for a GameStop.
We have a great locally-nerd-owned retro game buy/sell/trade place. They also do repairs. If you have one, support them! We need more of those places, and they trade with each other, making selection and prices better for everyone.
Lmfaooo @ 18:36 😂😂😂. Fun fact about me I worked in a GameStop in like 2002 for about 6 months. Back when you still could get snes and genesis shit. I think I was making like 8 bucks an hour or some shit so I quit. Fkn 8 bucks an hour what a trip man
They have lots of Retro games at the GameStops near me, according to the one in Keene New Hampshire they just randomly ship them games from the warehouse. Then in the same breath warned me their copy of Bart's Nightmare is defective and has been returned a couple times..... yet it's still on the shelf.
I went to a gamestop today to see if they had anything and all they had were 2 teens that could barely work their store computer and were visibly confused when i asked about refurbished consoles
Randomly got your Goodwill video recommended the other day. Been loving your content man. I think Animal Crossing is a great series, I'd recommend you give it a shot sometime. The one on the Wii U is just some goofy mario party rip off, not even real Animal Crossing.
"I don't know" "I've never" Man dawg you have a very specific set of interests and it seems like anything outside of that scope of vision is just darkness to you lol
I am also shocked that Xenoblade Chronicles has gotten so cheap. I remember when it came out it was almost impossible to find. I guess they did another print run? Or maybe the price dropped after they made it downloadable on the Wii U eshop.
@@allthelonely4287 yeah that would make sense too. the market for the game now is purely collectors and not just people who want to play the game any way they can.
We had retro games at GameStop but they took that away from us and now they realizing “damn we going bankrupt, what can we do? Oh right capitalize on the retro market again.” Bunch of idiots up there
I remember the good old days when EB Games used to be like the Sears for us retro gamers. GameStop has become a ghost town with only like one employee working in there the last time I was in a mall.
They sold retro video games in the early 2000s. I got a super Nintendo from GameStop and a bunch of games. Few years later they stopped selling the old stuff.
Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance is a pretty fun game. If you can find Champions of Norrath, or Champions: Return to Arms on PS2 they're also hack-and-slash titles that use the same engine and are in my opinion better.
I live less than 30 miles from whitney point and i have never been there. I don't remember how it works, but i have mario party 6 and 7, and i think the 20 total stars match is an option. If not, it us just the map.
i also noticed last time i went to my gamestop and they had retro their prices were AT or ABOVE ebay pricing LMAO..i think my short video i made has it on my channel
First Zone of the Enders game is pretty average but the sequel fixes everything, and offers fluid combat and action served with a great story. You got a great deal there.
Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance is not considered part of the mainline Baldur's gate series, it was a spinoff that attempted to emulate Diablo. Pretty fun game but not really a "Baldur's Gate" game at all. I just started replaying it recently and I'm having a good time.
I always see all these videos of youtubers getting lucky and finding cool stuff and everytime i go to any of my 3 gamestops in my area they dont have anything. EVER
Visit every GameStop, buy all their games, and donate them to a Goodwill on your way to the last Sears.
How about a good thrift shop instead? Thanks.
Goodwill puts em on ebay heck no
I live for PSP. I want a sega cd and SNES more than life itself. New Sub. The goodwill video did it for me.
Wow EBgames, there was one point where our mall had an electronics boutique and GameStop at the same time.
I once visited a mall that had _three_ GameStop-owned stores (each with a different brand, but otherwise essentially identical).

Thanks for taking us along on the adventure again, Jason. It's cool to see what's out there and what you ultimately picked up. Cheers

It is deeply painful to discover that Gamecube and PS2 are referred to as "retro" now. I am no longer young.
Half the people working at GameStop weren’t even born when those came out, they count!
Worse yet even the Xbox 360 and PS3 are also retro. Next year the 360 will turn 20 years old.
Retro ends after the N64 and it will be that way forever, there is no changing my mind
Fellow Florida man! Here In Melbourne we have SNES in the display at GameStop.
Love the vid Jason! Keep up the good work

For reference, Jason goes into HYPER CHINESE MODE at 15:03 .
Seeing Wii and 360 games labelled as "retro" is giving me the same pathological fear of time as James Rolfe. Christ, I'm old.

Amazing idea for a video! Super entertaining!
nice pickup with the blood in the sand game man ! G unit !!
You went to one of my two Gamestops that within an hour drive. Hope the finds stay good!
4:10 - I think I went there a few times to see movies? Pretty sure they used to have an $8 deal or something. I believe I saw Krampus there.
Just thought you should know seeing you pick up that basketball in the goodwill video inspired me to buy a basketball and shoot hoops again. Thanks

EB games that takes me back. What a throwback. Also I will go to GameStop again!
Yea l remember when they sold really good ds games for good prices back in the day

I got a copy of pokemon yellow at GameStop a couple of weeks ago. Went in just to look around and kill some time. Was a nice surprise

You can actually use two candles as a replacement for the wii bar. The bar just has some infrared led's that can be spoofed pretty easily.
Practicing drums right now and can't watch your video. Just wanted to say hell yeah another Jason Graves vid!!!
What program do you use to edit the real time haul on side? It's cool man! Just subbed
That was fun to watch, thank you!
Kirby and the rainbow curse is amazing, $40 may be steep but seriously it is a time sinker as soon as you pop it in

vy-DALE-yuh with an emphasis on the “DALE”
cheers! great videos

I'm the lone vote for Midway compilation retrospective.
"I don't know" "I've never" Man dawg you have a very specific set of interests and it seems like anything outside of that scope of vision is just darkness to you lol
GameStop should do more with retro games, especially with the older console’s online stores shutting down.
"there are no enemies here" = "where did you learn to drive?"
Dang, you missed out not picking up RE Operation Raccoon City, I still play it from time to time.
The Goodwill pile compared to the Gamestop one speaks volumes of the quality of the chain
I am also shocked that Xenoblade Chronicles has gotten so cheap. I remember when it came out it was almost impossible to find. I guess they did another print run? Or maybe the price dropped after they made it downloadable on the Wii U eshop.
It also got ported to the Switch which might have helped lower the demand for the original.

That's not just "one of a million N64 racing games" at 9 minutes and 30 seconds, sir; that's Beetle Adventure Racing...
Original ds has always been there or at least occasionally there, as that is more modernish and ds is probably the oldest they go
