Step 1: Before initiating the data transfer process, take some time to prepare your old phone. Start by backing up your data to ensure that nothing is lost during the transfer. Most smartphones offer built-in backup options, such as iCloud for iPhones and Google Backup for Android devices.
Additionally, consider transferring any media files, such as photos and videos, to a computer or cloud storage service for safekeeping. finally, ensure you're connected to Wi-Fi on your old device.
Step 2: Turn on your Samsung Galaxy S24 and place it next to the old device. From the S24's set up screen, select your Language, agree to the EULA and privacy policy.
Step 3: From the resulting page, choose your old device from the list provided. The list includes Galaxy or Android Device, iPhone or iPad and Set Up Manually. You'll notice a pop-up on the older device, that will detect the Galaxy S24 nearby.
Step 4: On the older device, select "Set Up" and scan the QR code provided on the S24's screen. The process will begin as your devices get ready for the transfer. The S24 will pick up the Wi-Fi settings of your older device and connect to Wi-Fi automatically.
Step 5: Verify your identity on your Galaxy S24. Enter your old devices PIN, password or pattern to go to the next step. Here, you'll be prompted to copy data from your older device. Tap on "Next" to proceed. Do the same for "Smart Switch" by tapping on "Next" and "Allow".
Step 6: Under the "Transfer Data" page, choose "Wireless" or "Cable". Wireless uses Wi-Fi, while the cable should use a Type-C to Type-C cable connected to your devices. We recommend you to choose "Wireless".
Step 7: The data transfer will begin after you choose the data you want to transfer. Choose "Everything", "Just Calls, Contacts and messages" or "Custom" and tap on "Next".
Step 8: Finally, tap on "Accept" to agree to the Google Services Terms and Policies, Advance Intelligence and Samsung Service permissions. tap on "Finish".
You will be let into your S24, but the transfer will continue in the background.
Once the data transfer is complete, it's crucial to perform a thorough check to ensure that all your essential data has been successfully migrated to your Samsung Galaxy S24 device. Verify the integrity of your contacts, photos, videos, messages, and apps to avoid any potential discrepancies.

Using wire is mpre reliable also u can wireless charge while transferring. Or smarter Charge them up before starting. Also close all your stuff out on old phone in chrome browser plus update old phone if you can and apps.

What about if you have a micro SD card? Do you just swap it to the new phone and all the data saved on the SD card will transfer to the new phone once you put it into the new phone?

I am upgrading from a Galaxy Note 8 to an S24 Ultra, I know, I'm a caveman. When transferring data from my old phone to the new one, will my contacts and text messages transfer as well?? Will my old phone keep that data on it just in case?? You showed us having the option of transferring data either wireless or over a cable, obviously using a cable is more secure, but which is faster?? Do I need to have a new sim card for my new phone, or can I just move the sim card from the old phone to the new one??

Yes, this is an example of what your SHOULD have included. Samsung will already give you the glowing version of how easy it is to make the transfer but that is BS. There are all kinds of things on your old phone that you will NOT find on your new phone but want to. How do you do it if Smart Switch can't be used. It's a drag not having a place for an SD Card on the new Galaxy 24's.

Can I just take my old SIM card out of my galaxy S10e and put it into my new galaxy S24?
Trying to transfer from S9 to S24, after I scan the QR, the old S9 says connecting/this may take a few moments but the large ball just spins and spins and nothing happens, waiting for 30 minutes.

The old phone data still remains on it. But if you no longer want those data on the old phone, u can just do a factory reset.

No. You have to do that one manually separately

You don't have to. You can always set your single or double Sim card/cards up later. Just go to Settings > Connections > Manage Sim once you put your Sim card in your new phone. 😊
I was using the s21 now got s24 and I transfer everything over thou my Gmail still think im still using s21
I placed my S21 Ultra next to my new S24 Ultra, with WiFi on, and nothing happened when I hit the queues. The S21 Ultra does nothing.

Smart Switch will transfer your contacts, including phone numbers, but it will not automatically transfer your old phone number to the new phone. You will need to contact your carrier to transfer the number separately.
