Let’s be honest, AI probably could imitate that except that whoever designed these AI programmed it to always make women characters look like dolls, and the AI bros prompting it further ask for a “dollified” version of women characters. I hate AI for many a reasons but this whole thing of slapping 5 tons of make up on someone’s face, making them into white woman if they can (because god forbid their data set have diversity) and giving them a waistline as thick as a wrist- that’s a certain kind of human (generally white dude but also any dude, really, and an incel at heart) intervention. It’s a deliberate aesthetic and probably the only intentional choice in this whole trailer.
I love how this just goes against everything Arcane is praised for lol (in regard to it’s art and animation which would actually be considered “breathtaking”). 💀

A big part of the appeal of Arcane to me IS the incredible character design, especially how much variety they gave us in female characters that were each strong in different ways

This legit gave me the vibe of those videos like "what if undertale had a movie - fanmade trailer" and I remember when people used either other movie clips or had actual people act in it. Those were still better. Meanwhile here it's just "I'm gonna feed a trailer made by real artists and see what the hell comes out".

I am still a newbie on drawing and sometimes i am not satisfied with my skill. Then i see people showing of their ugly unedited AI art, and i am happy that my drawing are better than prompts feed to an AI image generator.

The thing is, they don’t even realize that it’s disrespectful. Based on the fact that the video is now down, I guess they thought they were doing a tribute, and the obvious disrespect didn’t cross their minds until they got backlash. The good thing is that the person who created this garbage will probably learn from this experience and be more considerate in the future.
As far as I know ARCANE is a result of 20 years dedicated hard work.

as a somewhat beginner artist (started taking it seriously during the pandemic, now a multimedia art student), Arcane motivated me a lot to pursue art and be thankful and cherish the skill and craft that comes with achieving that level of quality and artistry. So seeing people use AI to replicate Arcane and saying that it's better is kinda funny since, yes, the "realistic" recreation of the some of the Arcane scenes looks pretty good for someone not looking carefully, but it's obvious that Arcane's actual artistic vision and style is what makes the AI recreation look good. If you look at the recreation you can see it looks lifeless or too plastic. I actually saw another vid reacreating Arcane with Ai into a "realistic" look, there's no art consistency to be seen, characters either look different everytime they're shown again or just straight up looks uncanny since only the face moves and not the whole body ( it's always at the neck below that makes it obvious). It might seem discouraging but ngl, I find encouragement seeing someone use AI because I know for a fact that with or without digital devices, like the artists of Fortiche, I'll be able to draw something and that's something I will always hold over AI prompters' heads.
Yeah, to people who have real eyes lol.

Yeah all the women lost their edge in this "tribute." Almost none of them looked dangerous. I kinda appreciate the weird little blemishes, a lot of AI art tends to go for some perfect airbrushed look, like that first shot of Ambessa. The recreation of Piltover looks like some cross between, like, Hogwarts, Versailles, and that one bridge in London.

I'm just surprised as to how less ugly AI looks every year. It's still really bad, but the moment we get more simple and intuitive UI to tweak the end result, people are going to start getting real creative with it. I've seen so many who will just not mess with it at all and claim to be putting in real work, because actually messing with it takes waay too much effort, and we are still not at the point where putting real work into it bears any noticeable results... but imagine when we reach that point. Can't wait to see what both artists and non artists will come out with using AI in say, another 2 or 3 years
Ai is ALWAYS ugly because the bones aren't good. I've messed with it and the point is that it's for generic bs, it's not creative. AI Users are just making slop, like this, lol. 'super realistic, hyperrealism, beautiful' etc.

AI is not inherently creative or not creative, as with any tool the creativity must come from the person using it. Anyone using AI wouldn't be making art themselves either way, so I'm just glad there's a larger output of interesting stuff for me to consume, even if there's a higher volume of trash I have to ignore (I grew on the internet, I'm already used to doing that subconsciously), and the best of it will only get better from here on

It’s all about the stuff for you to consume, made by AI instead of a human because AI can make the stuff faster and cheaper. Praising AI for what it can do is essentially complaining that a human artist isn’t a machine and can’t be as fast and cheap. You will be fed more ads, more generic content, even more slop although you seem ready for that since that’s what internet is to you anyway.. not realizing that internet wasn’t always like this and became this way because quantity was prioritized over quality because people like yourself would consume this stuff anyway, so why shouldn’t the companies prioritize that and make profit off of it. Also, I am not sure exactly what kind of upper limit AI has but I can promise you it has one. If you know anything about these companies that doesn’t come from their marketing teams, you’d know they’re very likely doing/ heading towards copyright infringement (for real, feeding it things that were explicitly not available for public use) because even all the publicly available data is not enough to take it to the “next level”; and that they are still running at a loss because it takes an extreme amount of investment in setting up the physical space and computing power all of this needs. To take it to the “next level” and have it be profitable (which is their priority over you and their users because shareholders are always the priority).. they would likely be mowing down poor countries still recovering from their colonization by the west. As always, it’s going to be the people who are much poorer and more vulnerable who will absorb the vast cost of “exponential growth” that people like you have come to expect, hoping and wishing for improvements in AI.
Oh I found one of these AI trailer on accident once and it was for a ‘Dracula’ movie with Keanu Reeves (I mean not actually considering it was AI) and at a glance I didn’t notice at first but my first thought was “why would you cast Keanu Reeves in another Dracula movie? He was so awful in the first one”

It does look bad but the thing is AI will only keep getting better and soon enough it will be able to create much better copies. I think people miss the point when it comes to why AI is bad, it's not about how bad and ugly it looks but how problematic and exploitative it is in the wrong hands. The style wasn't even consistent it was like elements of a ps2 video game graphics, with the ai look along with clips that look really sus and since ai used content of the internet I wouldn't be surprised if some of those clips were nsfw.

Arcane but everyone's conventionally attractive and male gaze oriented ew. Ah yes all the women must have unrealistically smooth skin and perfect, highly feminine make-up ALL THE TIME. "Realistic." This is why I love Arcane's designs. The characters are unique, diverse body types, facial features and make-up styles. They have scars, tattoos and piercings. They sustain injuries and get dirt on their faces during combat, etc. It's refreshing to see a series handle it's female characters in a this way. Only for AI bros to ruin it.

I saw an amazing AI video called Battalion about a black world war 2 soldier that raided the beaches of Normandy, who then comes home, and feels disconnected due to the racism in the country. He speaks with a therapist. It is a work of art. I recommend people go see it to see what can be done with AI.
