Finally measurements are back, not just the laundry list of components...well done!
I remember in 2018 watching Dan review Chris Froome's 2017 Pinarello F10, that was the day I got hooked into cycling. I still watch that review from time to time and it always draws me back into loving bikes.
Amazing we finally get the bike fit measurements when looking at the pro bikes. Well done Dan
Great to have Dan back doing pro bike videos. More Dan, please.
Colnago seatposts come with that 'fine sandpaper' pre-applied, it's not a custom mod.
Great to see Dan Lloyd doing this types of videos again. Looking forward to so many more!!
The founder of Frame and Gear, Kristoffer is just an amazing person. Bought their rear mech hanger for my bike, the screw wasn’t to spec so I reached out and he took no time in responding and wanting to sort out the issue straight away. Their products are also genuinely great, the build, fit and finish are amazing. Not paid or anything, but would highly recommend❤ edit: got charged by grammar police
Wow, thanks a lot for the nice words. It is much appreciated! Cheers/ Kristoffer
Their products* are (plural, no apostrophe) / build, fit and finish are* amazing
Got one of their out-front computer mounts, custom designed for my Ritchey stem/bars. It is a thing of beauty.
Ahah, I got no idea who Kristoffer is, but... I bought a Framesandgear Wahoo mount for my V4Rs and can attest that the quality (both design and manufacturing) is excellent! 👌
50T outer surely that's not correct.
@@markuozfanjo3725 Correct at @1:33 you can see numbers on outer chainring
Excellent !,..Used to buy the official Tour de France guide every year but have stopped as they haven't covered the tech side for a few years now,..This makes up for it ,thanks !
Fantastic detail, love this approach. Cheers Dan
Great coverage, really loved all those details covered! Well done :)
Very nice set up. Great job Dan.
What do you think of Tadej Pogačar's Tour de France bike? 🔥
Let us know in the comments! 💬
My favorite part is the mini hulk sticker, that has to be 30+ watts of aero improvement
Only a few more pennys, and my life will be complete !
Thank you GCN, now I know the purpose of my life is 6kg of carbon and a hulk sticker, for a year's worth of generous labor
Well done Dan! Love all the number details.
Great video! Always love seeing Lloydy in action
Dan is in the field! Loving it!
So good. Getting Lloydy back in the field is brilliant.
Thanks for the measurements Dan now I can setup my bike exactly as pogacar's
I was thinking the same. I'll have to get wedges for my cleats though, there's a 6cm difference in leg length 😂😂😂
Very interesting video from Dan including Pogs measurments. Quite a standard set up apart from the little detailed parts. So it also seems that the 165 mm cranks are becoming more acceptable . Amazing to see how much things change over the years.
Uhhhhh hub sound check. That’s the most important part!!!!!!!! 😂
Love my V2R with SRAM Red etap and rim brakes. Those frames are incredible. And Colnago has to be thrilled to have him atop the latest version.
@@gcntech found it on Marketplace frame and group in almost immaculate shape for 2200 USD. Just had to put a saddle and already had a set of carbon wheels that I put on. Ferrari red it’s stunning and I love it. Never letting it go. Amazing how no one wants rim brake bikes out there but that is their loss.
very nice tour!
After yesterday Vinregaard looks fully fit and will have the edge in the high mountains…. Between them …. Both amazing talents
Nice report, nice bike.
Much as it's great to get the benefit of your presence here, missing you hugely on Eurosport's Tour coverage Dan. Politics I'll bet, yes I know there's no direct link now that GCN+ is no more, but they could've hired you as a pundit. Their loss, and obviously our loss.
Back to Pog's bike, tip of the saddle 9cm behind the BB with it slammed forward on a seat post with no layback? That does surprise me.🤔
It’s my understanding Dan left to focus on moving GCN forward with all the recent changes. But yes it is a major loss to the racing coverage, Dan was my favorite by far.
Also for the saddleback position, it makes sense. I have mine slammed foreward all the way on my Tarmac SL7 but it is still 19cm behind the BB. Might be due to my size 58. I wish I could get it even more forward but specialized doesn’t sell the special seat post Remco uses.
Bugger! I misread the title and though it said win this bike. You had my attention there! 👍
It's so hard to type comments, and mop up drool at the same time. Lovely detailed review Dan
that chainring is sick dang
Gotta do the waxed chain check Dan!
It is interesting that while his seat is obviously forward on the straight post the measurement you have for front of saddle to center BB is 9cm...Then again I guess these days many saddles have shorter noses & I do not know this saddle . Thanks for a great review/info video on his bike!
Good job Dan. Nothing to fear, after a five year lay off. Bob on.
*furiously takes notes*
Good to see you back in the trenches Dan! The only thing you’re missing is the weight and free hub sound check. 😂
What a beauty! The only thing I can afford to buy is the sticker provided it’s not a carbon-made ultra-light sticker.😂😂
Good for Pogacar. If he ever forgets his bike fit measurements, he can just rewatch this video to get his bike fit setup right!
Love the bike
It is interesting to see all teams working with different bike manufacturers/makes.
꿈만 같은 일이지만 기회가 된다면 저 자전거에 한번 앉아보고 싶군요. 라이딩을 할 수 있다면 절대 잊을 수 없을 겁니다
Insane!🎉
Hi. Thanks great summary. to clarify ... are the tyres 28mm or 30mm?
That is some very compact posture for his height, does he ride with elbows bent at 90 degree?
What is the frame size? a 535mm handlebar reach is pretty low for a bike with a 130mm stem.
i read 55-40 on the chainrings…..
😊
Must be nice when every company who makes super light and super expensive parts wants them put on your bike. Good Luck Tadej.
Welcome back Daniel Lloyd.
How do I change my chainring on a one piece shimano crank? Mine does not look like you can
Freehub soundcheck?
I see that pogacar has the hulk on his stem. Mario Cippolini had a nice pic of Pamela Anderson on his stem. That’s probably what I would do.
im pretty sure the nose of the saddle is not 9cm behind the bottom bracket. this is a zero offset seatpost and its shoved forwards a lot, i think its more at the limit to 5cm
I wonder if he meant to say 9mm.. I think this would be about right for a straight seatpin.
@@gerbryf 50mm is UCI maximium and im pretty sure it is close to that but im 100% certain its not 9cm
Super Nice. Ring the bell
Primoz roglic Shiv TT and Tarmac plz🙏
Wait, they do all these small changes to save grams. And then still use the shimono power meter??
Or the Cervelo🦋🦋🦋
real hulk size hulk sticker won't even help me the slightest, let alone the mini one 😅
What size frame is he riding?
Is this the secret motor doper version or the regular-pain-sweat-tears edition?
surprised you don't see those trick brake rotors on more team bikes. awesome way to negate some of the inherent excess weight of disc brakes.
never thought I'd see 25mm internal-width wheels on on a pro road race bike.
Sure, trimming down weight on the one thing that slows you down is something everybody should do, always.
@@pierrex3226 brilliant, be sure and tell that to team UAE.
like everything in cycling, 'it depends', so in this case, under this rider, those rotors are the overall right call.
The most you feel the advantage of Wider tyres is on descending. Probably he wanna descend fast
nice
What is the setback measurement from the center of the crank to the front of the seat?
He said 9cm, but that's hard to believe if you see the 0° offset seapost, saddle tilt, postiton and the low saddle height. It's 7 at most. He also said 50T chainring, so maybe misspoke
30mm Conti, i guess that means he is not using the "TT" version of the tires (which i think their largest is 28mm).
Why don't they make downtube in a way that is almost brushing the front tire. That provides a cleaner airflow or is there any advantage to keep the gap. That I would sincerely love to know
All this tuning, must be for financial reasons, or is it still impossible today to get Dura ace on a non aero small frame with 50mm wheels to weigh 6.8kg, stock?
crazy how cycling trends change over the years. 165 cranks are wildly short for a rider that height in the real world, but best believe there will be people copying that.
I doubt that shortening the cranks (less leverage) combined with larger chainrings (55/40 instead of 53/39 or 50/34, hence bigger diameter, hence requiring more leverage) will make anything more efficient.
What a machine! And the bike too.
Tom Bonnen said that Pog would be even faster on a more aero bike. What do you know about the aerodynamics of his bike compared to other pro cyclists? Is Pog giving up a few watts?
"Absolute fortune" 50€
What size frame is this?
Someone knows about this custom bottom bracket brand?
Hub nosie check?
did I hear correctly? The outer chainring surely has to be bigger than 50 tooth?
It's 55 teeth (it's printed on the outer chainring about 2 cm below the rear end of the front derailleur, see at 1:33).
weight? freehub sound check??
Where u not allowed to weigh it?
Yes of course, special vitamins help it to gain the advantage.
50 outer ring. That's a new one. Who else does that.
Frame size?
Wider tyres are safer when used with disc brakes
His bars are wider than i was expecting
richard mille y on the stem?
Wax chain patrol!?
short cranks.... could they allow riders to get more from their calves. ie. the distance moved is less so a bigger proportion could come from dorsi flexion
It's to open up the hip angle and make it more comfortable to ride in aggressive positions
@@invisiblescout6335 aye, I know. I was wandering if it might have another advantage
the wheels are as wide as some off the mountainbike wheels on the market
It's the engine, not the bike 😅
@@robinseibel7540 then try winning a TDF on a 20KG bike 😉
It's not just the rider, it's also the bike. Ya'll spout too much b.s.
@@sepg5084 , yeah, your exaggeration doesn't really work. No one is going to be riding a 20kg. The bikes in the pro peloton aren't that different in spec. You put a top rider on any of those bikes, and if the bike allows their preferred fit, then they'll still be a top, winning rider.
You need to do a little physics and swallow less of what the marketing departments tell you.
@@sepg5084 , and why stop at something silly like 20kg. You may as well go completely stupid and go with an exceptionally stupid exaggeration like a 100kg bike with an ultra-thin walled depleted uranium frame.
It's fascinating that it's neither particularly aero (10-20W at 45km/h according to Tour testing) nor light (about 200-400 g) relative to all its direct competitors. Still it's selling like hotcakes, even though Pogacar is winning DESPITE the Colnago, not because of it.
The easiest explanation is that in actual race settings, the riders skill and power trump any differences between top-level bikes.
no sound hub check? 🤭
Hulk smash!
Somewhat a return to Classic Colnago . Campy would close all this. All things considered.
damn Lloydy back doing pro bike video and the measurement is much more detailedddd. Just like old GCN days, welcome back Dan!
Beat me to it! This is what we ave always wanted to know!!!
yeah i really appreciate the detail in this video
Everyone will be riding 73.5 cm saddle height now
I will never use hookless rims.
I think Dan pulled rank here. Think about it. First Tour starting in Italy. First Tour not finishing in Paris. Possible Giro-Tour Double. Dan’s employee number is 001. HE has earned this.
