Given I've never read that, and I've read most of his writings, I'm not sure how that claim is valid. However, of importance is that most people read a lot into his fragmentary writings in his compiled "Letters and Papers from Prison" and read into them more of what they want than what might be there. This is true of both theologically liberal and conservative thinkers. This is backwards in my view, as that compilation should be read in continuity with his earlier writings. His most mature writings are found in his "Ethics", but even those are a collection of writings. Thus, I believe it is a generally unfair claim. However, I believe Bonhoeffer is very weak on the Resurrection because his theology of the Holy Spirit leaves much to be desired. If anything, Bonhoeffer was indebted too much to German Idealism and Existentialism (Kant and Heidegger) but still held to orthodox Christian views (Nicene Christianity), and saw his project as a recasting of Luther's theology.
What do you make of the claim of Bonhoeffer’s denial of the physical resurrection of Christ? Is is rightly claimed or not a fair claim?
