The temporary fix was trying to solve her family problems without addressing the real issues, its like putting a sticker in a leaking pipe, it will stop the leaking for a while, but the problem will come back

The mother deleted all of her boyfriends from her phone because she saw how hard her husband and children were working to better themselves. Not only did it make her want to do better, too, but she realized that she loved them and was happier with them. The boyfriends were an escape from an unbearable situation...where her husband was constantly stressed out and yelling, her daughter didn't care about the future, and her son was trying to turn himself into Smeagol.

I think you got the genre wrong. This is very clearly a comedy. Delightfully absurd, slightly dark, a bit subversive, and overall a lot of fun. The ending is brilliant. Humanity is both doomed and saved. Humanity is no more but, because of this, humanity suffers no more. I love it.
I think it would have also worked well if she had noticed the question on the back at the last moment and tried to answer it before the paper was taken away. So, she ends up only managing a small horizontal line, which is the Japanese "ichi" for "one". When we expect her to be the last remaining human being, instead it turns out to be the astronaut, stuck on the moon for the rest of his life. I don't know, I just think that would add a bit more comedy without taking away anything, but maybe it's too over the top.

What kind of exam asks for the current world population? You could only give a definite answer by telling the students to round the answer to the nearest millions or so, but never the exact number as the world population drastically changes every second that goes by. Even if she put a relatively near number from the current exact number, she'll still affect thousands or millions of people.

I think the teacher was the one with the power. Things didnt change until he marked the tests. The place where she wished to get 100% didnt exist until she wrote it down (and yeah this is a whole in my theory cuz it seemed to happen straight away) and that was the only prk he marked correctly.
