Definitely not a fail! These are items you will use and you have a budget for it. By ordering online you probably saved more as you were not tempted in the store by impulse buys. You bought the things you truly needed. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! It is so much easier to stick to my budget by ordering online! Also, the closest Sam's Club is in another state! Hahahaha! I appreciate your thoughts!
I’m a newbie here…but not at threerivers. It’s not a fail. I believe that each of us have our own goals for this pantry challenge. I’m in the challenge too and my goals are not exactly like everyone else’s. You did good!
Definitely not a fail. Stockup when you see a good sale. Pantry challenge or not. You make your own rule’s. There going into your pantry and you will eat them from there. No problem 😉
I don’t think it’s a fail. I would have done the same thing. I’m not doing a challenge per se, but just trying to eat through our stock pile. If I see something on a good sale I will totally go ahead and get it. Saves money in the long run. You’re doing fantastic Marlene!
Thank you so much Pat! I want to get our pantry to a place where I can utilize everything within a certain time frame. Once I retire from the S.O. I want to set goal amounts for certain items.
It is your challenge - your rules. You can be flexible with it. Technically your protein drinks and velveeta can could as dairy (at a stretch). I am glad that you got what you wanted on sale! I hope you enjoy your Sam's Club haul!
Hahaha...I love this! And it is my challenge. I knew I couldn't pass up on the coffee and the protein shakes...some other things fell into my online shopping cart! LOL
I would have done the same thing. With food costing what it does, you have to be open to bargains when you can find them. Besides I am a sucker for those fig bars. 😊
I agree! This is why I decided to buy the coffee and those protein shakes. They are something we always keep in the house and I try to only buy them when they are on sale. The fig bars are tasty!
Your Sam’s haul looks very similar to mine and I’m doing “No spend January”. I also got the collagen peptides which were $6 off. In my opinion, when grocery prices are as high as they are, it’s “winning” when you get anything on sale. Can’t beat Sam’s Instant Savings specials!!
Your challenge....your rules! Protein shakes assist with a medical condition. You didn't purchase anything that you already had in your freezer. Either way, you do you and don't stress it!
From what I understand about the challenge, you can make your own rules ( which I remember you did). Restocking the pantry items should be ok. One You Tuber made a large Azure Standard purchase, but she didn't count it because she didn't use any of it during the challenge. I think you are doing great. I don't blame you for taking advantage of all of the sales. Maybe they ought to move the challenge to a month they don't typically have sales LOL
Thank you so much Dannie! I have to get those items when they are on sale...it is a must! Hahaha! Next year I will remember to add to my rules that purchases such as this are allowed.
Definitely NOT a fail! My husband and I live off of coffee and it is so expensive so when it goes on sale you need to get it because it is so long in-between the sales. Also just like the Protein shakes you got a better deal now which in the long run saves you on money. It is not a fail it is a complete win.
Idt youve failed, every year youve done the 3rivers challenge prepper pantry has been separate. Esp when Ridleys did their incredible meat package deals in prior Januarys. Its budgeted separately.
It’s definitely not a failure in my opinion. You stocked up on things that you needed. I don’t follow anyone’s challenges other than my own personal challenges. I keep us stocked and continue to stock on sale products that we use..example..I was down to my last 6-cans of canned clams -a store was running them for $1.00a can (this store only puts on this sale once a year-I haven’t bought any in 3-yrs so I bought 24 cans to *restock*…I keep no less then 50 jars of tomato sauce-store had them Prego for .99 each-I added another 50 jars. Hamburger $2.99lb no place is selling hamburger this cheap in months-bought 19lbs (have several home canned hamburger goodies) so this was just adding to my stash..this is how I have shopped for many years and this is why I don’t have to go shopping every week or every other week..the security it gives you is how everyone should live in my opinion. There is many ways to save money so you can use that to stock food especially in todays world.
You are so right! I am so happy I got more of my hubby's coffee and the protein shakes for me! I am trying to adjust my pantry now that we are empty nesters. I want to ensure my pantry is stocked, but I want it to be things we can eat in a reasonable amount of time. Once I retire from the sheriff's office I plan on canning more and ensuring I am cooking at home and utilizing what we have in stock! That is a great deal on hamburger! My store has hamburger at $5.99 lb right now...yikes!
@@SnowGardener ~I’m a empty nester too-however, with the prices of food my three sons have been shopping my shelves- I keep buying on sale in bulk so that they have what they need if they need it. I don’t go buy any dates on any canned goods, home canned goods-canned oysters will not go to far past their bbd 🤢 Foodsavering meat will last indefinite in a freezer-I’m not good with rotating freezer food-we ate a 9-yr old roast beef -couldn’t tell the difference between a fresh roast or my foodsavered several year old roast-Also found in the freezer a block of mozzarella cheese in its own wrapping that fell behind the ice maker-I took it out of its packaging, grated and used it for my homemade pizza-no difference in taste but a little white color -it’s date on the package bbd 2012-so yea dates mean nothing to me. If only people knew they don’t always need to go by a date- You’re retiring from the police department? You look so young to be retiring from there-you must have started working there in your 20’s.. You’re gonna love being home more🙌🏻🥳🤗💐
It would have been irresponsible to NOT buy those things when they were on such a great sale. Especially the protein drinks. Those things add up fast! We have started buying the Members Mark brand protein shakes for my Dad. He actually likes them more than the premier protein brand chocolate one. He says they are smoother and have a richer flavor.
Thank you so much Becca! I can't remember if I have tried the members mark on the protein shakes. I like the Premier and love all the different flavors. The mint chocolate is not my favorite but it still pretty good.
It’s not a failure if you have saved money. Just put it all aside and don’t use it til after the challenge. I don’t think it’s wise to use up your stock and pass on sale items that you would purchase normally. I know Jessica does it to purchase something specific with what she would normally spend on groceries. Each family has different needs. Wise purchases.
Girl… you’re just restocking your pantry!
You got it! 🤣🤣
Definitely not a fail! These are items you will use and you have a budget for it. By ordering online you probably saved more as you were not tempted in the store by impulse buys. You bought the things you truly needed. Thanks for sharing.

I think you did NOT fail! you scored great deals. You have to take advantage of the sales on things you need whenever the best sales are going on!
Thank you so much!!
I’m a newbie here…but not at threerivers. It’s not a fail. I believe that each of us have our own goals for this pantry challenge. I’m in the challenge too and my goals are not exactly like everyone else’s. You did good!
Thank you so much! Yes we all have our own goals of what we want to achieve in this challenge!
Definitely not a fail. Stockup when you see a good sale. Pantry challenge or not. You make your own rule’s. There going into your pantry and you will eat them from there. No problem 😉
You are so right, I will be eating all of those items out of my pantry! haha!
I don’t think it’s a fail. I would have done the same thing. I’m not doing a challenge per se, but just trying to eat through our stock pile. If I see something on a good sale I will totally go ahead and get it. Saves money in the long run. You’re doing fantastic Marlene!

Definitely no fail, not when it's a great sale❤
I agree! It's not a fail when it's on sale! Hahaha...that rhymes!
LOL
You had me at peanut chocolate wafers 😂. No fail, great sales! 😊
Hahaha...my hubby loves those! Thank you!
Not a fail, I would do the same thing. You got some good deals
Thank you so much!!
Not a failure at all. You have sams money set aside and prepper pantry money....not a fail my friend😊
Thank you for the encouragement!
Thank you so much! Sam's specials are a must stock up on when they happen!
Not a fail and thank you for reminding me to get parchment paper 😂😘
I’m glad I could help! 😂
❤❤❤❤❤
I say that this is not a failure 😂❤
Thank you so much!!
Your challenge....your rules! Protein shakes assist with a medical condition. You didn't purchase anything that you already had in your freezer. Either way, you do you and don't stress it!
Thank you so much! So very true!!
From what I understand about the challenge, you can make your own rules ( which I remember you did). Restocking the pantry items should be ok. One You Tuber made a large Azure Standard purchase, but she didn't count it because she didn't use any of it during the challenge.

There is no pass or fail. Things happen.
Great point Julie! Thank you!
Definitely NOT a fail! My husband and I live off of coffee and it is so expensive so when it goes on sale you need to get it because it is so long in-between the sales. Also just like the Protein shakes you got a better deal now which in the long run saves you on money. It is not a fail it is a complete win.
I appreciate that perspective! I have a hard time passing up sales because of this!!
It is NOT a fail (i feel) if it was a good deal and you are saving in the long run. I would have totally done the same thing.
Thank you so much! That is exactly what I was thinking!
Idt youve failed, every year youve done the 3rivers challenge prepper pantry has been separate. Esp when Ridleys did their incredible meat package deals in prior Januarys. Its budgeted separately.
This is so true Victoria! I have such a hard time not buying items when they are on sale because of a challenge!
I don't think it's a fail . It was to good of a deal to pass up 😊. Also isn't Sam's a different catagory in the budget ? I say no fail
That’s what I was thinking! Yes Sam's Club is a separate line item.
That damn parchment paper. 😂😂
Sure was expensive! LOL
I think sales in times like is not failure
Thank you!!

You are right! It is not always about the challenge itself, but the greater goal of being more budget-conscious.
I don't think it's a fail to buy things that you use all the time at a sale price.
Thank you so much Cynthia!!
Not a fail at all. These are all stock up items.
Thank you! I feel so much better knowing that I was thinking the same way about it! Haha!
It didn't come from grocery money soooo 🤷♀️
🧜♀️🩵
That is what I thought as well!
You’ve never included Sam’s club items before so I don’t think it counts
Thank you! I couldn't remember in the past what I had done...heck I can't remember what I did yesterday! LOL
@ same!🤣
It is NOT a fail if it was a good deal .
Thank you so much!
I don’t think you failed. You used your sinking fund
Thank you so much!
