ಗಿರೀಶ್ ಕಾಸರವಳ್ಳಿ,ಭಾರತದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನ್ವಿತ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬರು. ಮಲೆನಾಡಿನ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ತೀರ್ಥ ಹಳ್ಳಿ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಕೆಸಲೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ 1950ರಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಇವರು ಮಣಿಪಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿ,ಫಾರ್ಮ್ ಪದವಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಪುಣೆಯ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ ತರಬೇತಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಡಿಪ್ಲೊಮಾ ಪದವಿ ಗಳಿಸಿದರು. ಗಿರೀಶ್ ಕಾಸರವಳ್ಳಿಯವರು ತಮ್ಮ 45 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಿನಿಮಾರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಉತ್ಕೃಷ್ಟ ಎಂದು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವ ೧೪ ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ದೇಶಿಸಿ, ಹಲವಾರು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹಾಗು ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇವರ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು - ಘಟಶ್ರಾದ್ಧ, ತಬರನ ಕಥೆ, ತಾಯಿ ಸಾಹೇಬಾ, ದ್ವೀಪ - ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಚಿತ್ರವೊಂದಕ್ಕೆ ದೊರೆಯಬಹುದಾದ ಸ್ವರ್ಣ ಕಮಲ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗೆ ಭಾಜನವಾಗಿವೆ. ಇವರ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು ಅನೇಕ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರೋತ್ಸವಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸಹ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿತವಾಗಿವೆ. ಕಲಾತ್ಮಕ ಚಿತ್ರ ಅಥವಾ ಸಮಾನಾಂತರ ಚಿತ್ರ ಆಂದೋಲನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಚೂಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬರಾಗಿ, ಸಿನಿಮಾ ರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿನ ತಮ್ಮ ಅಸೀಮ ಸಾಧನೆಗೆ ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ master movie maker ಶ್ರೀ ಗಿರೀಶ್ ಕಾಸರವಳ್ಳಿ ಯವರು ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಅನೇಕ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಟ್ಟ ಬುತ್ತಿಯ ಅತಿಥಿ.
