The greatest gift POS make us every time is that they always change, they always walk different paths, different sounds, different styles with their own touch. I cannot wait for the new album. This song is so great.
@@feeesti9457 that's not what's happening here. Just 4/4 with some quintuplets and septuplets (and some accents every 4 of both of those subdivisions, the last time they repeat it). Same concept as using 16th notes or any other subdivision, and grouping them however you want, etc... (Technically, Quintuplets are 20th notes, and septuplets are 28th notes, in 4/4). Nested tuplets would be going one step further, like for example: if you put a triplet inside of 2 notes of a quintuplet.
This is the best I've heard in a very, very long time. Finally something that stands out from the mainstream, something new in music. I can not stop listening ... at least 4 times a day I have to play it.
So many bands find it difficult to try something new and stick with the old formula. Pain of Salvation take the leap and it pays off all the time. I want more
I'm so glad to see the fretless guitar in the hands of Daniel. This detail itself shows how they probably put themselves in uncomfortable situations of composing, and therefore pushed themselves furhter in the creative process of this album. I know he used it a lot in older albums, but I'm happy this guitar still gets rocked! I think it is very promising for the upcoming album, and this song feels like a big intro for an epic track. We'll see that by the end of the month!
Theres a ton of bands with similar music styles and challenging rhythms but when one of my favourite bands publishes new music I always remember why I love this band. It's not just the rhythms and such but the melancholy and the sound they have, it's astonishing.
Everything about that song is so fresh. Literally everything in the mix... the guitar tones, drum tones, bass that isn't just dead center and moves around. They must have spent a LOT of time experimenting with it all. Great work ;).
So refreshing! My tip three bands of all time are Winds, Opeth and PoS... Winds hasn't released any album in ten years. Opeth has been releasing the same album in the last ten years. PoS feels so good! Thank you, guys!
@@dansmacabre8511 I know, right? They are amazingly talented people, but I feel Mikåel is trying to deliver a message he cannot entirely put down, so he keeps trying and trying... Is like having a tune stuck in your head and can't stop humming it. And I just re-read my comment and I'm glad you understood my point! I'm not Englishing very well today, lol!
@@stephanea5364 Sure! Gladly! I'm a proud Ambassador for this band. My favorite song is Fall and Rise, from the album Prominence and Demise, but all of their work is absolutely wonderful. You get two band members from Arcturus, HellHammer from Mayhem, chorus by Agnete from Madder Mortem... And Andy Winter, also creator of Age of Silence (and other weird stuff like Snare of Sixes). Hopefully you will love them as well!
Indeed! But not exactly great though hahaha unique doesn't mean it's good. But I appreciate their effort, I can enjoy something like this for sure, although it's not my cup of tea.
this new pain of salvation music is very inspiring, and really is a rallying cry for "panthers in a dog's world". The band's music has meant quite a lot to me for over a decade now, every album bringing something incredible and different for all of us beautiful and restless dreamers. I can't wait for the release of Panther, this band rocks so hard!
I dig this sound. The whole Panther album is a beautiful journey. What's cool about PoS/DG is that you can never really tell their next step. I for one, hope there will be even more crazy meta-prog and even more naked emotion. I too, am a restless boy :D
Something I've always appreciated about POS is that they don't overindulge in prog tropes, but when they do, the stuff they come up with is often more of a challenge than other prog bands. Other bands will have odd sequences and time signatures that throw you off, but once you have it memorized, it's not so difficult. POS seems to like to play with timing and passages that challenge what "feels right". It often seems harder to get a grasp on than just memorizing a passage of varying 5/4 and 7/8 measures, for example. "Handful of Nothing" and "Stress" immediately come to mind. I know there are others that I just can't remember right now. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, when POS progs, they prog harder than others.
It seems like POS found a best way for pure expression to come out. Like erasing some excess layers and filters between raw but complicated experience and my mind. Masterpiece.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. PoS - I didn’t expect anything beneath genius level. I got what expected. Waiting for the whole album and another Music masterpiece. So far, you didn’t release any album that was nothing but masterpiece to me. I am calm. And a little inpatient!
AMAZING song!!!! Really original sound!!! Love the felling of not knowing where is going to go. Is totally unpredictable. Looking forward to the new album!!!! 😊
Why POS, is not more played on spotify, is beyond me. On of the top 3 progressive metal bands ever. So amazed by the amount of work that goes into every song and album.
Oh, they were. Most songs on "be" were goddamn boring. But: The first four studio albums including and especially "Remedy Lane" are great, with the Folk Trips on Road Salt One and Two the sound became nice again and In the Passing Light of Day is their masterpiece - my all time favorite album.
@@zx8194 Be was my first POS album, so I love it. Concrete Lake is probably the one I'd skip, along with Salt 1. Salt 2 was a grower on me, but damn is it good. Passing Light has some of their best work, but some songs I can live without. Daniel is a mad genius!
They are transcending the borders of metal since many yrs. And yet they stay extremely emotional. But the best: they are surprising me with each song and album...
I absolutely love POS, and always look forward to "digesting" their new albums. I listened to Accelerator a couple of times to warm myself up for the new single and even Accelerator sounds completely different to the first 20 times I've listened to it, how is that even possible!! Must be cold as eff in Sweden right now since Johan is wearing a shirt and jacket...
Usually our summers are warm at best.
Jesus Christ, even more insane than Accelerator
Agreed. There is a surprising amount of tension in this song. I love it!
Amazing song, this band is amazing!
First half: Okay, I dig the new sound direction.
Second half: WTF.
On second listen: I'm digging it a lot. All the numbers to be a grower.
Nothing too surprising there. But the end, I was expecting for some sort of sound, stayed here... waiting... “oh it’s over”
