Say what you want about Carly, but she seems to be making a genuine effort to make this relationship work.
I wonder why... It doesn't make sense to me. Nothing in her past indicates why she's so determined and trying so hard to make it work when she can take the easy way with another person.

As everyone should be. Whatever the reasons, be patient and understanding about your SO's anxieties. It is one of the best qualities you can have for a relationship.
The fact Shaun has progressed towards his attachment issues, being able to kiss and hold hands is just wonderful thanks to Carly. The rest it will resolve itself. But I think he needs plenty time,love and patient just as Carly is doing.

I love their relationship. This seems to be the healthiest relationship on TV. When someone happens to one or another, they talk about it, they work it out, compromise, make the effort. If they can overcome these obstacles, they will have the strongest relationship.

She never did any of the things that he and carly are doing because she would not be able to handle he continuously rejecting her. Lea would have been found other dude to satisfy her and her needs. Hence why she wanted to just be friends with him. She is not as mature as carly and I think that is also a reason why some do not like carly because she is a mature

Yo just finish the episode and man. I give it up for carly. Patience, understanding, tolerant, loyal, sweet, kind, stern and tough. I watch then show all the way from season one and i think Dr. Han said it best. Shaun has a problem when it come in the emotional department. Anybody involve with shaun put in their work but when its time for his part he fails or when he does he ready to quit off the back. Like come on...
Looks shaun its 50/50 regardless of your fears and dislike. People sacrifice for you all the time so you'll do the same no matter how "uncomfortable" it is.
He has a neurological disorder, and it's not that easy for him to just give in to things that make him uncomfortable. You see how he panics when he's uncomfortable... It takes time for him and sex is can be a very uncomfortable subject for some. Shaun isn't used to this level of intimacy. Intimacy like this is hard for a lot of people- people who don't have autism.
@@whosaprettykitty5076 I believe that and know shaun have problem with thing he is uncomfortable with but i when i see him go through the same scenarios with lea and his brother it dosent excuse it anymore. He just didnt have enough chemistry to fully trust carly that all.
I cried almost every EP; sometimes I cried so heavily that I needed to stop watching the show for a while before continued watching it.

I like this couple. I think that Carly is a very patient and understanding girl who has deep feelings for Shaun, it is seen that she is in love with him and her sadness every time he gives up. Frankly, I think the relationship will not last long, but I feel it is Shaun who will break her heart or she may not endure that situation much more because that hurts her. Sometimes I think that he might be in love with Leah and that is why he feels so uncomfortable next to Carly, although I don't say he doesn't feel anything for Carly. Maybe not even he knows. What I have no doubt is that Carly is there to help him in the process of physical approach, either with her or with anyone who is with him in the future.

Eventually those thoughts retreat until the next morning and they all come crashing back into my brain.” I really related to her in that moment, but I didn’t know it was called imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is when you have those thoughts of inadequacy and feelings that you are a fraud.

I come back to see this moment after the moment of Shaun and Lea in the episode 10 of the season 3. And i see the diference -Shaun and Carly ( Shaun can't stay). Shaun and Lea ( He stay and sleep whit her). For me the true love of Shaun is Lea no Carly...but is my opinion..

He loves Leah. High moral standards are one of the traits of men on the spectrum. I think he got up, thinking of his undying love for Leah.
I haven't seen season 3 yet so I don't have the full context, but from the clips of their relationship, I think he left for almost the opposite reason. I think he is physically attracted to Carly and gets turned on by that kind of closeness. That feeling of sexual tension is unfamiliar and overwhelming and it feels like too much, so he leaves to get away from it. I don't know if he also still has feelings for Leah, I think I would need to see the full series for that, but I think the reason she was able to hold him and comfort him when he was upset about his dad was that it wasn't a sexual situation. Even if he is attracted to Leah, the context of the situation was completely different and meant the sexual tension wasn't there. She was also hugging him from behind so he didn't have to deal with eye contact.

My hat goes off to carly. I can't understand why people call her selfish and think she has a hidden agenda. This poor woman has put in all the effort that many of us in real life would not do. She has a beautiful heart and spirit when it comes to shaun no matter how much he pulls away from her. I believe she genuinely cares and may even be in love with shaun. I see so many comments that she selfish, she pushy, she doesn't understand him and my favorite she is too old looking. Who cares, she is willing to wait for him and be there for him when he needs her. And she showed it in this episode

I hate to say this but I don't think the problem is with the way she's written. Carly seems cool, and I think the actress is lovely but not the right fit for the part.
I think what people and carly need to understand is while shaun makes certain strides he is still autistic and some issues/boundaries/needs aren’t going to change. Pushing such an agenda will just hurt him more. Autistic people have a really hard time with physical affection. It takes a while to build a relationship enough to have the trust of an autistic individual for them to be able to hold hands or hug, let alone have sex. Carly and anyone on here is being unrealistic to think that he is going to change overnight for someone he just started seeing romantically.
i think it depends on which level the autism is. As far as I know Shaun is an aspie and thats a mild form of autism. A lot of aspies are married and have children . I cant figure out which level the writers are putting him on bc it seems conflicting sometimes....Anyway Carly should understand, doesnt she mentioned an autistic sister?

@@nicoleDOxyz Autism has "levels" in diagnosis because people need different amounts of support and physical care, but when you look at someone's whole life, autistic people aren't that simple. Each person has their own combination of traits. Some people get unlucky and have a combination of traits that makes life really hard, some people get lucky and all of their traits seem "mild" or have workarounds that are relatively easy. Some people have a real mixed bag.
Shaun would probably be level 1 (or aspgergers in the previous diagnostic criteria) because he can speak and understand spoken english all or most of the time, he is able to eat, dress, and use the bathroom independently, and his self-harming stims are relatively rare so he doesn't need someone with him all the time to stop him from hurting himself, he doesn't have an intellectual disability, he is able to work and pay rent and generally do the things adults are expected to do to live independently. He seems to have some problems keeping track of time and is sometimes late, but he's also able to develop and use strategies to manage that. He has some sensory issues involving food which can be inconvenient, but he's able to eat enough quantity and verity that he doesn't seem malnourished.
None of that tells you that he will have no problems in relationships. I haven't seen the whole of season 3 yet but I think what's happening here is he gets turned on by being close to her, and that feeling is overwhelming and confusing and it feels like too much so he runs away. He may also have trust issues from abuse and neglect as a child. It seems that processing and understanding his emotions is something Shaun really struggles with. I think he needs a partner who will listen to him and help him understand what he's feeling, instead of getting frustrated when trying to "fix" him doesn't work.
I wish I could find someone like Carly, unfortunately she’s a fictional character and no human can have her traits 😭💔
I think there are real people who are like her but those kinds of people are subtle and discreet. They often don't share or flaunt what type of amazing people they are.
I don't even watch the show, just watch clips on YT and I was disappointed to see he ends up with Lea😂

I don't even feel like watching this show anymore. It may sound rude but i feel dr Carly has used by Shaun as a ladder towards relationship with Lea. He just used her to learn abt relationship.
She put so much work into that relationship and it felt like the writers had no idea what to do with that. So they just had Shaun move on to Lea.
