Great closing discussion! A lot of my Vegas experiences in the past few years have been greatly enhanced by social media reviews and exposure. I do agree, I want transparency! We spend so much money now compared to 15-20 years ago, we want to get value for our dollar. I'd hate to drop $400 on a dinner and have it suck! Keep fillin' holes Shawn! LOL
I deleted Vegas Starfish last year because she was being paid by Vegas' tourist board, and additionally, a restaurant could them to give larger steaks, higher quality food for video purposes than a person walking in. Very dishonest.
When I moved to Las Vegas in 1989, Golden Steer and the Circus Circus Steakhouse were two the best places I ever had dinner at. I wouldn't have ever went to Circus Circus but a company I was working with had their year-end dinner there. I almost didn't go to Circus Circus but glad a did. Lots more great places now in Las Vegas but both are still top notch but I tend to kind of dismiss social influencers as I always think they are paid.
"I didn't know you were gonna buttonhook me"- classic Sandler. Mark I believe your over 3 people that got that reference already lol. Great show guys!!

I appreciate you providing your honest opinions. It’s one of the reasons I watch your content. If an influencer constantly says everything is awesome I become skeptical. I prefer someone sharing their sincere opinions. 😊
I think I'm one of the few people who don't care much for airport lounges, I have access to Delta Airlines lounge through my work. I hardly ever go there when I'm at the airport. I'm glad to see that Vudoo Lounge is back, it's the only the reason why I would go hang at The Rio. Lol!
Thank you to our co-hosts for this fun Friday segment. I spent a lot of time at BC (no gambling). BC was the “company town” during construction phase of Boulder Dam
At this point I am just following these shows to see if anything is maybe changing in Las Vegas to make it worthwhile again. Unfortunately, it keeps going the other direction. Used to really love the place. Now I can't imagine going there, especially the Strip or Fremont. If I do go in the future, it would be for places like Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Mt Charleston staying clear of the fray.
Influencer that are sponsored are no different that those people that hand out those flyers along the Strip. I would rather watch unbias content like on MTM. MTM is the only podcast I watch from the area on a weekly basis. Fun and informative and I haven't gotten sand kicked in my face - yet! 🤣 Keep it real Shawn and Mark!
Ive cut way down on youtubers/influencers i watch content from. Alot ofbthe stuff is the same now, each one rushing to get out their monthly update, all have the same sponsor for a stretch, never giving real criticism , etc. Ive been to vegas enough now that i just want to see the thing im searching for, i dont need them to review it for me and give their biased feedback.
You button hooked me, I didn’t think you were gonna button hook me. That thing is pointy, fellas…. Love it!! Called it out to my wife( who couldn’t care less) the minute you said it!
I was just at the cosmo during the power outage, the whole experience was strange. Thankfully I was in the tower that didn’t lose power but my coworkers were impacted. This resort has always been my favorite but this visit it really seems run down, it doesn’t smell fresh, lack of staff and dirty. Sad to see wonder if the impact of the MGM transition are starting to show
👏👏👏Bravo on calling out the "Influencers"... of course you guys did it in a much nicer way than we would've done it. None the less well done. They always say "I didn't get paid or comped for this" but yet, they never show a receipt !🤔So you're saying Kelly is big enough to fill the big hole? 🤣
I agree. They need to disclose that they are being sponsored by that particular restaurant or they casino. I remember last year when word got out that Brandon o Brien was doing promo play on MSC cruises and not disclosing that info to his viewers. Many people unsubscribed including me. In a nutshell, he was recording his blackjack sessions on these cruises but they weren’t for real money. It was play money. MSC set up a time for influencers to come down to the casino and record sessions using play chips
I think some of these slot players do same thing. There is no excitement on their great wins. If they do try excitement it’s so phoney , you can tell. I unsubscribe to some of them.
No offense to you guys but I'm tapping out on all Vegas content going forward. The greed has gotten to the point I don't even want to go there anymore.
I feel like us vegas residents have a duty to inform the friends and family they have that Vegas is a real city and we have hotels and bars that aren't on the strip or dowmtown, and you can get a good deal if you just stay 10 mins from the strip and take the bus if you wanna get to it.
I get claustrophobia so getting stuck in an elevator would be horrible. I once went through this in a small hotel in Beverly Hills. I was stuck with a full elevator too. I kept my mind on other things to try not to let it overtake me. It worked but it was still hard. I felt the panic attacks too while standing there. Hated the whole thing.
I get claustrophobia as well and have only had one bad attack but I don’t think I would handle a stuck full elevator well these days. Try not to think about it.
Yea I don't pay attention to 'influencer' accounts especially for reviews about anything. Up to this point I don't think I've heard of any of those people you talked about, except for Jacob, but he seems above board most of the time. The FTC needs to come down harder on people not disclosing paid or reimbursed advertisements or whatever it's called. I know you need to disclose it on YT but I'm sure enforcement is nil.
Thanks for another great video, guys. Keep up the good work. I'll be back out there in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, i don't get stuck on a cosmopolitan elevator
@Milestomemories BTW, I'll have a wrap around suite, and my friend and his wife will have one of the top penthouses. Let me know if you are interested in doing a video on it. We have no issues letting you get some footage.
Sorry, but on a completely different subject, if you are missing the Tropicana, you can revisit the resort on Google Maps street view, which even suggests you can still get a coffee at the Starbucks there….
Mark mentions he likes Boulder City. My wife and I took the Caesars Laughlin charter and used it to get to Vegas. Since we had a rental car we drove to Hoover Dam before going back to Laughlin. Since then I've decided, if we ever move that way, we'll be going to Boulder City
I'm pretty sure the FTC requires "influencers" to disclose if what they are producing is sponsored. But if it is a disclaimer in the description below, I'm sure many people won't see it.
I really hope you guys will do a segment on Punk Rock Bowling music festival over Memorial Day weekend. This year is the 25th Anny. We’ve come down several times and it’s great seeing the punks takeover the Golden Nugget and Downtown. Love the show!
Golden Steer charging an arm and a leg like a Strip hotel means people can just stay and eat at their Strip hotel steakhouse and get ripped off. The influencers not disclosing their relationship is even worse and people should care. The brands should require them to do so or not pay them because it reflects on the business too. It's just dishonest because being paid makes them want to promote the business so their gravy train doesn't end.
If you want to stay legal you need to do the following when you are sponsored: Include disclosures in three key areas: written in description, superimposed over video, and verbally in video. Include clear and unambiguous language, using the words or hashtag “sponsored,” “ad,” or “paid” in addition to tagging the sponsoring brand. !! Don’t Use ambiguous language like #spon, #partner, or “Thanks to…” The FTC does find those in compliance !! Include verbal and superimposed disclosures within the first 15-30 seconds of a video. Superimposed disclosures should remain on screen for at least ten seconds. Written disclosures should be included within the first two lines (125 characters) of the video description above the “show more” box. When using the built-in paid promotions. And like many, I have found doing media events like auto ride and drives, old media does not always call it out when attending their costs such as food, flights and hotel were covered by the manufacturer. I have seen some old media outlets call out that they reimbursed the manufacturer for the costs were covered.
Not disclosing being paid to promote a business is abhorrent and should be banned. $18.50 for a beer, check-in lines that stretch forever with not enough desk agents, record profits for casinos. My days of visiting $egas are over
I'm staying at Rio right now. 26th floor of Masquerade Tower. The offer said strip view, but what I see is Trump Tower and Resorts World. Check in was one hour. The water in the shower is somewhere between hot and cold. I'm enjoying the warm weather.
Why $18 for a cheap tall boy? Because ppl keep paying it. I did see a guy at planet Hollywood laugh at the bartender when he tried to charge $18 for a bud light. He told the tender to shove it and the tender got mad since he had already opened them. LOL
I'm not trying to be political but to the question why $18 beer when $12 was making money hand over fist? That is corporations. Corporations never say that was good a year, lets try to repeat that. They say that was a good year, our new goal is 10% growth for next year. Who cares how we get there. Then the next year rinse and repeat. And the year after that. Every price gouge, every service cut, each single employee they don't pay, that's how we've gotten to this point as a country. Our leaders simply allowed it to happen. All just so corporations can grow by percentage points every year.
Yeah, talk about drink prices. Went to Fontainbleau on Wednesday to see Tears For Fears play. While waiting, I decided to get a drink at the bar upstairs. My regular old rum and coke was $19. Seems excessive. Good thing the concert was exceptional and helped blunt the sting of that drink cost. Stayed at the "Dirty Castle", which was fine. Room was clean and in good shape except for some worn out electrical outlets and a wonky cabinet hinge.
Kevin Sweet is top notch, tier 1. Smart and genuinely a good person, and he took Cosmo to another kevel. Rio is in trouble without him. Any group that grabs him will be lucky. However, his floor plans need more garbage receptacles. ;)
Worked for an AB distributor a few years back and the price they were selling to the bars was between $10 and $12 for a case (24 pack). Total rip off. They are trying to get the profit they used to make on a tapped barrel. Bars were making upwards of 900% profit on a 1/2 barrel.
From now on we drink for free. When we gamble use the Ford drink tickets from Caesars and we're going to start carrying a thermal backpack in between non-gambling sessions as we walk the strip 😉
We notice only Danny the Medic seams to give a honest opinion on food. As he is the only one that ever says something is not good. When they give him free he says it and sometimes he says it’s not great
Golden Steer is not the best!!! I hated the bread too much garlic!!! The Salmon and chicken plate not much flavor. Very disappointed 😢 Influencer’s should let us know if they comp their meal 🥘
The sparkling reviews and cheerleading from influencers without disclosing that they're being paid or comped is 100% disingenuous. Their reviews are paid advertisements and the influencer's credibility is undermined by their purposeful dishonesty.
I think a lot of these influencers get paid by casinos , restaurants, to promote area. Free meals and casino / slot players they must give them money to play with and promote their casino name over and over in their videos. You can tell difference- when they get a big win - hardly any excitement or it’s phoney excitement. I won’t say which ones do it. But - my opinion on that.
"One of the unfortunate things is that we've had to talk bad about Caesars quite often...." Shawn's always so nice, even when talking about all of the horrible things Caesars does. You're fine Shawn. Caesars is consistently hideous.
I have never had any problems ever with Caesars. I think comps are fair , all food is great. My opinion- but I guess everyone has their favorite places they go.
@@Milestomemories You're always such a nice guy. But I do love when you cover Caesars many shenanigans. I enjoy laughing and cringing in disbelief with you and Mark.
Regarding the power outage. Back in the 90s I was at the Gold Nugget when the power went out. Nothing worked except the Machines they were on backup generators 🤓
I booked two nights at Rio the end of May (Sunday - Tuesday) just to go up on the rooftop only to find out they are only open on Fri and Sat. nights. Do they have a public observation deck at Palms? We saw Kelly Clarkson at PH Bakkt Theater and she was a lot of fun. I'd rather see Kelly than Adelle.
I have to agree that the CapOne lounge (I've only been to the one in DFW) is much better than the Centurion in DFW. The Centurion here in Vegas is decent enough, and Julian the bartender got to know me a lot last year, awesome bartender. It's funny that the Centurion is packed because anyone with that access also has access to both ClubLAS Priority Club Lounges... when Centurion was packed I just went to the other. Sure, it's not as good (subjectively speaking), but I rather sit down and eat, drink and put on headphones than stand in line waiting for an hour.
$480,000 average per home lol the average is 2x+ in my county, north of Seattle. I might have to move to Vegas, as opposed to visiting several times a year, but I can’t take the heat too long lol
I live in Rhodes ranch right near the Durango station and I am praying they don’t waste the space on a movie theatre and bowling alley. Depending on how phase 2 goes I’d rather the additional expansion be an entertainment venue. Either a small concert venue or a place for standup comedy etc and then one new 24 hour restaurant. The George is a nice place to watch a game but it’s a horrible restaurant. Would rather see a lucky penny like they have at GVR or Red Rock and then turn The George into a a deli/ game food spot. If phase 2 goes well then the rest of the space for phase 3 should be for more regular gaming. Maybe bingo and some additional space for regular slots since phase 2 seems to be mostly high limit expansion. And also maybe the second hotel tower to add more rooms.
@ yeah the food isn’t terrible it’s just not what at 24 hours spot at a casino should be.for instance they only serve breakfast from 7am to noon. The food does seem like an after thought for the George though.
To savvy viewers, it is so obvious that some of these influencers are getting paid or at least getting free meals and drinks. It's sickening to hear them gush about everything on the menu, and how everything tastes like it's the best thing on Earth. When I see this, the influencers lose my respect - no matter how good their other videos may have been - and they lose me as a viewer. But these videos also do something else, especially the Las Vegas ones, in that the prices are revealed, and they are just effing ridiculous! As much as I would like to go back to Las Vegas, it ain't going to happen, but hey, thanks for letting me know! I may let the channel get away once, but after that it's buh bye! Shawn and Mark, thank you for your honest, trustworthy videos and conversation.
Yeah the price thing is hard. Sometimes I find myself downplaying price when discussing things because it gets old to complain all of the time. But then I travel and realize just how expensive it really is. When I was at Universal last October and everything seemed cheap I knew I was too much in the Vegas price bubble.
What do you think about Vegas influencers, marketing and disclosures?

I deleted Vegas Starfish last year because she was being paid by Vegas' tourist board, and additionally, a restaurant could them to give larger steaks, higher quality food for video purposes than a person walking in. Very dishonest.
Danny the medic is the best influencer
Danny 😂
Shit you fucking wizzed that thing
#ad
it's that simple
💯
This channel and your channel are my favorites.
@ thank you Lisa
I also love this Chanel and and Josh and Rachel. Just watched some videos today with the wife getting ready for our yearly vegas trip…keep up the good work!
@ hope you have a great trip
I appreciate you providing your honest opinions. It’s one of the reasons I watch your content. If an influencer constantly says everything is awesome I become skeptical. I prefer someone sharing their sincere opinions. 😊
I think I'm one of the few people who don't care much for airport lounges, I have access to Delta Airlines lounge through my work. I hardly ever go there when I'm at the airport.
I'm glad to see that Vudoo Lounge is back, it's the only the reason why I would go hang at The Rio. Lol!
I pretty much only use them if I have a layover. Not a person that gets to the airport early just to go to the lounge myself.
Thank you to our co-hosts for this fun Friday segment. I spent a lot of time at BC (no gambling). BC was the “company town” during construction phase of Boulder Dam
Thanks Fred!
$18.50 beer....I just buy one and pass it around to my buddies....like we're drinking moonshine! Lol
Why did the rams cross the road?
It wasn’t a baa-d idea!
I’m with you guys, i want content to be honest and forthcoming, that’s why watch you guys.
Cheap hotels used to have cheap deals. Now, everything is luxury prices. I always bring my own water and drinks to the room.
Influencer that are sponsored are no different that those people that hand out those flyers along the Strip. I would rather watch unbias content like on MTM.
MTM is the only podcast I watch from the area on a weekly basis. Fun and informative and I haven't gotten sand kicked in my face - yet! 🤣
Keep it real Shawn and Mark!
It would be great if these food reviewers, influencers were open and honest about not paying for the check.
You button hooked me, I didn’t think you were gonna button hook me. That thing is pointy, fellas….
Love it!! Called it out to my wife( who couldn’t care less) the minute you said it!
Haha nice
Cant beat the view from the Voodoo Lounge.
💯
For sure. I'd probably choose Legacy Club at Circa as #2.
TH-cam requires disclosure of paid promotion, so if they aren’t tagging it as promoted then it’s a violation of the a terms of service
$18 for a can of beer? I hope Vegas gets six Formula 1 races per year!
😂
Thank you for keeping em honest
Thanks for watching!
No offense to you guys but I'm tapping out on all Vegas content going forward. The greed has gotten to the point I don't even want to go there anymore.
IKR
Yeah I think the problem is the FTC has never really enforced it and I doubt it begins now.
Jacob is a fear mongering LV channel. Scary looking thumbnails and clickbait.
Thanks for another great video, guys. Keep up the good work. I'll be back out there in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, i don't get stuck on a cosmopolitan elevator
Have a great trip! I really hope it doesn’t ever happen to me. 😂
@Milestomemories BTW, I'll have a wrap around suite, and my friend and his wife will have one of the top penthouses. Let me know if you are interested in doing a video on it. We have no issues letting you get some footage.
Have a great trip
Sorry, but on a completely different subject, if you are missing the Tropicana, you can revisit the resort on Google Maps street view, which even suggests you can still get a coffee at the Starbucks there….
They are exhausting. I’ve stopped watching all of them. I’ll stick with you two for any Vegas content.
domestic beers at cocaine prices.. WTF?
Oh Shawn
Thank you much for your closing comments!❤
I've been waiting , and thank you for the Great laugh on my Birthday!🎉 I needed that.
Happy Birthday!!!!
Glad to help! Happy birthday. 🎁 😂
Good choice!
@markostermann6632 reminds me of the lakeside towns in my area of West Tennessee
Like Nikes motto. New vegas motto JUST SAY NO TO VEGAS PERIOD!!!!
O'Sheas has surprised me before also. Bought an $18 Jameson shot. The bartender saw the surprise on my face and hooked me up w a strong pour.
If you want to stay legal you need to do the following when you are sponsored:
Include disclosures in three key areas: written in description, superimposed over video, and verbally in video.
I also enjoy watching Anthony Curtis and Andrew Hunt on Las Vegas Advisor.
Not disclosing being paid to promote a business is abhorrent and should be banned. $18.50 for a beer, check-in lines that stretch forever with not enough desk agents, record profits for casinos. My days of visiting $egas are over
It’s also an FCC violation
I'm staying at Rio right now. 26th floor of Masquerade Tower. The offer said strip view, but what I see is Trump Tower and Resorts World. Check in was one hour. The water in the shower is somewhere between hot and cold. I'm enjoying the warm weather.
Sounds about right! 😬
Have a good trip
Why $18 for a cheap tall boy? Because ppl keep paying it. I did see a guy at planet Hollywood laugh at the bartender when he tried to charge $18 for a bud light. He told the tender to shove it and the tender got mad since he had already opened them. LOL
Those Rams are majestic. If I ever get to live in Las Vegas, boulder would be high on my list.
The Goat from before the Ragoo Festival
Minor correction: The Sterling Club is located at Turnberry PLACE. Turnberry TOWERS is a different condo development just up the street.
Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed the concert! At that price they should at least offer a discounted double.
@@Milestomemories I agree!
Kevin Sweet is top notch, tier 1. Smart and genuinely a good person, and he took Cosmo to another kevel. Rio is in trouble without him. Any group that grabs him will be lucky. However, his floor plans need more garbage receptacles. ;)
"Heeeeey goat" Oh shit. You better KNOT mention that again.
Social media is nothing but one big infomercial . . . guess I shouldn't mention that Mark is Billy Mays' nephew?
We notice only Danny the Medic seams to give a honest opinion on food. As he is the only one that ever says something is not good. When they give him free he says it and sometimes he says it’s not great
Jacob does as well.
Excellent show as always!
Golden Steer is not the best!!! I hated the bread too much garlic!!! The Salmon and chicken plate not much flavor. Very disappointed 😢 Influencer’s should let us know if they comp their meal 🥘
I too can't wait for the C1 lounge at LAS. Any idea when the JFK one will open?
The sparkling reviews and cheerleading from influencers without disclosing that they're being paid or comped is 100% disingenuous. Their reviews are paid advertisements and the influencer's credibility is undermined by their purposeful dishonesty.
Plus they make their video content and get paid by TH-cam too .
Re: The price of beer (and this applies to pretty much everything) in Vegas - they wouldn't charge it if people weren't paying it.
Am open to learning about new or overlooked places, but be open - dont care, just need to know
I think a lot of these influencers get paid by casinos , restaurants, to promote area.
I just like having positive things to say. Couldn’t let this one pass by though without the discussion.
@@Milestomemories You're always such a nice guy. But I do love when you cover Caesars many shenanigans. I enjoy laughing and cringing in disbelief with you and Mark.
Thanks for the info + video!
Thanks for watching!
You guys are great! Love to watch you🥰
Regarding the power outage. Back in the 90s I was at the Gold Nugget when the power went out. Nothing worked except the Machines they were on backup generators 🤓
Protect the money!
Gouging for sure, when did a hamburger get to $35.00? @ gordon Ramsey I think?
Thanks fellas!
Thanks for watching!
Yeah Ghost Bar has an outdoor deck but entry to the bar varies depending on the day. Sometimes you can just go up and others it is more like a club.
The Ghost Bar is not open every night. If you go over to the Palms, Mabel's BBQ, Scotch 80, and the dim sum restaurant are all very good.
But Adele was awesome in Skyfall.
@ thank you
I have to agree that the CapOne lounge (I've only been to the one in DFW) is much better than the Centurion in DFW.
Yeah the Centurion here isn’t bad it just isn’t as good as Cap One. I really love their lounges and love the guest access policy too.
$480,000 average per home lol the average is 2x+ in my county, north of Seattle. I might have to move to Vegas, as opposed to visiting several times a year, but I can’t take the heat too long lol
Hey goat! What’s going on? Just tied to this pickup truck as usual! - classic Sandler !
Sad to hear The George has bad food. Such a cool spot to take in a game like you said
@ yeah the food isn’t terrible it’s just not what at 24 hours spot at a casino should be.for instance they only serve breakfast from 7am to noon. The food does seem like an after thought for the George though.
Thanks guys.
Thanks for watching!
Islanders so called new owner was Spanos. Spanos was a High School mate of Urban Meyer in Ohio.
😂you guys are hilarious! Good show!
Thanks Melanie
Great show. Thx gents.
