I have always felt that this was the definitive version of the song. It has no equal!

This is an incredible rendition, but I completely disagree, listen to Sinatra, Elvis or Tom Jones sing this song and you too might change your mind!

*_Most people didn't know Jim Nabors was an awesome vocalist..._*
To most people, Jim Nabors was Gomer Pyle in the Marine Corp. He was both an actor and a singer. He did both quite well. He never actually talked like Gomer, that was pure comedy acting. He had a beautiful voice, both speaking and singing.
*_The world was a little less amazing with the passing of Jim Nabers._*

What about the look on Carter's face while Gomer was singing?

Yes he did many operatic songs, spirituals/gospel, what an instrument. An individual that was very much blessed. I do have many of his recordings, from the 60' s and so. What a very talented man, much blessed. He may have left us, but he is still with us through his recordings, and tv shows. He is very much missed.

He only spoke that way and exaggerated his voice that way because he was asked for the show. I read this. Do research and you'll find it.
