This is my first time seeing your work, and I am so amazed at what I have learned today. I am fairly new to watercolor, and overcoming my fear has really been difficult for me. I really learned a lot about creating the “depth” that I have struggled with. Thank you so much, I am now a true fan of yours!
Hi Loretta, thank you for your lovely comment, so glad that you have learned something from the video especially about the depth! I am also chuffed that you have become a fan!! :)

Thanks Karen. I've watched several of your tutorials. I've enjoyed your artwork, but especially I appreciate the way you explain why you do certain things, what to avoid and why.
thats one of the best ideas is to walk away for a bit and come back with a fresh eye, its amazing what you can notice just from a little 10-15 min walk away.
this was a wonderful tutorial, thank you! I didn't have masking fluid so instead I coloured in the petals of the daisy with a white wax crayon before I started painting, and it worked pretty well.
My favorite flowers are Daisy’s and Bearded Iris! This is so beautiful. I’m very frustrated and new to watercolor, but I will try this. You explained it so nicely. Thank you!!! 💐
Wow! You're my new obsession! I've done several cityscapes, have the dandelion drying & now this! Great explanations as well! ...I wish I knew about all the great weatercolor artists when I lived in England...but then again I didn't have money..... Thanks for sharing your talents with us!
Thank you Jane for your great comment! I am delighted that you have discovered me and there are plenty of more videos to follow! I hope you enjoy trying this daisy painting out! Good luck, happy painting :-)
I love your tutorials Karen. Your tips are spot on...today's tip about removing the masking fluid with the tape is such a time-saver and makes it very easy. I have only been painting for a few months, and I am now fully addicted. If I don't make the time for it in my day I feel very deprived...thank you for being such a generous teacher...
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, I am delighted that you love my tutorials and are finding them really useful! Especially the tip about removing the masking fluid. I hope you can make lots of time for painting in the day! Happy painting :-)
We call them blocks...the gummed pads! Just superb daisies growing in the wild. Lovely. Have always loved daisies, buttercups, violets, primroses and bluebells and dog Roses and snowdrops and crocus flowers. Too many more to say
Hi Karen greetings from Costa Rica. I painted these flowers twice and just love the second one I posted on Instagram and tagged you. Thank you for teaching me how to paint Daisys.
Oh Ms. Rice, what a glorious painting! It’s so vibrant and joyful. Your painting makes me happy! I do have masking fluid. I’m going to paint this at least two times. One for my mom and one for me. My deepest appreciation for your video. ❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🏆
This painting is very beautiful. The best part of your videos are the learnings we get. I have never painted flowers, your painting has inspired me to try. I love the white standing out from the background greens. Please teach us how to paint a tree close by as well as far away. Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much for your comment Kashi, really glad that you liked the painting and that it has inspired you to paint! I will be painting a tree close up in the near future… So look out for that tutorial! Happy painting, :-)
really really nice! love your use of blue-grey to finish off the daisies - just the right amount! I have a tendency to overdo that part, and I've always used more of a lavender-ish grey blue. I think I'll leave out the lavender and since I always paint with a messy palette, I'll pick up some bits of green and see if I get the pretty results you've demonstrated here. Thanks for the video! oh, and I've never seen one of those Pebeo masking fluid pens before; I'll look for one of those now that I know about them! 🎨😊🖌
I just finished this one today and didn't expect that it would turn out so beautiful😃In the end I decided to finish it off with some gold metallic splatters, so happy with it! I did quite some Tutorials from you and learn so much from it! So thankyou so much🤍 Totally into salt and working with masking fluid now. Love the effect of it.
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial. Daisies are my favorite flowers, now I have an idea how to paint them. Your picture looks fabulous. Thanks again.
Helga what a lovely comment! Thank you! Daisies are one of my favourite flowers.... I am so glad it has given you an insight into how to paint them! Happy Painting :)
Thank you for sharing this! You've helped me work though an issue I was having with a floral watercolor. Viewing inside a mat made me take the chance I was done and complete stem details. 😊
That's literally music to my ears! Thank you, so glad using the mat worked for you. It can make you more objective about your own work! Thank you for your great comment! :)
Favorite Daisy painting ever!!! There is definitely something about water colored daisies that draws me to them!!! Thanks for the tutorial-I will be looking into the Masking pen.
Thank you, you are such an inspiration. I haven’t touch my paints in a while but this has got me excited to get them out. Thanks for your efforts in making these videos and encouraging us to have a go,
Karen Rice Art Channel I painted one Karen, it’s not as nice as yours but I’m happy with it. I actually found your channel because I want to paint Daisies, lol.
I absolutely loved your video - I’m new to water watercolours and am inspired by watching this! Your explanation is something I can understand as your very clear with what to do,what’s happening to the paints and why- Thanku so much!
Right, well - I've done this lovely tutorial, Karen! Thank you so much for it. I give yours eleven out of ten and mine four out of ten BUT I had so much fun doing it and am going to put mine on the wall regardless of my lack of talent! That was a couple of hours well spent!! Love from Mel in Devon 🍰🌻
Another Gem watching while I am baking ANZAC biscuits ....can't wait to try this will use my ETCHR book I think as a first trial to work out how the method.
Hi Karen - I have just completed this and really enjoyed the project: I feel like a repeat on a blur sky now … 😉. My best experience to remove large quantities of masking tape is to use a masking tape eraser/remover - it’s like the crepe sole of a shoe - works really well 👍😁
Hi Karen, thank you so much for all your tutorials. I am such a fan ! I've just finished this Daisy tutorial and I'm quite pleased with the result and want to try a sunflower next. I wonder if you can give me some tips on using salt ? I never seem to get it quite right. I normally leave the paper until it's damp not soaking but it still doesn't seem to work as it should. Should I leave it until it's almost dry ? Thanks in advance xx
So pleased you finished the daisy tutorial Helen, I hope you enjoy painting the sunflower. You may find this tutorial I published about salt helpful: th-cam.com/video/1Hs9mBrwj5w/w-d-xo.html
