    PAPER: W&N Watecolour paper block 300gsm CP
    WINSOR & NEWTON FIELD BOX
    MASKING FLUID
    BRUSHES: Size 10 & size 4 round brush, Mop Brush
    TAPE
    PAINTS: Winsor & Newton: Ultramarine, Prussian Blue, Paynes Grey, Opera Rose, Cadmium Yellow, Quinacridone Gold.
    SPRITZER BOTTLE: Derwent Spritzer Bottle
    TWIG: The twig is from an apple tree, but you can use a twig from any tree. If it's fresh from the tree, just let it dry out for a bit then just sharpen it with a pencil sharpener.

    i also love poppies, i worked with oils for over 40 yrs. now watercolor which is so soft and delicate, during this time i need to get back into it. your videos are wonderful very informative ❤️

    Love this one so much. I think you are spot on about the mid tones. Gonna do my interpretation of this over weekend when not overwhelmed with homeschooling my granddaughter! We are all in strict isolation here in Indiana, USA. Take care all.

    I told you my son had treated me to everything I need to water paint,I am going to give this a try later when Craig finds the right TWIG!!     Lovely..good comment about spoiling a painting with mid tones,checking with a mount is helpful,do that myself

      Thank you Linda for your comment. I spent years building up mid tones and always ended up losing the light! I try to get to the darks and details as quick as possible. The mount is such a good idea, just makes us more objective. :)

    I loved this painting. Actually I love watching all of your videos. They lift my spirits every time. Poppies are so delightful in bloom.
    I just pruned some unruly native stray something in my yard this week. I'm thinking there are some good twigs in the bunch. Can't wait to use them.

      Thank you so much David. I think what I meant was that many watercolours I have observed for years end up with mid tones, not lights or dark tones. Many of my students are scared of painting dark tonal colours. Hope this makes sense :)

    Poppies allude me. I cannot paint them. They end up looking like lolly pops!!. Your work is stunning thank you for sharing. It is very generous

    Loved your tutorial. Thank you. 1question- you put on masking fluid and later you painted on it. Do you need to remove it before painting over it?

      Thank you Tina. I removed the masking fluid at 5.53 and painted the poppies, sorry it was not clear... hope this was helpful 😊

    Hi. Why do you use white gouach at the end of the painting, and not white water colour? Regards Jim.

      I find white watercolour a little too transparent, white gouache is more opaque 😀
