There is a lot vtubers from second life in YT who stream regularly and make tutorials. Ther is even 2 movies made in SL, many thetrical plays, live concersts. You need just search and you find all this stuff.
honestly, your secondlife experience is better if you look good - use different body mesh and stuff. it's because people tend to create new account to grief and ruin their experience, so people are standoffish with those wearing newbie default avatar
@@gatodelluvia4735 This is VERY true! my main friend is actually Japanese and many otehr friends are German, French and Brazillian. And SOOooo many MANY many of them are terrified to voice becasue they have been made of for not speaking English very well. So they choose to text. Also, A TON of people that are seen in AFK mose are usually inwolrd during hteir normal work hours...or... they remain inworld and have gone to RL bed. lol So many flip-flopped time zones! :P
it depends where you hang out. Myself, I used to be only text, eventually i started voicing, now i do that more often. Granted, this is usually with regular friends. if I am at a place among strangers i will usually text only.
Other than language barriers, some people don’t have mics, some people don’t like using voice and just prefer it, many places like clubs just don’t allow for various reasons
I dont agree, it is up what comp you have. If it is not so good then Firestorm or some other third part viewer but if you have good comp official viewer is best. You need manage your graphic options well and with good comp you dont even have lag with ultra setings. Firestorm is so slow with updates what causes weird stuff and craches until they finally after some 3-6 month update but by that time LL has made new changes, fixes and you start soon have issues with FS again. Official viewer has automatic updates so you never miss any and always are able to get best of best from SL.
Better UI, custom camera, adaptive experimental graphic setting, granted its not always have the most recent update, but the barebone feature of official viewer kinda hard for me to use it since i got used to fs. And the lag? Probably just on settings, Just dont set your draw distance too high and you'll be fine
Japan Tempura is actually the best place I've ever found in SL to make new friends easily. You just go to the social parts where there's a group of people like the meditation and start talking. I think voice is disabled there, but you can easily start conversation in chat. That's the case everywhere. People are more social in text than voice, simply because at least half the population disables voice on their viewer. (I'm one of those). It's because when you hear someone's voice, it somehow ruins the immersion of being in another reality. People will almost always respond to text. If they don't, they're either afk or buried in an IM conversation and not paying attention to local chat. It also helps to put something in your profile. A blank profile is always suss to a paranoid SL population. It can be anything you feel like, from why you're there, to lyrics of a song you like, to a clever quote, to a joke. You can have a look at other people's profiles to get the idea. It just gives your avatar a personality. If it's good, people will actually IM you to comment. Like an icebreaker.
Yeah back when I was desperate for attention and needed some kind of human interaction SNB was my go too. LOL Proud to say I haven't been in over a year. lol
Just going by the destination guide is barely scratching the surface of what's available in SL. The Search function is great for finding places based on what you want to do. If you want to go to a music/dance club, you can specify the kind of music you want and the Search results will give you a list, based on the amount of traffic those places get. Obviously, the popular places are going to show higher traffic. The trade-off is that high traffic areas may have a lot more lag, or they're just full of bots and alts that don't talk anyway.
You were asked to leave New Citizens Incorporated, they help new players all the time. That was my go to place for Second Life help. The Firestorm help area you said was the most helpful has some fun places to visit. Second Life is social but it's also interactive. There are a lot of cool things to do in Second Life besides trying to find someone to talk to. This video was fun to watch. Make some more of Second Life :)
from what i understand most on SL have anxiety or aspergers so takes them time to get used to new ppl around them. best to wait till they chat to u. My friend gave a me a cage to get in when someone attacked me so they couldnt get at me. havnt had to use it yet.
you don't get interacted with until the new wears off.. in other words.. get a new avatar by spending money for the latest body, head, animation overrider, and hair and clothes .. sadly.
Best is start from some newbie welcoming places where volunteers help you find cheapes ways to get decent looks first, teach you how to behave is SL so you could find freinds and not scare people away. Most places what use voice are where trolls come find whom to bully or are private places for some group of friends. Mostly people use text. Why? Bc not everybod yin S Lspeaks english or spanish or french but most are able write it or use translator to understand. So unformally eng is language to socialize in general. SL is very very big and waste and is all time changing, evolving. So if you come to SL and doesnt treat it like tinder or like some video game you start find intersting places, people, events and things to do.
Hey I tried Secondlife but my computer broke in 2015. If I ever get a new computer and try SL again I'll look you up. I encountered alot of users into role-playing but that's nothing I ever did. I went to a couple combat regions. I also flew a few airplanes and drove a working, shooting tank. The dogfights were fun. There is also a boating community, active around the Blake Sea. Hollywood Airport is also there. And any other things people can conjure up and program/code into SL objects. I remember golfing with someone. And another guy I knew always went to Hotlanta Blues. For his birthday we region-hopped. I remember sky diving and driving bumper cars like in a carnival.
Love these vids! You crack me up... bringing back my noob days with zero knowledge and complete helplessness of finding friends. lol Just know there's hope at the end of this rabbit hole, good sir. ha
I would suggest looking up when live singer performances are happening & visit those places when an event is happening. Make sure to turn up your music stream to hear the performance. You will see a lot of people in one place with a lot of local text chatter. As a courtesy it is usually expected to not voice inworld though during a performance so as not to detract from the singer
I only go back into SL about once a year. My long-time avatar now is naked and androgynous but completely black, and I've also been a short and intentionally (but realistically) unattractive woman in a burka. Honestly, both are me trolling the typical hypersexualized cartoon avatars, but I hope in an interesting way.
Sameeee .... its hard to meet ppl in sl . Only man are like flirting and stuff(thats not what i want ) and woman are like '' i hate her cuz she is a woman''
I'm the woman in a black gown you described as the one who was looking out to sea waiting for mr right, something to that effect. I would have greeted you but voice no longer works for me in sl, willow M. but you need a nicer avatar if you want conversation and I no longer do voice with someone I don't already know. had you approached me in a more obvious manner and used my name I would have texted you back. I am not sure if I was afk at the time or not. have a great day ;p I'm there at hypnotic a lot but you can always send me an offline if I don't respond and I will get back to you.
well your video came up for me, you seem like nice streamer, but in my option, only my own option so please do not take any offence as I know you being nice, and you seem to want to learn, why no one want to talk to you. as you did nothing to really understand that SL really is. if you want to chat with people then you have to make some effort to understand that secondlife is a social community where the can meet like minded individuals who share same interests and likes, so your aproch to walk in talk to people can come off as troll/grifer. because in my experiences that how most griffer style act they have a basic avatar look becuase most trolls/griffer make new accounts after they get band from SL, so when the encounter you, you have two strike against you, Also i unsure if you done anything to you profile, so i can say much to that, but if you do not have anything in you profile, like picture, and some text about yourself, that would be strike 3, if you really wanting to learn and understand what Secondlife is like, then you should do some home work to really learn, put some money toward you avatar would help, second try to treat people how you want to be respected, and last put some really effort into you profile, and you would find lot of people who are social on SL, and know that SL is not really a game but social construct where like minded people can meet people they never would get the chance to meet in real life, so i hope that help some, and well i hope you have a wonderful day, and it you find what ever it is you looking for in Secondlife and that you find happiness,
I love how people mock second life without understanding what second life culture is and they always go to the places that people don't go to on a regular basis
There is several things about Second Life you need to understand, it is NOT a game it is a social and creative environment, it is a place for people to come and create and meet people of like minds. Most SL residents and extremely shy in real life (not all but some). If you run around just horning in on conversations you will get snubbed, especially looking like a nOOb because there are lots of greifers that create accounts just for spite and never change from the default shape that they start with. The older residents do NOT voice, if they do voice they use something like Skype for privacy . Voice was not part of SL in the beginning. Change your viewer to Firestorm because it is the best viewer out there. Once you change how you look and stop trying to talk to people with voice and learn the rules things will change for you. I would be more than happy to show you my piece of a sim(they are not called worlds) if I knew you were not filming. And finally, and this is a hard one stop filming all of your encounters and immerse yourself into it.
What metaverse/social app should I check out next?
Horizon Worlds please!
recroom, i suggest your aim should be to join a military since they can be fun but first explore recroom freely.
If you haven't done IMVU do it next.
I'm on Second Life! Thesalemnights is my tag!
@@MonsterBatStudios doing this one ASAP maybe this week~~

This is accurate, the better your avi looks (or at least mesh) the more people will take you seriously,
I'm still a newbie and I've found most people just prefer text chat. Also a LOT of people just afk while ingame too haha
People prefer text chat bc not all are fluent in eng. SL has people from all ower the globe not only from US or UK.
