Hey Grant got a two part project for you: bouncy, colored, refillable, smoke grenades. First make some proto-putty and shape it to accept your smoke core. For better dispersion you can make the grenade round and inside add a weight to the bottom so it will try to stay upright. Then do your normal smoke mix but melt in an oil crayon, that will give your smoke color.
Or make putty with holes, so it could smoke everywhere as it burns

Crayons, even the oil-type, will not produce colored smoke.
The smoke bomb still worked underground because the KNO3 works as an oxidizer making it so you can't smother the flame.
Yeah the KNO3 producers oxygen when heated which makes the fire burn mor vigorously because because it’s burning of pure oxygen not 20%oxygen and 80%nitrogen

Lightspit No, Just... No the Waffel patern are there for a reason the lines between the squares are weaker then the squares itself so the lines break first and the squares fly away Like bullets. That makes the (hand)grenade lethal.

That's what I was thinking. Lithium makes a red. But not sure it would do well in a hot pan of sugar and nitrogen. The right chemistry would work. Don't think dye's would do it.

You should make a tutorial on how to make coloured smoke grenades :) in an easy and cheap way. I've seen vids of peope using wax crayons and baking soda in the same mixture as you use now but dont know if that works.

Yeah I know they don't work that well, it burns to hot therefore the baking soda to lower the burnrate and temperature.
And there are some wax crayons that use the same kind of organic colouring as used in ordinary coloured smoke bombs( the ones you buy like Enola ).
I know potassium chlorate can be used and organic dyes but as you mention they are not that cheap and potassium chlorate is more sensitive/reactive.
Thats why I want Grant to find out and make tutorials for a cheap and easy way to make coloured smoke bombs :).

There is no cheap way to make colored smoke because the special dyes needed are very expensive.

Fairex we threw copper in a fire last chemistry lesson end it got green, because the metal oxydises. look at old roofs of for example churches and you will see the exakt same thing

If you go get 2 drones and connected the drones with some pole like object (Like a pipe or broom handle) and then recorded it flying around, then had a vr headset with one drone for each eye, could you view the world as a giant?
Robert Stegmann Theoretically, however make sure that the controllers of the drones are coordinated, and the connector is firm, not flimsy.
Or you could just mount both cameras to the same platform. Then you only need one controller and wouldn't have to worry about spacing.

No its not actually. Forest fires are very hard to start usually when the trees aren't dry. If they're green it's super hard. It has to be very dry out and the tree leaves / pines have to be orange. To start super easily

Your solid fuel mixture continues to burn underground because it carries it's own oxidizer, so it's not dependent on oxygen from the atmosphere. Heck, I bet it'd even work underwater once it started burning (please try that! :D)
