Such a clever ideas using the penny rolls, I've seen people use toilet paper rolls and I'm thinking how many bathroom breaks do I have to take in order to make a bunch of these? 😂 Pape towel rolls work too, but these look like the perfect size.

wrap paper around a broom stick handle then wrap some layers of duck tape around the paper then just slide it off and cut to size. you can add in different layers of different tapes for different properties. eg foil tape that is wrapped in fiber glass tape is fire resistant and strong

For anybody's that's curious or is making these here is some math that's not put into the video
Recipe within a gram btw for 1 pound of smoke mix
Potasium chlorate: 112g
Lactose: 82g
Magnesium carbonate: 72g
Baking soda: 13g
Pigment: 163g
1 pound of mix = 25 smoke bombs (penny wrap)
Average Total cost of materials (excluding: tape, fuse, wrapper.) = $147.86 (pigment = 66% of cost)
These bombs cost an average of : $5.91

Can you make a rainbow smoke bomb that switches colors? I'm thinking maybe you could just layer the dyes.

you'd need some divider I think to prevent the colours blending. Maybe one or two layers of cardboard?
Just divide it with flash paper so it doesn't burn for too long!
Have you considered maybe making clay endcaps? Maybe compressing everything to get a product that burns longer and stays together better?

You should make a rainbow smoke grenade by stacking the different colors on top of each other so when one burns out it goes to the next color

Yes probably, the dye most likely has metallic salts which can be toxic.
You can use the blue smoke (or blue fire from another TKOR video) for a Godzilla cosplay

Could you stack the different powders in layers? So that the smoke would shift colors, following a rainbow pattern, mid burn? Or would they burn too quick and just go black?
Hey you should attach the smoke bombs to the random rocket or any rocket and lit both of at the same time to see the smoke as it traveles with the rocket. That would be cool.

Hey Grant, what about compacting or compressing the smoke powder in the tube? Maybe use some sort of metal damper and press it as you go. You may get a longer burn time and you wouldn't have to worry about spilling the powder. One of your ingredients was an oxidizer I think, so it should work!

Be careful with potassium chlorate, often it's mixture are pressure/friction sensitive and you can have a sudden runaway reaction.

I believe if you melt candle wax and mix the mixture with it it will make it burn longer

Put the mix in a metal tea mixing ball, so when it is lit it comes out from every side
I’m making these down in Panama. It doesn’t cost as much as a comment below lays out. I got 2kg of magnesium carbonate and 2kg of lactose for a total of $36, a 25kg sack of potassium chlorate for $110 (I couldn’t get it in smaller quantities), and 0.5kg of dye for $10. This puts me at an effective $54 for 8kg of white mix, ignoring the smidgen of baking soda. About a third of the total mix is dye, so, at the rate of $10 per 0.5kg, that puts 12kg of smoke composition at $130, or only $5 per pound. I got my stuff at an industrial supply store, Max E. Jimenez, not Amazon. I saw exceedingly high prices there, like $15 for 100g of potassium chlorate. Happy colored smoke!

if you are careful not to mix the dye layers as you do it, easier said than done. most fireworks use sacrificial paper spacers or use paper wrapped sections

Potassium nitrate due to the fact that it burns at really higher temperatures, will incinerate the dye (giving us no colour as a ramification)

Husky Studios attaching a balloon should do it smoke grande would fill the balloon when it popped there would be a smoke explosion or the balloon would melt
You could also just tweak the mixture, another ratio of the chemicals can lead to far more energetic mixture... Unfortunately it would likely just result in black smoke.
