Bread is so expensive now. So, ultimately, a bread maker might be more cost effective. Since I retired I've eaten WAY more bread, so am spending quite a bit, even though I'm choosing the cheaper loaves. Can also add lots of healthy stuff (seeds etc) if you make your own. Thanks for all this useful info.
Very useful Richard, thank you. I have a very ancient, very basic bread machine which I stopped using many years ago. In fact I gave up bread making completely until I made a comment on one of your other videos and you recommended Paul's stand mixer bread video. I've been using that method ever since. But this is making me want a machine like yours.

What a great video, Richard! 🥖🍞🫓🥨 Now we do bake all our breads by hand (rye or wheat, yeast or sourdough). One of the reasons is one that you mention: our countertop space is at a premium, but also because, tbh, every other bread we bake is baguette 🥖 and we usually bake rolls at the same time for freezing and then putting on the toaster 😉 We've managed to fit the baking into our routines, though, so it's not too much of a bother (most of the time). However, having said that: I've recommended bread making machines to quite a few people who don't want to make bread by hand for whatever reason. It's such an easy alternative to buying bread at the store - often less expensive, so much more transparent (ingredients), and also likely healthier than supermarket bread (we do have artisanal bakeries in Germany all over the place, but we still prefer to bake our own). I will have to try that recipe you made for the video - still haven't found the perfect recipe for a basic white loaf.

Now we do bake all our breads by hand (rye or wheat, yeast or sourdough).
However, having said that:
I've recommended bread making machines to quite a few people who don't want to make bread by hand for whatever reason.
Very helpful, thank you 😊
