I just got this for Christmas. Thank you so much for your thorough review, gentle commentary, and generally lovely demeanour! I can now use my breadmaker with confidence. Thanks so much!
Hi, could you please tell me what the small square box besides nuts dispenser is? At first, I thought it was the yeast dispenser, then I realize yeast dispenser should be the circle one.
I could write almost EXACTLY the same comment, Mike. My parents are still using their SD BT 2P; I have my grandmother’s (same model), and we have purchased one off eBay (from an estate sale, used only once) for cottage use. I’m not sure what it is about that machine (apart from being solid, almost whisper quiet) that makes bread so well. At times, the crust almost achieves a croissant-like flake/crispness. Insane, is right!
Just got the same bread maker. The instructions provided were rubbish, glad I found your video! Can’t wait to test my first loaf of bread. Very helpful, thank you 😊
Well done a very comprehensive review .i bought the model below @£159 And made whole meal 7 seeded loaf with as you did excellent results .it has seed dispenser but not a yeast dispenser and does not preheat ( so those two features add £80 to the price I paid) so if the budget is tight go for the SD-R2530 and the results will be the same without the bells and whistles ,your demonstration was excellent and gave me an honest comparison to compare against the model I purchased .
I’ve just purchased this model, never had a bread making machine before. I used the machine before watching your demo. I did it ok! 🙄but I’d just like to say thank you so much for your demo it made it so much easier and has put my mind at rest. 🤣👍
Thank you. Panasonic make the best breadmakers and I have had a few over the years and non make bread as well as the Panasonic. They invented them, so it stands to reason I suppose. Enjoy! Hope you love yours as much as I love mine.
this is a really good video, please do more about the Panasonic SD-YR2540. you made this look so easy. , your video convinced me to get one on prime day
That was an excellent review. I have just bought a new Panasonic SD-YR2550, had read the book but I was nervous when it sat there quietly with the timer running . My default to panic is always to seek guidance from TH-cam. Initially, I was directed to the Panasonic site - that gave celebrity demos, but little detail. Next was your video - you covered the process and detail brilliantly, gave an absolutely perfect summary of the process and the machine's operating stages. Thank you so much, mine is now happily whirring away, making my first Rye loaf. Your bread looked amazing! Thank you again, Vox.
Aww thank you for your kind words, I hope your rye bread was good. I have made it myself and, well, I think it may be an acquired taste, lol. I love this recipe I used in the video, I make it a lot.
Excellent best instruction video I have watched in a long time. Sold me the Panasonic bread maker, extremely clear cut instructions and made my mouth water at the end. 10/10 thanks
I bought this machine yesterday and made a X-Large white loaf in it just to try and it was fantastic, a lot better than my old machine. Will be trying the mixed seed one tomorrow when I get some seeds. Thank you for your great video. xx
Best review. I liked how you showed every step I’ve been trying to look for a demo for this model( just bought mine yesterday ) all over TH-cam but was not happy. I’m definitely going to try this recipe.
Thank you for your great review, I was hesitant to buy such an expensive breadmaker but still really wanted it. Your review convinced me I was making th eright choice so went ahead and ordered it and im so pleased that I did. Stock is now very low of the 2540 model but I managed to get one from Lakeland. In the past week ive made at least 5 loaves, all were perfect! Before this I had the Morphy Richards Fast Bake and this Panasonic machine makes a far better loaf with the same recipe. Thank you for convincing me
This could easily be my next bread maker after my Andrew James bread maker gives up. It is a work horse that one I currently have and has been super reliable and it’s super duper quiet. My one was actually as quiet as your Panasonic one.
Thanks for sharing, this was a great video!!!! I watched other videos where the person seems desperate to try to sell you the product, but don't really show the whole process like you did. greatly explained, showed the functions properly, and the pace of the narration was so relaxing to watch. Now I want one of these!! xDD!!
Thank you for your review. It was very helpful and great to see the entire process from box opening to sliced bread on plate video. You have confirmed our decision to buy this model which we will do as soon as I finish these comments. Again, thank you.
I've just gotten a Panasonic sd-yr2550, but I haven't used it. Not clear to use, but now I'm OK. You presented step-by-step till I can use it. Thanks a lot.
Gosh, thanks so much for this video! Especially for the mentioning of the pre-heating... (22:22) I was wondering why it didn't start kneading immediately after I turned it on like my old one did... Now I know why. Honestly, when I only use the kneading option, a normal toast is done in 2:30 h... 1:30 kneading/resting, putting it in a form, 50 mins baking. I'm curious if the panasonic does a similar good job as my oven does. But energywise it will of course be much better. Can't wait to try out my usual rye/spelt sourdough bread - my old machine didn't manage to knead it properly, that's why I bought the panasonic. Your test bread looks extremely good. Thanks again, take care and happy baking!
thankyou for showing how to use the breadmaker. we have just bought one and and the instruction booklet was a bit bamboozleing ! i then found your video here and from then on - plain sailing. p.s i love your wooden bread slicer aid
Thank you so much for such a clear, helpful and detailed review. I have had 2 Panasonic bread makers in the past but these earlier models didn’t have a yeast dispenser. I have just bought the SD-YR 2550 model which I used for the first time a few days ago. I was disappointed that the large loaf I baked had only risen very slightly and was much smaller than expected. However, when I took it out of the machine there was dry yeast everywhere, in the lid, and in the bottom of the casing. It did make quite a noise when the yeast went in from the dispenser but I’m wondering if mine might be faulty? I’ve contacted Panasonic and they’ve advised me to try baking another loaf, but I wonder if you or anyone else reading this might have encountered the same problem? I’m sure this is why my loaf was so small as it obviously didn’t get enough yeast judging by all the deposits distributed all around the unit. I would be grateful for any replies. Thank you!
No not faulty ; it’s very easy common mistakes & beginner make new to the machine to spill dry yeast powder everywhere when measuring & pouring.Especially if you later on then lift the closed lid before the bread has been baked. while the yeast is still in the dispenser & lid
@@mews56 thank you for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately, the bread maker was faulty. I found the yeast had not only fallen into the body of the machine but had also somehow fallen out onto the worktop under the machine, which I found when I moved it. I had been very careful about filling the yeast dispenser and hadn’t spilled any. Anyway, it was returned and I bought another one which is working perfectly!
I bought the Panasonic SD-YR2550 breadmaker for my wife’s birthday. It is replacing a 15 year-old SD-255. Thanks for this video it is very informative. My wife is looking forward to trying the gluten free recipes.
Oh wow I’m so glad I watched your video, I will be buying a Panasonic bread maker and sending for a cover thankyou , please carry on making this type of video😊😊
This is a great video. It was good to watch you share your whole experience of buying the machine, the delivery, unpacking, washing etc. I had the same model delivered this morning purchased from John Lewis with £50 off. I would use healthy oil, eg cold pressed rapeseed oil, instead of butter, my Panasonic SD-255 manual advises 2 Tbs oil is equivalent to 25g butter. Panasonic have increased the sugar and salt amounts in their recipes for the current range of machines. You don’t actually need any sugar in bread recipes, I never use it and I get excellent results. You only need 1 tsp salt for a loaf around that size. I found it so extremely helpful that you showed us how to select the menu/programme, loaf size, crust colour and use all the buttons. That’s the bit I wasn’t sure about and I was concerned about getting it right until I watched your video. The only bad thing about your video is that you told people that after taking the loaf out, if you can’t get the paddle out you should put water in the bread pan and soak it for 30 minutes. The manual says put warm water in the bread pan and wait 5-10 minutes. It specifies that you should not leave it for too long a time. I recommend the Panasonic Bread Maker Recipe Group UK & Ireland Facebook group for anyone on Facebook.
thanks, very useful. My partner got me one for my birthday and i been putting off using until today. Got a GF loaf in there now. One thing i noticed in the instruction booklet, is it doesn't advise which seeds/nuts go straight into the pan and which ones go into the dispenser.
Hi Alex. I have had my Panasonic for a number of years and am quite envious that the newer model you have has the sourdough option. The cakes made in the machine are equally as good. Thanks for demonstrating.
I can’t wait to try the sourdough! Takes a bit of time but I bet it tastes really good! I believe Panasonics are the cream of the crop of breadmakers, people seem to rave about them. Not tried making a cake in it yet but look forward to trying that! ❤️
Found this searching in despair for the reason my SD-YR2540HXC didn't immediately start the breadmaking program. Why the machine requires those 30 mins before starting is beyond me, and I'd love to be able to bypass that 'feature'. Anyway you were the only Ytuber who pointed this out .. so thumbs up to you chook.
@@CulturedThugPoster the rest period brings everything to a warmer temp and it's helps the water and the flour combine to align the starches and gluten.
@@marcbaigrie2295 I find I have better results using the quick program if not similar results to the longer programs. I have had to experiement with the proportions and flour/yeast types. Pro tip use slightly more yeast and a touch of brown sugar, add butter and/or milk (small amount) or Olive oil for best results. When dialing in your recipe keep the lid open and pay attention to the dough mix, by the second kneeding you should have a nice well shaped ball that slowly rotates around the mixing bowl.
Excellent video. Thank you. I couldn't make up my mind, which breadmaker I wanted, but your video has reassured me that this is a great one. 👍 Good detail and covered all the info a real user would need to know. Impressed you read the manual first and so could explain what each thing is and what it does. 😊
Just got one as a Christmas present today 😁 (I tried 3 times to get it and 3 times i was sent the wrong stuff, it was from a catalogue). Thank you so much for the video, I have no patience to go through the manual 😅
I use the Tupperware bread storage container, no need for plastic bag just put your bread in and it keeps it fresh for longer , you can also buy the smaller one for cakes .
Thank you for this review. My son bought this bread maker and I’ve not been able to use it, as I didn’t want to break it! But my son allowed me to use it this morning if I read the instructions properly (he doesn’t trust me much with his gadgets!) but I find reading things difficult, so I came to TH-cam and found your video, I’ve just put all the ingredients and extras in alongside listening to you do yours and I felt confident I had done it all correctly. I’m excited to see if I have done it correctly, waiting 4 hours now! Could you please let me know where your bread slicer was from? It looks brilliant
I am so pleased it helped you get going. It’s lots of fun and the bread is great! The slicer was from Amazon, I can’t remember the particular seller but if you just put it “bread cutting guide” you will find many versions, as well as a similar version to the one I have.
Thankyou so much for your wonderful review! I've never had a breadmaker before and all thr choices are so different. This one made my shortlist and your video helped so much ❤
Have just seen your video and I would just like to say that you were excellent at explaining how it works clear and exactly what was needed to know cheers paddy
oh man that was brilliant. i watched the whole thing. i dont know jack about bread makers and im looking at getting one. i learned a thing or two. cheers. also that guide thing for making slices is awesome. cheers from new zealand
Thanks for sharing your review, I found it very helpful as I’m thinking about buying this model. I think you uploaded the video in 2021 and I wonder, now you’re more familiar with it, if you’re as impressed with it and if you’ve found any negative points? Thanks again, take care. Peter
Thank you for this very detailed video on the bread maker! I just have one question: are the control buttons physical buttons that you have to press, or are they touch-sensitive functions? This is important to me as I am blind and prefer physical buttons for easier use. I heard that the controls beeped with each selection, but I couldn't tell from the video if you were pressing buttons or using a touchscreen.
Really good review. I think Im gonna go get one of these. What would happen if I follow all instructions but without adding the sugar? Would that spoil the mix? Thanks again.
Sugar is food for the yeast, it assists with the fermentation of the bread as well as adding flavour and colour to the crust. If you don’t want to use sugar you can also use honey. French bread recipes usually omit sugar. 😊
Hi mate, nicely put together! I'm receiving my Pan 550 today, I'm baking keto recipe bread using vital wheat gluten etc so will probably use prog 5 (bread mix) as only one rise is needed, does prog 5 utilise the yeast dispenser? It ain't clear in the instructions. As there's no preheat I'll make sure wet ingredients are tepid, thanks!
I swear by this machine! Best bread EVER! Just a question….Does the yeast have to be placed in the top dispenser for all menus? I have been putting the yeast in the main pan. Especially on Menu 1 - is this necessary to do? I have currently noticed (2024 February) that Panasonic have sold out of machines and there is a delay in getting one as they are manufacturing more. I did try a Lakeland one, but it came nowhere as good as the Panasonic, so I sent it back (sorry Lakeland!).
I have had a few breadmakers over the years, Panasonic do them best. The yeast doesn’t have to be put in the dispenser at all, it is just an extra useful feature so you know you have piece of mind, particularly when using the timer, that yeast won’t contact the water too early. You can just put it in first before the flour if you prefer. There are some recipes in the book that recommend NOT using the yeast dispenser, so just consult your manual.
Hi! Thank you so much for the detailed review! I bought one and the first loaves came out fine. The next ones looked as if they were baked only on the one side of the tray, or they were baked in three pieces or came out really chewy... I'm so confused!! Any ideas what could be going wrong??
Hi Alex. Thanks for the detailed video. I own a Panasonic 2511 and the loaves that come out are very tall. Looking at this new model they look wider and more like a traditional loaf. Can you confirm that for me please? Also, is the yeast dispense noisy enough to wake you up and night - it sounded quite loud. Many thanks in advance.
Hi Alan, you’re welcome. The bread tin should be the same size, but maybe it is slightly different but looks the same size and shape as previous models. The yeast dispenser is quite noisy but when the machine is downstairs and you’re upstairs asleep if can barely be heard. I have used the timer twice so far and it never bothered me or woke me up. Hope this helps.
Hi Great thorough video on this model, I am looking at buying this particular one, but I am curious what the difference is between this one and the 2550? As there is a £40-50 difference?
From what I can tell on their website of comparison between the models, the only difference is the colour and one additional programme on the 2540. This model in the video is the TOL model.
Hola te escribo desde España, no sé inglés 🥴 y no entiendo lo que dices, me encantaría que pusieras subtítulos para que tus vídeos llegaran a más gente. Muchas gracias 😘
Thank you so much for your excellent review, presentation ! I feel positive about purchasing this model. Would you please make one loaf with wholewheat flour if possible ! My only concern is I would like to avoid sugar completely , would that be possible to make the bread without any sugar in this or any other Panasonic machine !!! Hope you have answer for me !! Much appreciated !!
Dear Maitrayee, I know it's late, but I'd like to answer your question, sorry, I'm not a natural english speaker though: I have multiple recipes with no sugar at all, because the flour has normally enough to feed this high-breed baker yeast. So far I used my old machine to only knead the dough, for baking I used my oven. So I can't guarantee a success by using the machine for the whole thing. One tip would be to bake your bread with sourdough: No sugar needed, only a tiny bit of baker yeast (3-5g), and the sourdough is eating all the bad stuff while it's resting (12-24 hours, try the dough and decide how sour you like it). I bought this breadmaker because I mostly bake sourdough breads nowadays, it's really not hard (450g whole grain spelt flour, 50g Finest spelt flour, 150g (30% of the flour) sourdough, 10g salt, add water until you have a kneadable, not sticky dough (230-300ml): basic bread done. 180 ° Celsius, 50-55 mins in the oven, et voula). Recipe for a non-sourdough sugarfree bread (I have to use spelt because of allergic issues, but it works just fine with wheat) 150g whole spelt flour 350g Speltflour 630 (the finest one, similar to the finest wheat) 7g Dry Yeast (or only 2g if you let the dough rest over night in the fridge) 10g salt (I dissolve it in some of the fluid, but keep it as long as possible away from the yeast, until I start kneading) 1 Msp ascorbic acid (Vit-C-Powder, helps the rising/overall process, especially with spelt) 400ml Water, lukewarm Optional: 1 tbsp caraway / breadspice 50g Seeds (sunflower, linseed, etc) Baking: In a rectangular cakeform, top covered at 230 ° Celsius for 30 minutes, then remove cover/ lid and bake it another 20 mins at 200 ° Celsius - or use the breadmaker baking program ;) This bread is amazingly fluffy, and a fast one even for manually baking. I hope I could help and not confuse. Take care!
Hi. Thanks for the video. But there is one question for me: Is it possible to use the nut and fruit dispenser with the gluten-free programs? Woult be nice to get an answer. Greetings
thanks for the great review, I am always so indecisive when I want to purchase anything! but your review made my mind up for me, breads on the go as I type :-)
Hi. Can I use Sainsburys Taste the difference Multiseed bread mix in this breadmaker? Also, where did you get that fab little wooden bread cutting gadget?! Thank you for sharing x
Absolutely yes, infact this machine has a bread mix programme and gives you details of how to use bread mixes with this machine. I got the slicing guide from Amazon. 😀
I’ve been on the fence about buying One of these for a while, but after watching this I think I’ll go for it. If you were to do more videos, then maybe other recipes and features would be good to see. Thanks for the in depth review though, it was very helpful. 👌🏻
Thank you for your kind words, I am glad you have found it useful. I have considered doing a sourdough recipe on camera, to show how easy that is. I made it a few months ago and really enjoyed it.

@@Thesweaterfactory What are your thoughts about the bread maker, 2 years on?
Excellent video. Thank you. I couldn't make up my mind, which breadmaker I wanted, but your video has reassured me that this is a great one. 👍 Good detail and covered all the info a real user would need to know. Impressed you read the manual first and so could explain what each thing is and what it does. 😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Mine arrived today, now thanks to you i have an idea of how to make my first loaf 😊❤
Will you let me know , i tried basic dough but it doesnt seem to start, or does it take ages to warm up, no noise or heat after 15 mins. Thank You.
Just got one as a Christmas present today 😁 (I tried 3 times to get it and 3 times i was sent the wrong stuff, it was from a catalogue). Thank you so much for the video, I have no patience to go through the manual 😅
Great demonstration thank you. Where did you get the bread slicer from?
So helpful. Thank you.
I have just purchased the same machine.
Great review. I’ve just bought the model below with the seed dispenser but no yeast dispenser. Can’t wait to try it out.
Excellent video, very well filmed and well explained.
Thanks for taking the time to review!
Just wondering how reliable the bread maker has been over the past few years? Any issues?
Thanks mate, listening to you was amazing, I just ordered mine from Amazon now.
Thanks for the post. Excellent demonstration. Just received my one. Expecting great results.
More videos with different recipes, Please.
I have thought about doing a sourdough recipe on video. Watch this space. ☺️
oh man that was brilliant. i watched the whole thing. i dont know jack about bread makers and im looking at getting one. i learned a thing or two. cheers. also that guide thing for making slices is awesome. cheers from new zealand
Hello, an excellent demonstration! Could you please tell me from where you got your slicing device? Thank you
Thanks for sharing your review, I found it very helpful as I’m thinking about buying this model. I think you uploaded the video in 2021 and I wonder, now you’re more familiar with it, if you’re as impressed with it and if you’ve found any negative points? Thanks again, take care. Peter
Just bought this today. First loaf being made!
Excellent! How was it? ☺️
Good evening: I want to ask what energy rating is this product? Looked everywhere can’t find it, great video I’ve watched it many times now
Thank you for this very detailed video on the bread maker!
Great video thanks, just about to upgrade my machine from an older Panasonic model which has served me well.
This was a great video with detailed explanations. Thank you so much for posting. I’ve now had my first loaf and all thanks to your super video.
Loved it buddy. I just bought one . Can’t wait . Tham
Thanks for the video.Gibi Roslind Australia
Love that you lead us step-by-step. Instruction isnt that great. I was wondering if that loose fit is proper way of mounting it.
That bread looks amazeballs
Very detailed review, you could be a good sponsor really. I just bought it, thanks for the detailed view. =)
Great video clear and no stupid music thank you brilliant
Hi - Great video. I am looking for a bread slicing guide and yours looked good. What make is it and where did you get it from? Thank you.
Great video.! Love your coffeemachine.😊
Thank you that was a very good and clear review. You made it very easy to understand.
Nice video illustration. Thanks. The manual describes removing the Dispenser lid (p26 under Cleaning & Care). How do you do this?
Will you be doing any more bread making etc using this machine because your easy to understand and I havent got a clue.
Hello Alex, love the video thanks. Where did you get the wooden bread slicer guide? It looks ace
I enjoyed your video. Where can I buy the weight ?
Hi! Thank you so much for the detailed review! I bought one and the first loaves came out fine. The next ones looked as if they were baked only on the one side of the tray, or they were baked in three pieces or came out really chewy... I'm so confused!! Any ideas what could be going wrong??
Sounds like a touch too much water in the mix.
The best vidéo ive seen to make bread
Thank you
Fantastic Demo, thank you so much, thinking about buying this!
Wonderful video 😊😅 will save for one of these.
Excellente démonstration. Merci
@@Thesweaterfactory Hi Alex. Very helpful, thank you. Might have to treat myself. 😊
Really helpful! Thank you for the excellent review, set up, and lesson.
Recipe for a non-sourdough sugarfree bread (I have to use spelt because of allergic issues, but it works just fine with wheat)
150g whole spelt flour
350g Speltflour 630 (the finest one, similar to the finest wheat)
7g Dry Yeast (or only 2g if you let the dough rest over night in the fridge)
10g salt (I dissolve it in some of the fluid, but keep it as long as possible away from the yeast, until I start kneading)
1 Msp ascorbic acid (Vit-C-Powder, helps the rising/overall process, especially with spelt)
400ml Water, lukewarm
Optional:
1 tbsp caraway / breadspice
50g Seeds (sunflower, linseed, etc)
Baking: In a rectangular cakeform, top covered at 230 ° Celsius for 30 minutes, then remove cover/ lid and bake it another 20 mins at 200 ° Celsius - or use the breadmaker baking program ;) This bread is amazingly fluffy, and a fast one even for manually baking.
I hope I could help and not confuse. Take care!
You don’t need any sugar at all to make bread in a breadmaker. I never use sugar and I make excellent loaves in my Panasonic bread maker.
@@suzy9474-o2j same here. We only use fast action yeast, flour, vegetable oil and water in our very old Panasonic and it still bakes well.
Hey, great video, do you know if it's possible to mute somehow (turn off) beeping sound ?
Hello! Where’d you get your wooden slicing guide?
Just bought mine. Thank's for demonstration.
Excellent, enjoy! You’re welcome.
Fantastic review. Thank you!
Oh you’ll love it! It’s an excellent breadmaker and makes wonderful bread! Panasonic do it best.
Thank you, this is a brilliant video I got mine today 😊
Thanks for your video, you’ve just made me invest in one...👍👍👍
Wow lovely thanks. How do I use bake only function
I enjoy your video going but one myself but there no link to buy one of those bread machines covers do you have the link where I can buy one please.
Yes please I would like the link aswell
Hello Jodie no link put up but I seen bread machines covers on eBay so they might be some there you like.
@@barrymoon5914 thanks ill have a look
Hi Barry, the link is in the video description, for the breadmaker and the cover. Hope this helps.
Nice video about panasonic bread maker and ...in the same time about salter scale "are a bit dodgy"😂
Great video. Have you tried making pasta with it?
I haven’t as of yet no. I would probably need to get a pasta machine too, for rolling out the dough! Lol.
Tnks for this video
You have given me a reason to own one
Thank you very much for this great review
This was really helpful. Thanks.
