Hello all , if you are on windows you can go into - System -> Sound and then turn on Mono Audio. just remember to turn it back off after the vid :D Thanks for an awesome vid! (don't know how to do it on other platforms sorry)
Hi @PeachyTips if you run the below javascript command in chrome, it should prompt the audio to run through both channels. You can run it by adding it as a bookmark, refreshing the page, then select the bookmark. It's useful to have for some vids/mp3's when browsing the web. javascript:c=new%20AudioContext(),v=document.getElementsByTagName('video'),a=c.createMediaElementSource(v[0]);c.destination.channelCount=1;a.connect(c.destination);void(null);
Seeing this makes me realize that there are a lot of 28mm or 32mm wargames, that really should be 10mm or 15mm instead especially for the number of minis they expect you to use.
I've said it once and I'll say it again - you are forever one of the goats (that's a compliment, remember) for showing me how to speed up army painting by using cohesive colours that can benefit from a single all over wash. You're the sole reason my Tyranids went from grey to painted instead of sitting on sprues for years. Kudos to you, sir.
😍🙌😍 awesome! And do t worry I understand this term now 😂😅, I’m really chuffed to hear about your tyranid army too, great stuff. and just keep painting for fun 👍
Thanks sooo much for actually producing a video that truly shows quick and simple. I cant tell you how many videos with a similar title I have watched, and the person just keeps going and going on. Like now you just put a little brown here as a dot for the eyes it just take a minute to do loads of them now go back with this lighter brown over the eyes to tone it down a bit and finally just a touch of gray on those eyes to really smooth it out. I am like WTF are you doing, lol. I used to watch your videos all the time for warhammer but I gave up on that game. Sick of the rules changing every three months. I am picking up this Hannibal set this week and this is such a help. Thanks again!!!
Awesome!!! I’m pleased that the video is exactly what you’re looking for. And yeah the Warhammer changes get to me too, that’s why I’ve branched out to a plethora of other stuff. Thanks for watching 😍👍 Peachy
Very interesting and I can see exactly what you are trying to achieve, it makes me chuckle when you say these minis are so tiny, I paint and collect 6mm and have similar troops painted in the 3 ranks on a 60mm wide frontage and I only painted the front rank shields (no point wasting time on 24 minis you aint going see. I am tempted by these figures, as I like the format. I would probably use a very similar technique as you but I don't mind spending that bit longer making some of the details pop, definitely worth it considering how little time spent on the priming and base coats. Wash is your best friend at this scale too - even at 6mm a wash makes a huge difference to to finished effect. Many thanks for putting this video together, it's obviously taken time and energy. Your finished models do look more than acceptable for the purposes of table top gaming. Cheers
Yes, that works great and then you don't need to go painting over those clippings again. You can also clip up other pieces of the sprue for better access.
This video would've saved me back in the day. I still recall going gradually insane during Italia '90, painting a seemingly endless horde of 6mm squats.
Great tips. Always good to have videos to say that not everything has to be 'Easy Metal standard to still enjoy painting and enjoy your war-game with friends.
Oh dear, this is the painting guide I didn't know I needed to watch. I started painting 28mm Spartans after watching the historical documentary 300. I'm going to use the techniques you've used here.
Thanks Peachy!!! Loving the variety and 'hobby showcase' of this channel :D I dig paint guides like these, that are "quick and dirty" (for lack of a better term) from painters I know can do the super clean GW style - as it showcases / normalizes more casual painting. It sounds silly, but with so much out there teaching everyone to clean up mistakes, perfectly layer, and edge highlight, the pressure mounts to "paint well" even for models no one else will typically see! Just a great demonstration of how a different approach can be used to great effect, for awesome results.
😍🙏😍 thanks, I super appreciate seeing comments that understand the ethos of my videos, much obliged to you for taking the time to comment and show support, much love peachy
Fantastic video. Cheers Peachy! I'm grabbing the Carthaginians soon and needed to no nonsense guide. Just joined the Patreon too, looking forward to more historical stuff.
Aww cheers Kieran 😍🙏😍 I’ve been super enjoying looking at all manner of different games and periods, got a few Sharpe themed games, and a bolt action vid or two dropping in the coming weeks and months
Awesome way to paint the tiny buggers. Always a pleasure to watch your painting guides. Must be an age thing as i've been thinking of getting into ancients....
Another great video. Nice easy-to-follow steps; plus seeing the “mistakes” to “wow, great looking tiny men on table” is inspiring … and attainable !!! Looking forward to more of your EPIC epic videos!
Those paint jobs look epic! To me, this scale just feels right for historical wargames, especially ones with massed battles. This might have sold me even more than the Black Powder Epic British brigade I saw at my LGS. Another quote from Hannibal: "Discourtesy is unspeakably ugly to me."
Love the variety of your channel Peachy, I thought I only wanted to see old world content but turns out I do enjoy all the random things you do vids about, keep up the great work 👍🏻
Warlord games also does SPQR a skirmish game. I got excited and now have a Roman, Gaul and German warband. Love painting them, have not played yet but I am excited. It's so different from painting Warhammer stuff.
Great video Mr P! I've got some warmaster skeletons/zombies and a white undercoat and speedpaints worked great on those. Got some other minis to do and the time saving tips here will be very useful. Thanks!
Lots of useful little tips and thought processes here. Especially the opportunities to be messy because you're painting a neighbouring part later. It's quite liberating on batch painting to allow yourself some shortcuts. These minis look great and the paintjobs are super effective for the table. Also Army Painter wash tones are absolutely brilliant.
Cheers bud, always appreciate you commenting 😍👍 I was having a crisis when I did this video thinking folks will think these minis look trash as they’re tiny and it’s a 4k camera, I was chuffed with the results, and I’m really pleased to see others are too…..phew 😅
Thanks Peachy for getting me excited about a new project I didn’t think I needed 😠 seriously though as much as I love the design of Legions Imperialis, I wish they were as simple and easy to make as these dudes!
Doh! This video came out just as I'd finished painting the last mini in my Battle of Five Armies box set (Middle-earth Warmaster). I had to learn all these lessons the hard way but at least I can confirm this is all excellent advice! The Epic stuff from Warlord is so tempting. I've been side-eyeing the Napoleonic stuff for a while.
Just got my sprues today! Peachy you are the best. I always reference your channel! I'm just trying to get some models to the table to play not to win events! Keep it up you are the best!
😍😍😍 thanks Sean! Glad you enjoy the videos, and it’s super important remembering the purpose of the paint jobs I find, otherwise you get stuck in the details and then stall.
3ft rule is your friend with these smaller scales. Btw you can clip off the shoulder connectors on the sprue which solves touching up at the end. I’m a big fan of undercoating my minis with the main base colours. Saves so much time
Great video and some very good tips for speeding up this scale. My Hannibal Carthage set arrived at the weekend and a small box of Romans and this will help...I may need a lot more Romans now lol

Peachy, I've never had any interest in Epic-scale stuff but stuck around through the whole vid since it's you; now I'm also curious about dabbling in this too!! xD
Honestly I wasn’t fussed about small scale stuff either, but a fair few folks have asked for me to cover this, so it made sense. And now I want a whole army 😂🤣

Great video, Peachy! I have come over from listening to JUGGZ the podcast. Can you tell Rob to upload the podcast to Spotify? Thank you for the great content!
I have seen a number of vids where they left the figures on the sprue for the obvious gain in painting them. However, I saw a couple of guys clip off the side sprue and trim prior to painting so that there was no tidy up required once the paint job was complete. The figures were fairly well secured by the sprue attachments at the base. One lad was doing the British infantry in the Warlord Epic Napoleonics.
Great vid, tempted to get some of these myself... For some of that on-the-sprue painting, reckon you could have clipped away and tided up where it joined at the sides (like the shoulder connection) and just left the sprue joins along the bottom. Just the bottom joins are probs strong enough to hold them in place
I knew when I saw those elephants in the thumbnail this was the video for me. Got a few stories this month and was like how am i meant to approach minis this small
Great stuff Peachy 👍 I wondered what Sharpe was staring at during this video, eventually my aged and polluted mind realised it was a peach, phew 😅 28mm are getting too small for me nowadays but some really good tips there. Thank you )O(
I’m exactly the same, it’s almost habit to look at them close, but a lot of the time you can see how when some details are skipped, it rarely effects the overall presentation on the board
Peachy I got 2 words for ya, "mortal Gods". Small army game set in mythical Greece. Cheap to get full game and the rules!! The rules are fantastic. Ash has a battle report. Seriously it's my next game after hive secundus.
It's wild how much easier stuff at 10, 8 and 6mm is than larger scale, because even just putting a little stripe on a banner or a star on a shield makes you seem like a painting wizard and no-one cares that the guys at the back look like mutants by comparison. But seriously though Peachy, I've been trying to talk myself out of getting that Hannibal box until I get my other Epic scale stuff done - quit talking me back into it!
Do you remember what color red that was you used to spray the Hastati? Most of what I found locally looks much brighter than that and I like the look of that color.
I was very surprised that there was no recommendation for any of Sharp's episodes at the end of the video. I guess viewers should have watched the whole series by now.

Peachy I got 2 words for ya, "mortal Gods". Small army game set in mythical Greece. Cheap to get full game and the rules!! The rules are fantastic. Ash has a battle report. Seriously it's my next game after hive secundus.
Oooh thanks for the recommendation Gary 👍
It's wild how much easier stuff at 10, 8 and 6mm is than larger scale, because even just putting a little stripe on a banner or a star on a shield makes you seem like a painting wizard and no-one cares that the guys at the back look like mutants by comparison.
But seriously though Peachy, I've been trying to talk myself out of getting that Hannibal box until I get my other Epic scale stuff done - quit talking me back into it!
Sorry, I just like what I like, but now I also want the Waterloo set hahaha!
Or you could revisit the old Warhammer Ancients rules...I still use them for my Celts and Romans, and Viking period massed battles.
Do you remember what color red that was you used to spray the Hastati? Most of what I found locally looks much brighter than that and I like the look of that color.
That is the colourforge Reliquary Red its one of those new signature series they did, I think
@@PeachyTips awesome thank you!
I would say approaching a unit as a single large model is the way to go
Does this mean in the future you're going to paint Warmaster minis too? I really hope so... Great work as always mr. Peach..👍
Well there’s a ton of beautiful 3D prints and stls out there, so yeah maybe
I was very surprised that there was no recommendation for any of Sharp's episodes at the end of the video.
I guess viewers should have watched the whole series by now.
Like a fool i was negligent in sorting that 🤦♂️😂
I'm slightly disappointed this wasn't a tutorial for shake n' bake painting. But only slightly.
Hahaha! Ahh yes the Rob ‘shake and bake’ 😂😂😂
