The Warcry community is incredible and we are constantly growing! There is so much space to explore from incredible narrative stories to be told all the way over to a really welcoming and robust competitive scene! Thanks for the kind words about a game so many love ❤
I have the older sets! The Red Harvest Box and the Catacombs box. But I really love the look of some of the new warbands like the Kruleboyz Monsta-Hunters and the Questor Soulsworn. Can I mix and match the old stuff without too much trouble?
It's definitley the best game of theirs in the modern era, I feel. Just really nicely designed, has managed to avoid the unfortunate bloat that often claims games that have been around for a while, and really nice mini design.
Man I love Warcry! Been trying to get my killteam buddies into it, just told them "It's like killteam but fun!" and you get to list build other then what weapons your gunners are goin to have
I watch YOU GOATS do kill team. Did your warcry vid not get as much love? My gaming group is fixed on kill team at the minute...warcry was too fluffy for some of the crunchier ones
How wonderful to see that you have a six year old son! When all is said and done, the greatest game is LIFE. Sharing it with your kids can't be beat. My son is 28, married and still paints and games. It's a lifelong bond between us ❤
Those Skirmish boards of yours are so fantastic. I can't remember where I first saw them, I think it was White Dwarf. They inspired me to make 3 cork board terrain boards for warcry. This included a combat arena, a swamp and and a crypt. Thank you as always for your inspiration.
A couple of guys in my KT oriented gaming group have been getting into Warcry recently. One of the most striking things is hearing laughter coming from the Warcry tables. I look over to the Killteam players and its all frowns and deep concentration. Not knocking that kind of play or the folks who like it, but I want to be on the fun tables! This video is the last nudge I needed!
Back in 1st edition, I used my AoS models, I bought years before for D&D. My favourite was a warband of Longbeards, and because of the slower movement of the dwarves, I gave the heroes tankards and used the horns from the warriors helmets as drinking horns on the rest of their belts 🙂 Not slow, just drunk!
Oh no, here we go again. Edit: honestly I love warcry and I’m glad you made this video. I hope that whatever they do with next edition they keep it simple, fast and fun.
The initiative roll balancing with special abilities is the absolute best I have seen in a game. Such a elegant solution to determine first player compared to clumsy roll off for highest that most other games use.
This is the game that motivated me to get into miniature games. The beginner set box was fully loaded and very exciting to pick up. I must have played 40 games, I have around twenty warbands, I have played around twelve miniatures games since then and I regularly come back to Warcry because it's easy to memorize, with quite a bit of options for composing a warband and above all lots of scenarios, setting arrangements, adventures. It's very cool, my favorite GW game (I like Killteam but it's definitely clunkier in terms of wording)
Warcry introduced me to skirmish games, I fell in love with it and have since bought every big story box, a few of the boxed warbands and some of the useful printed material. I have more Warcry than any other game system. Warcry also showed me how much more fun skirmish games were over the bigger table games.
I really liked the Catacombs box for having the double sided board with two different sets of terrain for the different environments. It's great when you buy a starter to have that variety right out of the box. I'm really looking forward to a new edition launch with [hopefully] another big box for which to get excited.
For what it's worth, back when GW had the Fanatic Design Studio twenty years ago, you could download all the rules for "Blood Bowl" and "Battlefleet Gothic"...which was really cool.
Peachy , you got me onto warcry and yeah it's really good . Quick to set up and play , a good amount of tactical depth and setting up plays and getting a game in around 30mins is fantastic !
Sundered Fate box is a pretty great pickup for anyone looking over the fence from the 40k side of things. Especially Killteam players. For ~130 US You get a pretty generous helping of terrain that works great as a Nurgly swamp environment and the Askurgan Trueblades models were what a lot of Eldar players were using for Mandrakes before the newest killteam release. I think you need 2-3 extra models to run them as proxies for the Mandrake KT, but you can find those loose (in metal, resin, or the new plastic) for pretty cheap. And then you've just got a bunch of lizardmen to muck around with. They aren't all that stacked, but if you're in the market for the style of terrain included a lot of the Warcry boxes work out to ~$50 two factions and their campaign book.
Creating your own highly professional looking character cards is so awesome - especially the Star Wars cards. The Seraphim Spaceship looks exactly like a cool Lustria temple - no problem there, as far as I can see.
Warcry is excellent. I was genuinely surprised by not only how innovative it is but also how accessible it is, especially coming from GW. Can't recommend it enough! Thanks for sharing!
Love the video. This has probably been talked about but if you use a 'wait', that is an action. if you move and then wait, that effectively ends the turn, the only way to save an action is to use wait as your 1st action. Then you can activate again later with one action or react.

I loved 1st edition Warcry. Hav'nt played 2nd yet but I still have my Ogre Icepelt hunter and his pack of frost sabres somewhere so I'll need to try it sometime.
The warbands are still available! They've been popping back in and out of stock since the announcement of discontinuing all those Stormcast... Corvus Cabal and Unmade currently in stock on GW webstore, the rest 'temporarily out of stock'. So you can still pick up the super cool warbands. 😁
@@PeachyTips Yeah it looks like their deaths were greatly exhaggerated, presumably it was primarily about getting them out of the S2D roster rather than Warcry itself but who knows.
@@PeachyTips As far as I am aware they are not going to be around in AoS in a year, but still valid in Warcy. They latest metawatch and updates included them so it shows they are still getting some love, but whether they will keep being made is uncertain, but they have been coming back in to stock on the site. Was very happy to grab Corvus Cabal after trying to get it for 2 years after the warehouse sort GW did. Also if they did stop support for them I mean... if you're playing casual I am sure most people would be 100% cool with them being used still. Horns of Hashut however maaaay be because they are going in to the rumoured Chaos Dwarf army that is coming up. New maps and lore really make it seem like they are coming soon.
One of my favorite games from GW. These days I love most of the skirmish stuff like this, Kill Team, and especially Necromunda. Very cool. Plus Warcry is special to me as I am part of the ATC crew in America and we got the reveal of the game and it always has a special place in my heart.
Tbh this video was putting Warcry in a interesting light for me. Not that I had a bad opinion about it. It was simply totally out of my focus. I know it existed, but I never got in touch with it.
WarCry is my second favorite GW game, after Middle Earth SBG. I hope it survives it's upcoming scheduled edition change next year without many changes, or they just drop it and replace it with something completely new so I can continue playing it as it exists now.
I absolutely love Warcry and love how well you can blast through a couple (or three) games in an evening - my only problem is that it shouldn't support so much of the AoS range as it leads to bad play experiences. A 'bespoke' warband from a box can easily get absolutely stomped by a 'compendium' warband composed of multiple units and heroes across different factions - this is fine for competitive tournament play, but really turns casual players off.
Love this game :) The rules are simple to understand but theres so many tactical decision making with the dice. I came in at Catacombs, really liked how it gave you the undergrown and above ground ruins terrain. I've collected all the new Ghur boxes, the models are amazing and I wanted all the forest terrain
Algorithm posting. Loving hearing you on the Juggz podcast. Very very keen to hear you talk about Mordheim! I’ve always found warcry interesting, almost too many things to choose between Gonna make a dwarf mordheim band with the MtO and imperial dwarfs ;)
you can do reasonably good cards using your home printer. Commercially printed cards are about 300gsm, out of specially laminated card stock, getting the laminated card stock can be tricky / expensive but 300gsm printer paper is a fairly close match particularly if the cards are just being used as a reference. The other component is a wax coating, you can get a fairly good facsimile using a mineral oil based paste-wax and buffing it. (There are two types of paste wax, the other is mineral spirits based and will make the ink on your card run). You can make your own paste-wax by placing 50/50 bees wax and mineral oil in a sacrificial saucepan, heating it until the wax melts, pouring the mixture into a container and waiting for it to cool. Adding harder waxes like microcrystaline wax to the mix will result in shinier paste.
One of my favorite systems ive ever touched. I truly wish if they could manage to create a more affordable starter that was like crypt of blood but with cardboard terrain it would be one of the easiest sells to a new wargamer for sure.
My area has a really active Warcry community full of amazing people. I think I've already played in 9 events this year (including tournaments, campaigns, and leagues). I really cant recommend Warcry enough, its by far my favorite tabletop game!
Love the video! As of right now those war bands are currently available. The announcement was aimed at AOS saying those would be removed. It’s unclear if they are leaving war cry. I think they majorly dropped the ball on clarifying the future of warcry.
Warcry is a fantastic game. Fun fact: a few years ago I saw someone say that GW were ripping off Frostgrave with Warcry. I pointed out that Frostgrave was heavily influenced by Mordheim, so they called me a shill. Good times.
I'll never understand one-upmanship or "taking sides" when it comes to games and entertainment. A fun game is a fun game is a fun game. Who cares how the rules ultimately came about so long as they work? There is no such thing as art that is truly original, and, most important, the game design space is a relatively small, insular community, and most of these game designers enjoy each others' games and swap notes anyhow. It's how the hobby continues to grow and evolve.
So even if they don’t produce any more new sets or warbands for Warcry, the earlier editions/boxes/warbands are still ‘alive’ and can still be played. Your ideas of creating your own warbands and so on is a great idea and takes the bite out of the possibility of less love from the source. I love the idea of making Kill Team using the Warcry card generator and might use that to teach 40K Warcry to my son who is a Science Fiction fan!
Love this video. Again your passion for the game clearly comes across. Your Sister of Sigmar look amazing. Please do a video about how you kitbashed them. I was given the Redharvest boxset some time ago but it's in my pile of future projects.
I got the mawtribe warband 50% because your praise for warcry and 50% because they look really cool. Loved the video and warcry is super fun! Looking at necromunda now for similar reasons 😂
Well good news m8 - those older warbands are still available they're just currently online only now, i think the "removal" factor was just them taking them out of the main game AOS. BUT just to be safe if they do have any older warbands people want then i suggest you grab them incase they do vanish for whatever reason. Personally i love the spaceship concept i think its awesome and hilarious, the joke they made on warhammer weekly was wouldn't it be amazing if they came out with a new BFG game except in age of sigmar instead - We could call it Battletoad gothic. :D
Ben is a legend. If the store was empty and he could see Bugmans was getting slammed he would jump in and help out on the bar conti / pot wash / clear tables / whatever he could do to help. Thats the great thing about a dwarven bar - they are always *short* staffed.
It really is a great skirmish game. It was a lot of fun when they published rules where your warband could fight a monster controlled by another player! I was a little annoyed as well when all the cards were made useless but the positive to that is that they were able to rebalance the teams. For a while there the warbands made especially for WarCry were weaker generally than the compendium based warbands. My poor Khainite Shadowstalkers got wiped too many times by compendium teams before I just made one out of random Stormcast I had.
I feel you on the cards. BUT, I’m still using them. I put in the effort to put stickers on them when warcry 1.5 came out to put all the (mostly points) changes on the same cards. Since Warcry 2.0 I’ve cut out the new ‘cards’ and put them on top of the original cards in their sleeves (and used free MagicTG cards from my LGC for the new ones that didn’t have a previous card. Honestly, it might not be ‘mint’ and a good looking collection anymore, but they sure feel ‘battle worn’ whenever I use them 😂. Warcry is my favorite GW game. For narrative. For competitive play I prefer Underworlds. Luckily, the Underworlds models work great to amazing in Warcry. These are the two games I’m sticking to ever since 2018 and I don’t feel like missing out on anything (yeahyeah, for painting fun I do buy a larger model from time to time).
Peachy you are awesome!! I Love Warcry, was hesitant to go 2.0 but I think it’s a better rule set. I was also disappointed about the cards, I had so many 1.0 cards!! I also like the red color better, but I suppose I’ll get used to the gold?! So glad you have your own Channel now. Duncan too!!
Warcry is an absolutely fantastic game. Easy to learn and easy to teach. It's the game I would use to introduce anyone into tabletop wargaming. Indeed it's the game I play with my daughters (9+14), who picked up the rules quickly and love playing the game. The models are brilliant, and with the small amount of models needed for each warband, it allows people to collect different ones without breaking the bank. I really hope GW keeps supporting the game. It really should be getting promoted in their stores, encouraging new players into taking part in the hobby. I really wish they had used the Warcry rules for Kill Team, as it would have made that game far more accessible. Anyway fantastic video Mr Peach. Keep up the great work, and keep promoting these lesser known games.
Absolutely love Warcry, it is such a good game, so easy to learn that you can play it with your kids, doesnt take up much room and inspires you to make your own story with your custom warband. It still has enough complexity , despite the simplicity, to have fun tactics and the Warcry community is really, really great, so friendly and honestly, in my experience, the most welcoming and chill of the warhammer communities I have seen so far. Wholeheartedly reccomend joining the Warcry discord for anyone that plays as you will find any help you need there from great people.
The fact that there were only tiny rules changes between Warcry 1 and Warcry 2 demonstrates the elegance of design. @wargamesontoast did a recent video explaining the downsides of the quick attack resolution…but we don’t care 😂 Do you think the game lost a little of what made it unique when there were/are fewer bespoke teams?
IMO Heck Yeah! When a game allows you to use almost any AOS units, I felt it is great! the rules are free, its very easy to understand the rules, and there are so many ways to play it. I can't stop listbuilding and trying new stuff, its that addicting.
I've enjoyed most of the games of Warcry that i've played. One unfortunate game that I played as SCE vs Ogors, there were 3 objectives on the battlefield, one of them was a treasure that I had to find to win. Since SCE move so slow, it took me two turns to investigate one objective, it wasn't the treasure, but I realized that the other objectives were too far away for my models to get to after two more turns. So we ended the game after turn two.
Firstly love Warcry, really want to play more!! My theory on the disappearing war bands is so they don’t need to make rules for them for Sigmar 4. They seem to be all the war bands that aren’t part of a AoS faction. It’s not a perfect theory, but looking quickly at it, that’s how it seems.
That’s a great observation, I forgot to put in the vid that my entire slaves to darkness army is made up of Warcry warbands lol, yet another army I can’t use……officially 🤣👍
I agree with you, Warcry is the best GW game. Me and my 7 year old son can play it...having only the basic abilities. And we demo it on local conventions and casual players and kids can get the rules in 1 or 2 turns and they are hooked.
Sorry I don’t mean to spam comments but I love warcry so much 😂 Speaking to your story about “meta,” the last game I played was my Bear-eater Stormcast (“HAMILCAR!”) versus the Slintered Fang and my beefy stormgitz just got swarmed lol😅
You're not odd in your slower pace of picking up rules. I stay away from a lot of the more involved boardgames out there, because by the time I've figured out thw rules, I've lost 😅
Great video about a game I really like. Unfortunately in my area, if I go into a LGS and ask about Warcry, "Oh, nobody plays that around here". :( So I became a collector and painter, and 2 weeks after I completed painting all the version one war bands, GW decided to kill most of them. :( :(. However, since the minis are so wonderful, I've found other indie games they fit into perfectly! See: Frostgrave, Deth Wizards, OPR. Working my way through the version 2 war bands now!!
Frostgrave, Silver Bayonet and now Warcry?! Peachy this contagious passion of yours is starting to get expensive! 😂 In all seriousness though I love the talking head videos! 👍🍑
Bought this game when it.came out and played it once and won on deployment. Never bothered after that while I still own many crews that I ve played in aos throughout the years
When are you gonna make some battle reports with the juggs crew? You talk so passionate about these game systems(frostgrave, warcry and silver bayonet) I think people would really enjoy seeing you play it. Edit: really enjoyed the one you did on 'game night'
Well I’m looking to do another battle report with Games Night, which will be super fun, I’m currently filming some solo play narrative style batreps for my channel. In regards to stuff with JUGGZ myself, Sugs and Rob have definitely talked about that, not sure when that’ll happen
Warcry is awesome! The first warbands, chaos warbands, are the best. They are still best for that game. The new warbands from last boxes are mmh ok. The rules are so easy, but so great. It's crazy how simple the cards are and gameplay is, but complex in strategy. What a big hit from games workshop.
Nice work I like the star wars idea. Never played aos style games. Old hammer age do you reckon you could make up some 40k cards? As a long time 40k player I just can't be bothered to learn/rebuy codex for 10th ed so we play with a modified 8th.
Warcry is great, because it doesn't confuse complexity and depth. Games really easy to pick up, but has nice and deep tactics. I wish other Games Workshop games took this lesson to heart (looking at you Kill Team), shoving in a bunch of unique rules and poorly worded/confusing rules doesn't immediately mean your games going to be better for it.
Peachy casually showing he's a fan of Republic Commando by showing off Sev and Boss 😂 As someone who plays Kill Team, I have to agree that rules that you don't have to struggle to remember sounds amazing!! In terms of story, I feel that fantasy (as a genre) is easier to make stories for scenarios like warcry as you said used to be about warbands trying to gain the attention of Archaon or the chaos gods has so much potential for stories. Kill Team is a bit harder in my opinion to make a story to not sure if that's due to the existing lore or if I'm just used to fantasy stuff more. Great video Peachy also your not the only one who hasn't done anything with you Shadowstalkers 😂
Gotta agree about the space ship, an Ancient Temple would have been better or more fitting I've got all the boxes and released Warbands apart from the Wildercorps and Gorger's. Still yet to play a game as only gotten around to building a couple of Warbands plus up until recently been doing shiftwork
Do you hate Expedtion to the Barrier Peaks too? ;) The one thing I think Mordheim does better is the in between games, not worrying about the same amount of points hitting the table it can go a bit wilder but the actual rules on the table Warcry is such great fun. Writing rules that are simple to learn but then offers the depth in the choices you make is hard, but makes for such a great game. You can see it in the board game world too with Castles of Burgundy, quick to learn but still offering up so much depth in the game play.
Question. I only know old hammer lore from my many hours of playing the total war wharhammer trilogy and watching the odd lore video, and the tiniest bits of AOS lore from battle reports. Won't the seraphon's spaceships be essentially giant temples, as I'm pretty sure they are the same ones that the few who escaped having morslieb dropped onto lustria used to do so? Great video again and look forward to finishing the rest of it in the morning... or in the afternoon now I guess.
I do agree on that for sure, as the old world ‘temples’ were ships I suppose, but felt more like stargate Go’Uld pyramid ships. The sketches and aesthetic of the Warcry one looks more like a spaceship rather than a temple, but like I said in the vid it’s just a personal preference as opposed to it being wrong etc.
@@PeachyTips Ok makes sense. Was more just asking because I wasn't sure if I had been misinformed on what happen'd to the lizard men in the end times. Not trying to get you to change your mind just more of a clarification for myself. Anyway got some sleep now I can finish the rest of the video off!
Man I remember Path to Glory, I still have the paper booklet that I got with White Dwarf way back when. I should cut the pages out and laminate them and get a game togther with some friends when the Old World minis get released.
The Warcry community is incredible and we are constantly growing! There is so much space to explore from incredible narrative stories to be told all the way over to a really welcoming and robust competitive scene!

Man, I miss Path to Glory, that game mode was absolutely fantastic. Big fan of WarCry too.
Thanks for explaining what Warcry is, I think I’m too invested in Old world at this point to try it but you never know
WarCry is my second favorite GW game, after Middle Earth SBG.
Have you checked out any of the warcry books. The blood of the everchosen book was really fun and gives a nice taste of all the warbands.
Algorithm posting. Loving hearing you on the Juggz podcast. Very very keen to hear you talk about Mordheim! I’ve always found warcry interesting, almost too many things to choose between
Gonna make a dwarf mordheim band with the MtO and imperial dwarfs ;)
you can do reasonably good cards using your home printer.
Good times.
Ya just can’t win with some folks lol, but yeah you are 100% correct
Yeah Kill Teams using Warcry is a great idea, I’ve found KT just a bit convoluted from a rules pov
Sold. I’m grabbing me some rules and gonna try to make some warbands with the Stormbringer magazine miniatures
I would have made a separate how to play video. It'd be a really nice resource to use and show my brothers when I get to see them(3-4 times a year)
I was going to do a bigger version at a later date, maybe a fun play through, thought I’d throw in a simple introduction on this vid
So, defo, trying the starwars cards next epic even create ones missing with card creator. You have started something now wookie!😊
Love this video. Again your passion for the game clearly comes across.
Your Sister of Sigmar look amazing. Please do a video about how you kitbashed them.
I was given the Redharvest boxset some time ago but it's in my pile of future projects.
oh that is cool with the card creator.. now i will field my old dispossessed dwarfs, like quarrels and thunderers again :D
Hell yeah!!!! That’s the best thing about it, and an excellent choice of minis 😍👌
Ha! Brilliant! And thank you for the war and info
6:54 Oh man look at that dwarf with hammer and swordbreaker. That looks awesome.
Absolutely love Warcry, great games, miniatures and lore.
I couldn’t agree more 👍
Absolutely love Warcry, it is such a good game, so easy to learn that you can play it with your kids, doesnt take up much room and inspires you to make your own story with your custom warband.
👆THIS👆
Warcry is what got me into Warhammer at all.
The fact that there were only tiny rules changes between Warcry 1 and Warcry 2 demonstrates the elegance of design. @wargamesontoast did a recent video explaining the downsides of the quick attack resolution…but we don’t care 😂
Do you think the game lost a little of what made it unique when there were/are fewer bespoke teams?
I do like the purposefully designed warbands that come in their own boxes etc, as they do feel bespoke and considered.
Just did a 4 player battle royale last night. So fun.
Ooooh nice 😍👍
IMO Heck Yeah!
When a game allows you to use almost any AOS units, I felt it is great!
the rules are free, its very easy to understand the rules, and there are so many ways to play it.
I can't stop listbuilding and trying new stuff, its that addicting.
There is only one thing better than Warcry.... Peachy talking about Warcry!
🤣👍
Agree with sci-fi one place fantasy another. I also tend to adapt skirmish rules so double 👍🏼. As usual great video.
You should try Kings of War Peachy!!
Warcry is really a fun and innovative ruleset.
Amazing. I was able to get ahold of the WarCry Red Harvest box for
That is a rare find, still a very usable set tbh, even if the cards are ‘outdated’ a bit. Nice one
I agree with you, Warcry is the best GW game. Me and my 7 year old son can play it...having only the basic abilities. And we demo it on local conventions and casual players and kids can get the rules in 1 or 2 turns and they are hooked.
Sorry I don’t mean to spam comments but I love warcry so much 😂
Speaking to your story about “meta,” the last game I played was my Bear-eater Stormcast (“HAMILCAR!”) versus the Slintered Fang and my beefy stormgitz just got swarmed lol😅
For what it is, I think warcry might be one of the best! I liked this video a lot
You're not odd in your slower pace of picking up rules. I stay away from a lot of the more involved boardgames out there, because by the time I've figured out thw rules, I've lost 😅
Phew 😅
Great video about a game I really like. Unfortunately in my area, if I go into a LGS and ask about Warcry, "Oh, nobody plays that around here". :( So I became a collector and painter, and 2 weeks after I completed painting all the version one war bands, GW decided to kill most of them. :( :(. However, since the minis are so wonderful, I've found other indie games they fit into perfectly! See: Frostgrave, Deth Wizards, OPR. Working my way through the version 2 war bands now!!
Love this breakdown on a game I’d love to get into 👍💯 you really are a chosen man 👍💯😂
Ngl i kinda prefered the place holder thumbnail. Mega amazing video.
Frostgrave, Silver Bayonet and now Warcry?! Peachy this contagious passion of yours is starting to get expensive! 😂
In all seriousness though I love the talking head videos! 👍🍑
Ha! I’m Sorry, and thank you for the kind words 😘👍
Get those Shadowstalkers done, I loved painting mine. Sad I cant play them in AoS 4 😢
It is a bloody damn shame, but yes I’ll get them painted lol
@@PeachyTips false alarm, shadow Stalkers are in AoS 4 (crying happy tears)
Peachy casually showing he's a fan of Republic Commando by showing off Sev and Boss 😂
As someone who plays Kill Team, I have to agree that rules that you don't have to struggle to remember sounds amazing!!
Gotta agree about the space ship, an Ancient Temple would have been better or more fitting
I've got all the boxes and released Warbands apart from the Wildercorps and Gorger's. Still yet to play a game as only gotten around to building a couple of Warbands plus up until recently been doing shiftwork
I love Warcry! It’s so fun and varied. Thanks for the video 😊
Thank you for watching it…..ooh and commenting 😍🙌
Untamed Beasts For the Win!
Love this game, easily GW's best game. GIve it a go if you haven't, you'll love it.
Do you hate Expedtion to the Barrier Peaks too? ;)
The one thing I think Mordheim does better is the in between games, not worrying about the same amount of points hitting the table it can go a bit wilder but the actual rules on the table Warcry is such great fun.
The collecting is awesome but then I would say that being a collector of many hobbies and interests 😂
Man I remember Path to Glory, I still have the paper booklet that I got with White Dwarf way back when. I should cut the pages out and laminate them and get a game togther with some friends when the Old World minis get released.
