What I found most interesting is how you store your fresh vegetables in the refrigerator. I think I need to look into this a bit more to keep our food more fresh. Thanks Jane for sharing.
When I needed a new fridge I got one that has big drawers inside specifically for vegetables. They are much bigger than the ones fridges usually have and it has really extended the time I can store vegetables before they go bad. The fridge was a quite expensive brand but I got it secondhand so only paid €350 for it which is €1000 cheaper than new. The brand is Liebherr if you were wondering.
@@BooBooKitty001 I've never heard of storing these items in paper bags ~ I always stored them in my frig using the plastic bags they came in. I will try this method as I always buy reduced items that never last more than 1 or 2 weeks max.
I love to watch you. We have a years supply of food, water, hygiene supplies, cleaning supplies, office supplies, clothing, toys and school supplies, first aid supplies. Then we have medicines as far ahead as possible, fuel, as much and possible and a 1 acre garden. We have all the necessary items for the garden stocked up. We have 5 freezers to hold the fish we catch, deer and elk, moose and beef, pork and chicken we buy. We have chickens for eggs. We paid off all our debt with the exception of the house and always have a savings. We still feel like we have holes to fill. Never resting easy. Thank you for the ideas you share. Love from America.
What fabulous organisation and very impressive and savvy shopping. Was great to see your cupboards and the nods to the English items that you stock up on.
I have two chest freezers and am canning and trying to get down to just one. What happened was after my old large chest freezer went out we bought a smaller one to replace it. Then I was given another large one- used but in great condition. Living in a hurricane area I don’t want to have them both running in case we have to go on generator. What I will do soon is buy multiple turkeys when they are really low priced around thanksgiving and pressure can them and we will eat on them all year. Your organization is wonderful and amazing. I just finished a quilt for the local council on aging after taking 10 quilts to the North Carolina hurricane victims. Most of the quilts I donated were made by other people for donating but the recipient was changed to NC after the bad storm. I also made your egg fried rice night before last. It was delicious. I used leftover veges and meat and turned the blah into a delicious meal. Thank you for another great, informative video!
I do the same with the Turkey, best way to stock up on that sort of thing. I also had to do the same thing with my older chest freezer. I had another upright which is fine for just me now. But I set to canning and stocked my pantry. Happy canning it's a lot of work but less expensive and satisfying knowing you've got what you need on hand.😊
Woman after my own heart!!! I love the organization! I have had friends ask me to organize their pantry. It amazes me when they are shocked as to what is in the pantry they didn't know they had or how much of something they have. In my deep freezer, I have a shelf for hamburger.chicken,pork.beef, and fish. In my frig freezer I have frozen veggies, frozen potatoes and breads. Oh and butter. I keep sugar and flour in 5 gallon buckets. Ideally hate to grocery shop so I try to do a big shop every few months. All I have to get biweekly is milk and fresh fruits and veggies. Thank you for sharing.
Wow….that Pantry was spotless !😊. I get rings on my shelves from the bottom of bottles - ugh. I don’t ‘stock-up’ as such, but my son occcasionally goes to Costco for his family & he sometimes takes me along, although Unfortunately, most things are in bulk, so I rarely buy from there. I cook whatever is in Season at the supermkt & so is the cheapest, & mostly from Aldi. I can get good bargains of meat & fish with a third off if I go early enough. Sometimes, I will put a pack of Mince straight into the freezer, sometimes I will cook it with either tinned tomatoes/Herbs or Hendersons Relish/Gravy Grans/Herbs, split it into 4 & freeze each quarter in separate bags & the same goes for chicken. Aldi has just had an offer on all week of ‘meat cut from chicken Drumsticks’, 600 grm for £1,99, so I bought 3 pks & split them. If you keep your eyes open, you can get many a bargain. I have to be more frugal this Winter, as I have just lost my Winter Fuel Allowance, thanks to our new Government.☹️
I live in NM USA, right on the Colorado border. We do have a basement. I grow a garden and can….more than shop. So this time of year, he pantry is full, and by summer it is depleted. We butcher a beef and a hog once a year and split with family members. I render all the fats. We also have chickens and we hunt for deer/elk. I LOVE your videos.
This is a copy paste for our family. This time of year everything is bountiful and full. By summer next year. Not as much. Until the garden starts producing. I also live in USA. Midwest. I purchase all my dairy items at store. Milk. Cheese. Butter. Etc.
@@elle7058 This year, I retired early, and our lives were all about that shift, so my larders look like Harry Potter has left the room, currently 😂 We are sooo in need next season to fill up our spaces again. 🇬🇧
I was honestly surprised that they don't seem to grow their own food. I'm a really lazy gardener. I loathe weeding but since I discovered the magic of mulch my kitchen garden has increased substantially. Also I grow mostly perennials - again lazy gardener here. My favourites are berries of all kinds so I'm all set for jams and then Jerusalem artichokes. I planted some I bought at the supermarket and have been selectively growing the ones with the sweetest flavour and fewest knots to the point I now have large round and sweet chokes. I use them as you would potatoes and even eat them raw as you would an apple. They have a kind of coconutty taste to them.
My wife and I loved the tour! We find it interesting that condiments get put back in the pantry. We refrigerate everything after opening. I tell my wife all the time we have too many pantry items and she was pointing to the TV saying, "see, see they have a lot too!". I'll never be able to win that argument now! Lol
Very neat, tidy and well organized. I enjoy seeing all the food from other countries. I have a kitchen pantry, a fridge freezer and an upright freezer.
I recently went through my own pantry which I have kept fairly well stocked. I always date each item on the day I purchased it and highlight the expiration date before placing anything in my pantry. Like yourselves I have one large meal and one small in the evening but always have breakfast. When I look at your stockpile, which is extensive, I can’t imagine how so many things could be consumed before they expire. Please educate us all as to how you manage this aspect of your food. I generally shop twice per month as I live relatively close to many stores and also family farms.
I always date and rotate my food on the shelves too. If I open something and it doesnt get completely used either into the kitchen cupboard or fridge it goes and gets used in my meal rotation. Sometimes I'll gather it all up and make soup in a few days then freeze it or can it. Because I live alone I'll even make meat pies, or extra meatballs, etc. And freeze them for another time if I get it on sale and is too much for me. I live very rural and although the closest store is only 15 minutes away. I have a garden for most of my veggies and herbs but also buy from an organic local farm. I usually get my meats at another local farm as well that has an open to the public store. It's a win as far as I'm concered. Keeps me away from the not so fresh and good for you stuff that's so prevalent in our food these days.
I’m happy to see someone else who stocks up on food like I do. I never pay full price. When things are on offer I stock up. I go a bit overboard at time though. I’ve got about 15 cans of red salmon at the moment. I’ve got more food than you’re storing but it’s nowhere near as well organised. You’ve inspired me to organise my food stocks.
Hello from the US. I actually just found you on the video with your quilt in a week; lovely quilt that was. Love seeing your adorable puppies. I have started stockpiling food and staples because of the terrible increase in prices on food and everything else. I typically only buy product that's on sale. I live in a basement apt, very small; esp the kitchen - so space is at a premium. I buy in bulk and store in glass jars and lrg food storage containers. Thank you for sharing; take care. Until next time.
In addition to our kitchen fridge/freezer, we also have a well stocked freezer chest in our garage. Full of frozen meats, frozen vegetables and some convenience foods, frozen pot pies for lunches and Asian dumplings. Also we have a well stocked pantry of canned foods, dried pastas, beans. Sauces, oils and vinegars. Basically everything you have shown in your pantry and freezer including fish fingers, as my husband is British too and we live in America. If we were hit with a snow storm tomorrow, we definitely would have enough food to last a month or more. Great video and thanks for opening your house to us on TH-cam! 😊
Like the basement freezer, very nice design 😊 I had a quick stocktake of my freezer and pulled out the meatballs, going into the slow cooker with an onion gravy. Makes 3 tasty meals. The apple sauce sounds very good also the cheese gratin. Nothing beats a good cheats meal. Thank you Jane and Mike for inviting us to have a snoop into your cupboard. Scratches for the doggies. 🇦🇺👍
Thanks for the tour. Looking very spruce and tidy. I make nearly everything from scratch. I get organic fruit and veg delivered. I'm starting to build up my pantry with mostly tins of chick peas , tomatoes, pasta, flour , rice, oats and almond milk. I use the freezer for frozen fruit and bread mainly and some left over batch cooking. I buy my gpod quality, cold pressed olive oil in bulk from a local Greek grocers. Occasionally, I spice things up with a lovely Thai chicken curry from the farmer's market. We have lovely bread in this area and I sometimes get their carmelized onion and feta pizza. It's a bit of a foody area here, so we are spoiled for choice with cheese makers and even butter makers. I live a couple of hours from Melbourne. My son was born in Brittiany in Pontivy. So that's me!
We have a large food storage supply. We have a basement where I keep all my canning supplies, freeze dried foods and assorted tins. Paper products are kept in the garage and we have 4 freezers to keep the veggies we grow, the fish and meat we either hunt for or get on sale. I think we could go for 6 months easy without going to a store except for milk and butter, some fresh fruits but we have a small orchard so I can most of the fruits into either jellies and jams or pie fillings or as fruit slices.
Hi Jane and Mike 🤗 Great video as always. Loved seeing all the great things you have in your store cupboard and freezer. I only have my fridge freezer and would like to get a small freezer so I can take advantage of sales like you do. I try to take a few photos of my freezer space and my pantry before I go shopping so I know how much room I have to work with!LOL
Your pantry is very nice and organized. We can, freeze and dehydrate a lot of our homegrown food. Including herbs. I akso make sure that i buy extra tinned and dry goods. Here in Canada the food prices are getting higher and higher. As a crafter, i really like your quilting videos too. Keep up the good work.
I love this so much! You have so much food! I need to do better! With kids- we have snacks galore and then they decide they don’t like certain snacks. Sooo I need to clean it out and organize.
my boys are both doing sports over 2 hours a day so they eat full meals every few hours. How would you feed them this often then? Looking for advice! 9:05
@@rakakingsland9763 mine ate breakfast, lunch and dinner. No snacks- played competitive tennis and rugby. They don't need anything more than their proper meals.
@@rakakingsland9763 mine walked to school and back, did sport at school, competitive rugby and tennis after school and would walk to the supermarket with me and carry food in backpacks. Porridge and toast for breakfast, soup/sandwiches/fruit for lunch and a hearty evening meal of meat, potatoes and vegetables. No snacks. They get their calories and nutrients in the three meals. Snacks are not needed.
Excellent organisation Jane! I'm slowly building my pantry/storecupboard back up after moving earlier this year so not quite in your league yet! I have 2 freezers and they're always pretty full of bargains and offers too 🙂
I love seeing what you keep in stock. My fridge freezer is packed full. I do have a second freezer but it is just too expensive to power 2 freezers and alot of savings i make buying food are lost on cost of extra electric.
I am very lucky. When we built our house I requested a walk in pantry. We live in the country, so I try to stay well stocked. I have two frezzers. I also try my best to only buy items when they are on sale. Thanks for the tour!
Thank you for the little insight into your food storage. I have always kept a food storage, long before prices went out of control. I do the same, I purchase in bulk, when items that we use go on sale. Great job and keep up the great work.
Quite a collection. I find it interesting, having a gander into another pantry. As an individual who needs a pantry, and not a three-day supply of foods, i have taken notes, and took advice. Cheers 🇬🇧
Hello Jane, Mike, Mary & Dolly! I really enjoyed the freezer and pantry tour! I have a small freezer compartment as part of my refrigerator as well as an upright freezer similar to yours except it has shelves rather than bins. Unfortunately I do not have a pantry cabinet so I have a rolling cart that holds a decent amount for me. Like you I try to only buy on sale. Here in the midwest U.S. the sales are often on reduced price but we don't generally see % off sales. Occasionally we will see 10% off canned products but never 20% or 34% like you talk about. The pet supply stores will sometimes have 20% off online purchases. Thank you Jane!
I've a working pantry, brought my family of 5 children up single. I knew what hunger was from the tender age of 17 so instinct kicked in early to have full cupboards. I'm now a single working woman & its so expensive to live as one! My pantry is stocked for a year + my bills get paid i have an emergency fund & small nest egg. My only grandson has my free time, love & extra money " treats ". Really enjoy your channel 😊
Great video! Similar storage to yours! Will never go hungry even if a winter snowstorm means I cannot go out for a couple of days. Like you I try to always buy when on offer and always seasonal. I dry herbs from my garden or freeze them depending on what they are and also freeze some berries and local veggies to use in the winter . I try to keep everything in storage canisters like mason jars or Tupperware and put bay leaves on all of the shelves to ward off any moths etc. seems to work. Looking forward to that brownie recipe!
So neat and tidy! Makes me feel ashamed of my mess, I really must reorganise! I've turned a large walk-in closet into a storage/pantry/cool room with A/C in the summer. It's fantastic but gets messy quickly. Meat is rather expensive here in Canada so my husband always says "buy lots!" when something is on special (advert) We have a very large chest freezer in the garage and a small one in our porch. They are always full and we work diligently to make sure food gets rotated out regularly. It's a chore, but we manage. I also preserve by canning so if I fear something will "go over" soon, it gets pressure sealed in jars. Zero waste in this household!
I really enjoyed this! I have a refrigerator/ freezer in my kitchen and a freezer in my garage! What I love about your freezers are the drawers! Mine are just open shelves with a pullout basket in the bottom! I keep a well stocked freezer at all times with plenty of beef, poultry, pork, and assorted fish. I have some frozen vegetables and fruits but still need some more frozen green vegetables! I have a nice variety of flours, sugars, nuts, and seeds, coffee, teas and canned meat and fish, puddings, Birds custard, gelatins, salts and spices! Last week, I emptied and re-organized two cabinets in my kitchen. I keep shelf stable milk, and dried buttermilk powder, pastas, etc. I am well stocked.
Wonderful stock up of foods. What a inspiration Jane and Mike. Thank you for sharing I did stock up on wallnuts when 40% off recently. In the week of the special I did 3 orders. I checked the due date and bulk ordered😊
I have a freezer which is also on my fridge. But it’s not very big but I can fit what I need. I stock up when I get boosters or flybuys offers from Woolworths or Coles and I can earn bonus points to redeem for groceries later on.
thank you for the tour - as others said it motivates me to better organise our stocks. I have 2 freezers like you have but just bought a small chest freezer on bon coin. the tips on % off days are especially helpful to me; I will have a look at my local super U; leclerc carrefour etc to see what's on offer here. I love your dispenser for lentils and grains - what a great idea.
I encourage everyone to have a well stocked pantry. I do a lot of canning and have an extra refrigerator and a freezer in my garage. I also have stocked up on various grains which I mill fresh for bread, baked goods and hot cereals.
I stock up once a month. We live in an apartment in the US, but we have an insulated garage so it doesn't get too cold in there and that's where we store our freezer, which is similar in size to the one you have in your basement. I love your organizational skills. Everything is so easy to see so you don't struggle to find the older stock. Great video, Jane and Mike.
I fill my freezer and every couple of months I take everything out and list it all I then don’t buy so much stuff and use the freeze food until it has been eaten I then start all over again. I do this because I would just buy the food and keep it in the freezer for years I do the same with my store cupboards Sometimes we buy food that is very cheap and it’s just not worth it , you get what you pay for I try to get the store of food to work for me and not to over do the stock piling. Rebecca
This week I am culling and circulating my long term pantry. I enjoy it. But I do find the occasional discoveries. As a result will be making a blackberry cobbler today.
Hi Mike and Jane you are so organised. I also loved this video - thank you as always💖🤗 My kitchen is very sparse. My fridge is almost empty and I have a fridge/freezer but the freezer is stocked up with poultry and fish, vegetables, soups and berries (I think I have mentioned this before!). I don't have much in my kitchen cupboards though have a shelf of various teas, coffee, drinking chocolate and the same sweetener that you use as well as honey and maple syrup. Apart from a container of rice and a few knorr stock pots and a few other bits and literaly not much. However, I have started building a extra food source of tins, rice, honey, oat milk etc as well as stocking up on toiletries, T. Rolls, cleaning products etc. May you both have a blessed week and your little doggies are as always so very cute - Daisy and Mary (as you can tell I am not great at remembering their name🤦♀)
Thanks, looks like mine. I have an upright freezer as well as fridge freezers(2) when the children where home they were always full to the brim , still full but not bulging. Keep my pantry well stocked as well. I do a big shop on 15%tue and shop weekly sales. Only buy what I need. Look forward to each video, thanks.
Canadian here. I have some things set aside as well. I have a baking cupboard to make gluten free and regular baking things from. I have a pantry and a store cupboard with tins and bulk purchased items. I have items I have canned ( strawberry rhubarb jam, relish, raspberry jam, peaches, tomtaotes...) under a bed. I try only to purchase things on sale(on offer). We get most of our produce and meat/fish discounted or on clearance. My deep freezer is stocked with clearance meats and seasonal produce. I have a bag that I store veggie peels and bits and bones for making stock. I stock up on red lentils, navy/kidney/black beans and chickpeas. I have herbs from my garden that i have dehydrated, along with leeks, carrots, onions, cherry tomatoes and celery for making stews and soups. It's about having healthy ingredients to make delicious flexitarian meals. It also is planning as we live in a small town of about 5000 and winters can be snowy. Cost savings is a must for us.
Nice to see a good Pantry store and to see someone using same tactics have used for years to and grown up with to build up a good food store. I am lucky in that I have a small walk in Pantry with shelves floor to ceiling one side, larger shelves in the middle to just below waist height and shelves to the right to about waist height. There is storage underneath for a couple of large plastic containers for bulk items. Then I have under the stair cupboard where all my jams, chutneys, pickles, curds, bottled fruits and heat processed foods stored which also escape into what was the old fireside cupboard. Making what space I do have work for me, although could do with a larger Pantry overall. Cook a lot of stuff from scratch although have very occasionally convenience food not often though. Buy when on offer and "cherry pick" items that we eat and work for us on a regular basis. Have also just got another freezer after 3 years without any and have just got it stocked up. Lost a shed in a fire together with three freezers, two wine coolers and an extra fridge and contents. Taken a while to replace. Also have a large larder fridge as well. Food usually stocked at the beginning of the month with measures to freeze foods to cover towards the end of the month as well. We pay it forward to cover all eventualities. If pennies are tight we still eat well and the Pantry sees us through and gives food security. Everyone should have one. Keep up the good work. Tricia
I have 4 freezers, usually pretty full most of the time. I really am trying to cut back. We have a mini-farm and butcher a beef usually every year which I split with my son. (he is our butcher, etc.) We will also get a hog and butcher that. We have a large garden and I can our vegetables, freeze vegetables. We have chickens for eggs. We purchase in bulk. I have a bunch of butter in the freezer that I bought on sale, just today I went to the Amish Market for their yearly cheese sale and I purchased large blocks with I sliced and used my vacuum sealer. It will last a long time and some of the cheese can be frozen. Anything I buy I try to buy on sale, markdowns or we buy in bulk (Oatmeal, Rice, Flour, Sugar, etc.) I also will help with a local food truck and will usually be given leftover food (breads, vegetables, fruits, etc.)
I cut a little from the stem from the broccoli and stand it upright in a jar of water(as you would a bunch of flowers) Each time I take some I cut another slice and use fresh water. It stays crisp for ages.
I love your freezer...it is compact where I also love the drawers. I have an upright freezer for the surplus. Brown bags for the storage of veggies...never heard of it. Looks like I will try that out in the near future.
I live 40 minutes from the nearest grocery store. We also have a lot of storms with snow or freezing rain this time of year. I keep at least a three month supply of food on hand so I don't have to go to the store. It also allows me to only buy what's on deep discount.
Oh Jane you are so very organised really very much it’s a challenge for me from today onwards , and not paying for full price is a wow cause really you are so stock up and very organise. What I like the most you and Mike eat very healthy and that’s is very super good love your lifestyle
Love, love, love, your pantries and freezers. I wish I had all those drawers in mine. I put bins on my shelves to seperate different meats and vegies etc. My fish and other seafood things go in the drawers. My husband passed away 2yrs ago so I've gone through my pantry and restocked only for myself now. Its a 6x9 temp controlled walk in that I also keep paper goods and my big soup pots and other kitchen pans and gadgets in that I don't use everyday. It keeps me from heading to the basement for them. I had a lot of dry goods like pastas, beans, rice, flour, those sort of things so i vacume sealed them in glass jars. They'll last longer that way. I used pint size jars because im only cooking for one now. I wish i could find some of the things you showed us here in the U.S. I try to eat whole healthy foods without a lot of unnecessary toxic ingredients. The fewer on the "warning label" as I like to call it, the better. I live very rural with a lot of snow in the winter. So this time of year I make sure my pantry is well stocked. I only go shopping 2 times a month and shop the sales and get free as well as points items like you do, except to get fresh milk and butter at the little country store down the road. Staying organized can be a challenge but you seem to have it well in hand.
Thank you for sharing! ❤ You and Mike give very related contents , even we live in different continent, with different type of ethnic cooking, from stocks stored in 2 similar size freezers and pantries! We need to learn more from you on budgeting for our stocks though
Nice video. I am my mother's daughter, in that she had a huge pantry. It was a walk in closet with shelving all around, I have 4 shelves in the basement and a cupbard that I use day to day in the kitchen. I am so curious about the discounts days. My stores don't have that.
Fascinating looking at other peoples stores lol. I have a pantry that hubby built into an outbuilding so it’s quite roomy and I have an apple rack in there as our apple trees always produce loads. Having grown a lot of our own for years I have always had stores in the two freezers but this year I have ramped it up and also got hooked on pressure canning 😂 I could do with better organisation though 🤪
At approximately 9:24 you are spinning around a container in the cupboard. Love it! Where did you find that? We keep well stocked also. With just the two of us I do not find the need to go to the big box stores. I see more and more couples wasting huge amounts of food. I just shop the sales and loss leaders and do really well at it.
Love seeing what you have in your cupboards! Wish I had as much space for my pantry. Especially freezer space. I love cooking and baking double, to save time later but my freezer is not big. You’ve got me thinking about how I store my veg in the fridge. Great tip about putting things in paper or wrapping in kitchen roll. Makes sense, will be trying that, thanks😁😁
I only have my top freezer on my fridge but we have a good stockpile of items in the basement. You look like you could eat for years on your pantry! Very organized! Love it!
It is nice to see someone else stock up on food items they bring back from their home country. I am doing my best to find substitute items in the country I now live in. Instead of beef gravy, I now use a creamed beef soup.
We have months worth of food. I only buy sales to stock up too. We have two local free groups and I got a lot of tinned foods for our pantry there. I also do surveys and get Amazon codes and buy pantry items. I also use any points I have on store cards to stock up. I try to get as much as I can for free!
Debbie-Texas we have our fridge freezer but are blessed to have 6 ft length freezer in our garage. We have a garden so I can and freeze the surplus. We buy 1/2 beef every 2 yrs, when the price is right. Pork, fish is bought on sale only. Much like you do. We go the store 1x a month, unless dog food or something we need is really on a good sale. Cupboards could hold us about 2 months ( dry goods) our kids are grown and some live close by with the grands. Enjoy cooking for them once a week. Thank you both !!
I do keep a well stocked pantry. When my grandson moved out, we took his bedroom over as a pantry. We keep our dry goods and canned goods on shelves. We have 2 freezers and a refrigerator freezer. I have racks on the wall in the pantry with my backup spices. A very dark curtain keeps it dark in there and a fan runs for air circulation. I’m very thankful I’m able to have this supply. Again - great video. 😊
love your pantry we have our pantry where the coal house was but its in doors and cold whitch is very handy and stock up all year round save to get the winter out merry christmas time to you both.✨
Hi, greetings from Germany, after having binge-watched several of your vlogs, I thought, I'd comment on this one: My pantry is one cupboard, with something for drinking, pasta, rice, quinoa and such, some few things for baking and some for snacks and condiments. Then some few things for making my own yumyum, Olive oil, seasonings in two hanging cabinets. Also on freezer with three boxes. Recently I found, that I have far too much stuff for one person, even considering having a stockpile. So my shopping These days revolves more around buying fresh food, like ready made salads, cucumbers and other þhings more in season. Keeps my Shopping Bill, for the time beeing on about 100 € a month or even rather less. Which is very nice and I intend to keep it that way. Luckily, there are a lot of Discounters like Aldi nearby, so that makes it easy. Also, since I really have to loose weight, I am working to have the healthy food "Take Over", not easy, but I am working on it. Still, I am not going to return extra early, but I hope for 4 years earlier. I have one debt left, but that will be paid off, before my retirement, even an early one. My flat is paid off and I do not own a car, also, I am one person. Makes stockpiling easier. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you for this tour - now I'm very inspired to sort my own pantry in a more stylish manner. 🙂 Those cute doggies of yours - I love that you let us see them at the end of all videos. ❤
That was really interesting seeing your pantry/freezer situation, thank you for inviting us into your home. There's only my husband and myself, but we have a standup freezer that makes it so convenient to to stock up on proteins, butter, veg when they're on sale. We have a small pantry area and I try to keep one in use, and one on standby for most things, but have more of canned salmon, etc. that we buy on sale.
Wow, that’s a great stock Jane, you won’t go hungry. I don’t have a stockpile of food, just buy fortnighly wen pension comes in, we never go hungry though, I always have flour, eggs and milk in the house so can always make pancakes, scones or omelet’s 😊
Advice please for those of us who live in a tiny house and no basement. Not all of us have a kitchen with two huge cupboards like yours - my entire kitchen would fit into one of your pantries. No basement here in my tiny terraced UK house - I wish! It would be good to know how others in very small homes create a stockpile ?
In my pantry I have dried goods rice pasta dryed beans ect flour baking ingredients then I have a cold slab to put more stuff on then i bought 2 slimline trolleys for my tinned goods which I can wheel out of the pantry 😊 your stockpile is fantastic 😊😊😊
Great video as always. Have you ever watched Kate at the full freezer, she has amazing tips on packing your freezer and freezing foods you wouldn’t have thought of freezing. Completely changed the way I use my freezer. Although we live in a very small bungalow I have at least four months supply of all the foods that we eat, like yourself tinned meats and chicken, fish such as tuna, salmon, sardines and mackerel. We are in the process of making a vegetable plot as we are lucky enough to have a big garden. Maybe because I am a boomer and old habits passed on from my grandparents and parents are ingrained. Keep up the great work.
I am in awe at your organisation. I have specific cupboards for tins, pasta, oils, drawer for spices, etc, but that's about it. My baking cupboard, the one where I keep all my trays, tins and racks, is in urgent need of sorting or streamlining, I can't remove a tin without a clatter and several others tumbling out!
What lovely pantries and freezers! So organized. I have the freezer up top in my refrigerator, and a smaller sized chest freezer. I have everything in my chest freezer in canvas bags so I just have to lift them out to see whats in the bottom. I have a large free standing pantry in my kitchen, taller than me and five shelves. I wish it was half as organized as yours.
we have a spare mini freezer (just 2 shelves really) in the garage that is used as an overflow if Ive been making home made stock & soups, and at Christmas, or as we eat down the main freezer I can utilise it whilst I clean the freezer, I dont tend to use it all year round to keep energy costs down
Great stock there Jane, you are so organised, I wish my freezers looked as good as yours. I too try to stock up when things are on offer and I always look out for the reductions especially on the meat and poultry( I don’t eat fish). I have a fridge freezer and an under the counter size freezer,I rotate things from my under the counter one into the fridge freezer in my kitchen which I use out of first. Anything new goes into the under the counter one. I portion thing up before freezing them. I also bulk cook and freeze fresh produce I don’t think I will use before it deteriates . I freeze produce from my garden that is surplus to use over winter. I too take advantage of the offers on my loyalty cards.
What an amazing pantry. You could feed an army! I remember when I lived in Belgium I would stock up on Shepards pie mix, English mustard and custard! Thank you so much Jane and Mike for sharing your pantry . I have learned a lot 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Jane! We are in NE Tennessee and we stock food as well. We have 2 freezers too! During the holiday turkeys and hams go on sale and so we buy several for the freezer. We wrap them up well and they keep well for at least a year.
Living in Texas with unpredictable climate and right in the hurricane alley, my sweet husband got me into prepping we have 3 chest freezer in the garage, one for meats, veggies and seafood. He also can and I’m the one doing the good deal shopping. ❤
@ yes Ma’am we have 2 backup generators and one of which is tri-fuel. During the most recent hurricane Beryl, we were blessed to have our household running in order because of my husband’s advanced initiatives and efforts.
What I found most interesting is how you store your fresh vegetables in the refrigerator. I think I need to look into this a bit more to keep our food more fresh. Thanks Jane for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
Love your organization. So interesting to see food items we don't have here in the states. Glad you have a nice stockpile.
Thanks for watching!
@@leahwinn4056 thank you for watching
Thanks so much for watching
That's great
Wow….that Pantry was spotless !😊.
@ thanks for sharing
Great pantry tour! Well stocked and organized! It shows a full pantry can be done on a budget. Thank you so much Jane and Mike for sharing.
Our pleasure!
Sounds great!
Thus is a fantastic resume for a wholesome lifestyle. We are almost there in our actions like your own.
Might I ask what you do for milk?
Cheers 🇬🇧
This is a copy paste for our family. This time of year everything is bountiful and full. By summer next year. Not as much. Until the garden starts producing. I also live in USA. Midwest. I purchase all my dairy items at store. Milk. Cheese. Butter. Etc.
@@elle7058 This year, I retired early, and our lives were all about that shift, so my larders look like Harry Potter has left the room, currently 😂
We are sooo in need next season to fill up our spaces again.

Sounds great!
Those tinned dauphinois spuds look delicious 😋 never seen them here in the UK .
Great video Jane and Mike 😊
So good!
I think I've seen them in Lidl, when they do their French promotion.
I like how your freezer has built in bins, not shelves!! It means you can store more food without if falling out when the door is opened!!
Thank you. I enjoy that too
I recently went through my own pantry which I have kept fairly well stocked.
@@janicebrowningaquino792 stock check weekly and meal plan based on what needs eating first
I always date and rotate my food on the shelves too.
Thanks for watching
Great organization!!!! Baskets & bins are always a plus.
Thanks for watching
Just picked up a half a steer yesterday! Manitoba, Canada.
Good for you. I am vegetarian, but my family is not. Fresh home grown meat is the best resource for omnivores. Good on you.
Enjoy it
@@bushnut8305 My son's in Canada so I love to hear about life there.
Like the basement freezer, very nice design 😊
I had a quick stocktake of my freezer and pulled out the meatballs, going into the slow cooker with an onion gravy.

Thanks for watching!
We live in a village 16k from Pontivy, my youngest child was also born in the hospital there , 27 years ago.
@BinkieUrquhart Lovely.
That is awesome!
I am delighted to see that someone else loves mustards as much as I!
Thanks so much! 😊
Another enjoyable video on my quiet Sunday afternoon. Fantastic organization!
Glad you enjoyed it
Your pantry is very nice and organized.
We can, freeze and dehydrate a lot of our homegrown food. Including herbs. I akso make sure that i buy extra tinned and dry goods. Here in Canada the food prices are getting higher and higher.

Thank you for the little insight into your food storage. I have always kept a food storage, long before prices went out of control. I do the same, I purchase in bulk, when items that we use go on sale. Great job and keep up the great work.

I do the same with organizing my pantry so preparing meals is so much easier.
It really is!
I envy your food storage - my idea of heaven.
Pleased to see you have Colman's Mustard - the absolute best in my view.
Thank you
I've a working pantry, brought my family of 5 children up single.

Thank you
So neat and tidy!
Sounds fine to me
I really enjoyed this!
Yes you are

I did stock up on wallnuts when 40% off recently. In the week of the special I did 3 orders. I checked the due date and bulk ordered😊
That is awesome!
Sounds great!
Sounds great!
I fill my freezer and every couple of months I take everything out and list it all
I then don’t buy so much stuff and use the freeze food until it has been eaten
I then start all over again. I do this because I would just buy the food and keep it in the freezer for years
I do the same with my store cupboards
Sometimes we buy food that is very cheap and it’s just not worth it , you get what you pay for
I try to get the store of food to work for me and not to over do the stock piling. Rebecca

Apart from a container of rice and a few knorr stock pots and a few other bits and literaly not much.

Thanks
I cut a little from the stem from the broccoli and stand it upright in a jar of water(as you would a bunch of flowers) Each time I take some I cut another slice and use fresh water. It stays crisp for ages.
3 full size freezers and one small freezer 😊
I love your freezer...it is compact where I also love the drawers. I have an upright freezer for the surplus. Brown bags for the storage of veggies...never heard of it. Looks like I will try that out in the near future.
They all looked fantastic.👍🏴🇬🇧
I live 40 minutes from the nearest grocery store. We also have a lot of storms with snow or freezing rain this time of year. I keep at least a three month supply of food on hand so I don't have to go to the store. It also allows me to only buy what's on deep discount.
Very sensible
Oh Jane you are so very organised really very much it’s a challenge for me from today onwards , and not paying for full price is a wow cause really you are so stock up and very organise. What I like the most you and Mike eat very healthy and that’s is very super good love your lifestyle
We try

Thank you
Thank you for sharing. Only on fridge..larger pantry. Shop twice a month curbside ...health issues.
Thanks for watching
This was a really good video. I have a walk in pantry and 3 freezers. Everything is full
love your pantry we have our pantry where the coal house was but its in doors and cold whitch is very handy and stock up all year round save to get the winter out merry christmas time to you both.✨
Hi, greetings from Germany, after having binge-watched several of your vlogs, I thought, I'd comment on this one:
My pantry is one cupboard, with something for drinking, pasta, rice, quinoa and such, some few things for baking and some for snacks and condiments.
Thanks for watching
Thank you for this tour - now I'm very inspired to sort my own pantry in a more stylish manner. 🙂
Those cute doggies of yours - I love that you let us see them at the end of all videos.
You are so welcome!
Wow, that’s a great stock Jane, you won’t go hungry. I don’t have a stockpile of food, just buy fortnighly wen pension comes in, we never go hungry though, I always have flour, eggs and milk in the house so can always make pancakes, scones or omelet’s 😊
So true!
Follow preppergranny on instagram. British lady, tiny house, stores enough food for months. Great tips.?
In my pantry I have dried goods rice pasta dryed beans ect flour baking ingredients then I have a cold slab to put more stuff on then i bought 2 slimline trolleys for my tinned goods which I can wheel out of the pantry 😊 your stockpile is fantastic 😊😊😊
Sounds great!
Thank you
I am in awe at your organisation. I have specific cupboards for tins, pasta, oils, drawer for spices, etc, but that's about it. My baking cupboard, the one where I keep all my trays, tins and racks, is in urgent need of sorting or streamlining, I can't remove a tin without a clatter and several others tumbling out!
@@corinneleppard1933 happy sorting
What lovely pantries and freezers! So organized. I have the freezer up top in my refrigerator, and a smaller sized chest freezer. I have everything in my chest freezer in canvas bags so I just have to lift them out to see whats in the bottom. I have a large free standing pantry in my kitchen, taller than me and five shelves. I wish it was half as organized as yours.
Sounds great!
we have a spare mini freezer (just 2 shelves really) in the garage that is used as an overflow if Ive been making home made stock & soups, and at Christmas, or as we eat down the main freezer I can utilise it whilst I clean the freezer, I dont tend to use it all year round to keep energy costs down
Thanks
Reminds me, i need to organize my pantry before holidays
Great pantry and freezer stock!
Thank you 😋
What an amazing pantry. You could feed an army! I remember when I lived in Belgium I would stock up on Shepards pie mix, English mustard and custard! Thank you so much Jane and Mike for sharing your pantry . I have learned a lot 🙏🙏🙏
I love how organised you are. You have so much food! I have 2 freezers... the chest freezer is practically empty so i feel a trip to iceland is coming
Great idea!!
Hi Jane! We are in NE Tennessee and we stock food as well. We have 2 freezers too! During the holiday turkeys and hams go on sale and so we buy several for the freezer. We wrap them up well and they keep well for at least a year.
Sounds great!
Living in Texas with unpredictable climate and right in the hurricane alley, my sweet husband got me into prepping we have 3 chest freezer in the garage, one for meats, veggies and seafood. He also can and I’m the one doing the good deal shopping. ❤
@@FriedaMoscoso-ss4jj that's great, do you have back up generators?
@ yes Ma’am we have 2 backup generators and one of which is tri-fuel. During the most recent hurricane Beryl, we were blessed to have our household running in order because of my husband’s advanced initiatives and efforts.
Aloha from Hawaii thank you and love youre videos. I am from the caribbean i stock up as well. I love to cook we dont eat out much. ❤
