  • I have travelled to Finland three times and this is my list of things to hate about Finland! I don't actually hate Finland and will post my list of reasons that I love Finland soon, too :). Here, I was wandering around a beautiful and snowy landscape in Oulu, Finland. I was visiting to discuss math with some colleagues at University of Oulu. What do you hate about Finland?

You're a foreigner, you're supposed to hate salmiakki! It's our greatest joy in life to offer it to foreigners like it is a sacred ritual to eat salmiakki and then watch their face when trying to pretend they appreciate the gesture.

Some of the things you hate are related to the Finnish winter. Those things are different in the summer, when there is even too much light and heat. You can see a lot more people on the street in summer, and there are many events in all cities.

The city seems to be dead because its cold outside. In the winter time people usualy like to stay inside and only go out when they have to.
Summer is the time to visit Finland if you want to see other people around. 😁

Thanks! I came last year in the summer with my mom. We had the opposite problem because of the heatwave 🌞

Go to Mummotunneli in Helsinki. It's super crowded sort of a bar street, open during the warmer months (not in the winter). Nightclubs close usually around 4am in Finland. For smaller pubs and bars it might be earlier, like 12 - 2am, or even earlier than that.

Those drivers who are recklessly 4-wheel drifting about are not drunk drivers. They are just yobbos showing off.

I'm a Finn and my favorite city in the world is Detroit! Not a big fan of salmiakki.

That hate list is a bit lame. I like salmiakki, sauna and solitude, but this did not press any of my buttons, as a Finn.

Maybe Finland is lame of there's nothing cool to hate.

dude i´m an expert of not using much money in finland and it is REALLY cheap when you know how to do it. gore-tex and down jackets for under 10 euros (uff) and free museum days and free booze at gallerium openings and ...... just a million more things. free sauna, kilju, .....
i´m doing very well with absolute minimum money.

going out or to cafes might be expensive ... and if you really wanna eat fancy food ... but those are the only things that cost. you get art and culture and music and ..... just so much for free or almost free.
but i agree. you have to know the things.

salmiakki, sauna, etc. are voluntary opportunities, I don't understand how you can hate them. Weather or views or people can be objects of anger, but voluntary things???

You are a finn, what you have told about ur familyline. Ur ansestors loved the cold and think how much fun it was looong time ago when u had few months crazy Getting ready to winter in four months of summer growingtime. And it is weird you say about traffic that. Might just by ur luck, hehee. But hey i believe that part of finn u got inside of you will get melted from that huge iceblock u got growen over him by being years in mild lattitudes of sun and warmth. Brrrhh cant imagine all year warmth and light of sun that little finn inside you must be afraid and scaried to death.

What? It's a requirement to love cold if you have finnish heritage?
I wish my mother had known it so I could have been born to somewhere else.

    • @billsaftermath5477
      @billsaftermath5477  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah, I can totally believe that it was just bad luck. I definitely handle the cold much better than the sun and heat. After all, I was walking around with a sun umbrella in Spain, lol. I guess something must have told me to visit Finland during February lol.
