Mick Foley said in his first book that the secret to the bed of nails is to hit as many as possible at a time because it distributes the impact more and no individual nail goes that far into you. He said that one time Leatherface broke off just a couple nails, drove them into a dude's neck, and almost killed him.

Oh. Have I ever! I started on that like 6 years before OSW. I found OSW through recommended videos while watching Botchamania and Wrestling With Wregret. Out of all the similarly themed channels, OSW has the best of all the worlds. The best time EVER was when I watched one OSW episode and realized they had so many more... Enough can't be said about the presence and facts and just hotdoging and grandstanding that I have come to love dearly from my Boys Jay Hunter, Steve (OOC) and also Steve (V1). They have put a genuine smile on my face. I'm 38 and the old school reviews just hit some sort of sweet spot with me. As always. Yokozuna numba one!!!! Caesars Palace numba one!!! And all the Noggers numba one!!! Plus Botchamania lacks the on point, hilarious and very factual commentary of my favorite mildly racist Irish lads.

In response to V1's complains at the psychology of Terry Funk not running the ropes even though he was thrown with Cactus Jack's Irish Whip:
The reason wrestlers would run with the flow of an Irish Whip is because it's the easiest way to carry momentum. If the wrestlers just stopped and resisted they would be put off balance and be in a perfect position to take a move like a Front Russian Leg Sweep. However if they run the ropes they would be farther away from the opponent, and on their way back could either reverse what the opponent is trying to do, or quickly throw a move of their own.
"Well why don't they hit the ropes and just stay there then?" I hear you asking, the reason being if they hit the ropes with their back and stand still, the opponent would logically hit a clothesline to knock them over the top rope and potentially straight on their head on the hard apron or floor.
Terry Funk did the most logical thing, using Jack's momentum to get a few steps away from him to avoid a direct move, but being able to stop right in front of the barbed wire ropes. Because Funk is so close to the barbed wire, he could easily reverse the forward momentum from any of Jack's potential moves straight into the barbed wire. Recognizing this Jack decides to not continue the offence instead taking a moment to pause and figure out his next point of attack. Funk sees his plan was executed perfectly and taunts Jack by tapping his own head, saying in his body language: "See Jack, this body may be worn but this mind is not. My ring experience will be your downfall."

There's a trick to those beds of nails that magicians also took advantage of when they used them in live performances - if you lie down in one the weight gets distributed equally and so you don't actually get hurt or even feel pain.
Magicians would even have cinderblocks placed on their bodies while they're on such a bed, and then have those blocks be destroyed by a hammer, but they wouldn't get hurt.
Obviously the scientific principles behind that may not pull through if you hit the bed at odd angles and so on, but they're probably safer than they look. They're safer than the actual barbed wire I reckon

Funny the conversation about wrestlers not being good enough so they have to turn to death match wrestling, Moxley started that way, goes to the Dub and then goes back to that style of wrestling.

29:40 Sadly, this was probably the best Gordy could do from mid 1993 onwards - a painkiller overdose lead to a coma that caused permanent brain damage. Considering he was used to doing those fiery rasslin'-style promos throughout his career, this approach is a far cry from his prime.

Thanks for another great review, lads! I was trying to put my finger on why I disliked this ppv so much, then it was summed up perfectly by V1 around 1:03. Gimme neon clad wrestlers who can actually go... and hilarious promos. You can have all the blood and barbed wire bats. Still, I'll watch this review at least three times like every osw review episode.
