Microsoft doesn't want you running Linux . Microsoft also wanted to help PC manufacturers sell NEW systems during the pandemic . So enter secure boot and Windows 11 and the you PC cant run 11 . Lol
What if I want to boot Linux mint on an external hard drive through my PC? (my PC has windows 10 installed internally). Will secure boot stop any external operating systems from booting?
If the linux flavour is digitally signed then you won’t get any error while booting. If you tried, let me know how it went as I responded too late 🙆🏻♂️
Yes, Secure Boot can cause issues when installing Linux Mint, as it may prevent the Linux installer from booting or block certain drivers from functioning properly. Secure Boot is a security feature designed to ensure that only trusted (signed) software boots on your computer. Since not all Linux distributions or their drivers are signed with a Microsoft key, Secure Boot may interfere with the installation. Unfortunately, you cannot disable Secure Boot directly from CMD or PowerShell. Disabling it requires accessing the BIOS/UEFI settings of your system.

Should i turn on secure boot? Will it effect boot time or something else ??
I am trying to install Linux mint and replace windows, can secure boot cause any problems?
If so can I disable it from CMD or Powershell?

Your explanation is very clear , Thanks
Great explanation. One question: Would it be better to whitelist the software rather than disable secure boot?
Whitelising the software will only help after the system boots up. It is not possible to check the signature/status while booting the system.
I have lenevo laptop i want to enable secure boot so i reset to factory setting will it affect my laptop qarranty
It won’t 👍🏻
Is it recommended to turn on if i have a gaming pc?
If you don’t trust the game manufacturer or programs that you run on your gaming pc then you can 👍🏻
That's it. I'm out. Back to Linux I go 🚶
