How to take the knob assembly and spring off the shock absorber?

Do you have anything used I can buy off you for a rear shock on a 2012 R1200GSA? Mine is leaking oil pretty badly.

would be great to know how you got on with the bike after the shock was serviced, did it handle much better etc? My Gs rear has done 40,000 miles no leaks but handling feels very rough, doesnt glide of bumps like it used too!

I just bought my 2010 GS with 40,000KM on it... I don't know what to compare with but it feels rough, no float. Thinking I might buy a set of Tourtech springs.

I will try to make a follow up video. Ever since Lukas rebuilt it, it's been perfect though. The rear shock is smooth and progressive.

I had Lucus service mine last summer. The main reason was I felt the shock was harsh especially through the seat into my lower back which I've been having problems with. I was hoping for a dramatic improvement, but i can't honestly say it feels much different.
Not sure whether it's just a problem with my back or if I need to change the shock for something softer!

When you remove the shock does the bottom bolt have a bushing that also has to be removed before you can slide the bottom out?

Hi Matt sorry I didn't see your question. I checked through the video, and didn't see anything on my bike.

What kind of liquid used to clean the parts? The one in the spray bottle. Thanks.

If you happen to be in Istanbul, stop by MOTOSENKRON and have all the shock absorbers of BMW motorcycles repaired with a one-year warranty, very cheap 250 euros.

How has the shock repair held up? How long has it been installed since the rebuild?

    • @projectmoto9089

It's only been around a year, but I can't see why it wouldn't last as long as it would from new. Still works perfect.
