Thank you very much for making all these videos. I have watched and rewatched your videos many times. Bless you for all the time you have put into these videos.💐
About 4 years ago, I bought the Quantum, and used it for quilting (mostly) for about 2-3 months. Then I had a stroke, and all things went untouched for all that time. We moved, twice, we had 3 deaths in the family, and other events kept me from picking up sewing again. I began pulling all the parts together, but couldn't find the instructions. I found you on TH-cam, and joy! All kinds of projects are coming to me, and thoughts of, "Oh! That's what that is for!" etc. I am very much looking forward to sewing again! Thank you so much!
I'm so happy I found your videos. I keep reading the manual and I get more confused. But I have now watched 4 of your videos and you have answered many questions. Thank you.
I just bought this machine. I'm not a quilter but this is a great tutorial and gave me ideas for embellishing garments. I'm falling more and more in love with this machine.
From this video I've learned three thigs: I need to read the manual all over again, I must watch the whole video series again and this is my new favorite stitch!!! That will be so useful for my quilted bags :) Thanks Roxanne!!!
Roxanne - THANK YOU isn't enough! I'm recently retired and decided to take up quilting! I bought the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 and can't get over how much has changed since my 1977 Singer Machine! Your videos are wonderful and I know I will be coming back to them many times as I'm learning. Thank you!
Hi Dianne! Congrat's on Retiring and purchasing the 9960. Glad to hear my videos have been helpful! Thanks for taking a moment to leave such a kind comment!!
Such a helpful tutorial - as are all your videos on the Singer 9960. I watch these videos all the time in my sewing room. Many thanks for creating them.
I just got my machine Tuesday. It's fun trying out different stitches. I was wondering what the 1/4 foot was for. I didn't realize it was a 1/4 inch foot :). Thank you so much for all your time you put into these videos.
What would I do without your videos!!! I would have never figured this out with the instruction book. What a neat looking stitch. I couldn't even get the quilting guide to fit until I saw this. Thanks!
Hi Vickie! You are so welcome! Glad my videos are helpful! Consider joining our active Facebook group for fun and support. facebook.com/groups/SingerQuantumStylist9960Fans
Thank you so much for all your video tutorials for this machine. I'm working my way through them all and have already learned so much from you. So happy I saw your FB post today.!! Huggers!
Yay, Roxanne! I just discovered how to use the #8 quilting stitch the other day - I couldn't believe how nicely it resembles hand quilting. I used it for an accent to a spread I'm making for a birthday gift. Although I prefer hand quilting over machine quilting, because of tendinitis issues with my hand, I am very happy I now have an alternative that simulates that look. I am still loving my 9960! -jo p.s. when you were demonstrating the shorter stitch, I was imagining how that could be worked to give the look of a hand pick stitch when installing a zipper...
Hi Jo! The #8 stitch really is a great discovery isn't it? So many possibilities for using this stitch. I think your idea for using it to simulate a hand picked zipper is Brilliant! Thanks for take the time to leave a comment. I appreciate it!!
August 2021. Thank you so much for this video and your other videos. Learning so much from you! probably would have returned this machine without seeing videos.
Would love to see this specific video expanded to show more (needles, thread type, etc.). Possibly on rag quilts with 10x10 cuddle cakes with either flannel or regular batting. On to vid 13 and beyond while I wait for my 9960 to ship!
Thank you so much for making these videos! They are so helpful, more so than the manual. I am having a hard time inserting the quilting bar into the hole of the shank(?). It just doesnt fit and Im afraid to force it. It doesn't glide easily into the hole like your video shows. Any suggestions?
I absolutely love this video series. They have helped me so much understand my 9960 better. You've help me to shortcut by doing the work for me and us *anyone else loving these video's*. Thank You!!! btw...I've watched them over and over. Jake's a Girl
exceptional video. I am looking at getting this for medieval costumes and occasional light upholstery work. pretty impressed so far. any comment on suitability for medium thickness vinyl? the kind of stuff you find on gym equipment...
Thank you for all your hard work on the tutorial videos for the 9960! They have been very helpful as the manual is very basic. The 9960 come with a binding foot, could you show how to use this accessory? I am new to quilting and my binding is a bit to be desired :)!
I just bought a quarter inch presser foot today. I know this video is from 8 years ago, but can someone tell me if I will need to change the needle to a quilting needle?
I have a 9960 and firstly thank you for your videos 🙏. Second I need to compete a baby quilt and watched your video on the 1/4 quilting foot and the one on how to install the walking food. I will be using plain quilters cotton on the front and back and using cotton batting. I would love your opinion on if I should use the walking foot or the 1/4 inch foot. I am not trying my hand at the free motion quilting but would just like straight or long wavy quilting lines. I love that heirloom stitch you showed in video 12 but do you need to use that foot for that or can I use the walking foot with that one? Suggestions for the one that will be the easiest please. Thanks
Thank you very much for the tips been very helpful! Just got this machine a year ago I am enjoying use it a lot there is things I don't k now about it, so this has been very helpful! Thank for sharing!!! Liz PS Just Subscribed to your channel...
Wow I've owned my Quantum Stylist 9960 for 4 years but have only started quilting recently. I thought I would need to upgrade my machine but now I know I don't have to. One question though, can you use the quilting bar with a walking foot ? I'm thinking not. (p.s. your videos are great)
Hi Roxanne, Thank you for this very helpful video series. I have been told that the clear/invisible thread can become brittle over time and may break - what is your experience with this? I have been hesitant to use the clear threads in my quilting, but would love to take advantage of the beautiful quilting stitch #8. Best wishes.
Hello, I was wondering what your recommendation for the brand and size of thread you use? Do you use the exact same thread on your bobin as you see with? Thank you
Hi Roxanne! I followed this super helpful viddo, but cannot get the pressed foot to go up toughened highest level? I lower the foot, racketeering and try to rise of again but it will!y doesn't budge? Can you telling me what I'm missing? Ma y thanks.
Good to know quilting is possible on this machine. I must of got a dud! Sewing up a quick pair of kids pj pants, easy but quilting?! Ugh! Soon as I sew a long line, like a few feet, i start getting upper thread error. Every single time! So i rethread, sew again, works fine, & BAM soon as I sew long lines, it starts again! & quilting quilting, like sewing over the layers with batting, that's a joke too.. I am so frustrated!
A couple of other owners have reported bad upper thread sensors in their machines. Make sure you're threading with the presser foot up. That should help. If not, please call Singer for advice.
Thanks for these great videos! They really are just fabulous. And I love this quilting stitch! But I've had a terrible time achieving consistency on an actual quilt. It worked fine in practice on 4 layers of fabric, but it's been really horrible on the quilt. The tension is all over the place, the stitches bunch up or disappear; it's just awful. It works great for a row or two, and then just goes wonky and looks truly awful. I've tried rethreading, changing bobbins, changing to heavier needles, but nothing worked and now the quilt is pretty much ruined. Any idea what's wrong? I can't seem to find any forum that discusses troubleshooting this stitch. :(
Hi Fred! Glad you like my videos. Sorry for you frustration with the quilting stitch. Have you tried using a walking foot while using this stitch? That may help feed the fabric more evenly and give you a more consistent stitch.
***** Thanks for your help. I did try that, but no luck. Maybe this machine is just not suitable for heavier quilts, I don't know. I've only ever quilted small, light pieces by machine, so very little experience with it. It seems to help somewhat if I "pull" the fabric through with a fair amount of pressure, but it doesn't really solve the problem. Just makes it a little bit better. I'd take off the cover plate and check to see if there's a thread or something underneath, but the screwdriver handle is too long to get it down into the screws. It's the only other thing I can think to do. I hate it when I can't figure out how to fix a problem. Great videos though! They've been a world of help! :)
HypnosisFred Sorry the walking foot wasn't of much help, but I thought it would be worth it to try to mention it. If the machine had adjustable pressure, I think that would really help with heavier projects.
Roxanne, I have watched several of your videos and you do a great job, but it is so hard to watch because they are blurry. Please check your focus in future videos, I would like to see more detail of what you are doing. Thank you for the videos.
Ho Carol. Can you give me a little more info about what you're doing and what's happening? It could be a variety of things. A piece of thread stuck in the threading path, foot pedal not plugged in, presser foot not down when stitching?
I know question was posted many yrs ago, but perhaps this will help someone else. Re thread machine and needle check needle sz and condition, is bobbin area clean? Did you thread machine with presser foot down (correct way)? Threading machine with presser foot up can cause nesting. Watch some videos about tension problems if still having nesting.
JoJo Sewist this helped me somewhat as a current person still experiencing nesting. I’m sewing a quilt and the first half of the project went just fine but now for some reason I cannot get the underside to match the top I’ve tried adjusting the tension. I’ve retreaded more then I can count I’ve cleaned the lint my last resort I assume would be to change my needle I just don’t know when it’s time for a new one for this is my first time using a machine and owning one I’ve always done hand sewing I’ve read my manual I’ve called customer support

Watching your videos on 2020. Thanks!
Hi Nicolas. Glad you like them!
Thank you for your veey helpful videos! Much better than any manual
Glad it was helpful!
thanks Roxanne. Now I have greater faith in trying to get that quilting bar in that little hole!
August 2021. Thank you so much for this video and your other videos. Learning so much from you! probably would have returned this machine without seeing videos.

Thank you again Roxanne. I will be trying this tonight, and show the results when finished.

thanks for showing love it ..
Thank you great video. Trying to make a decision about buying this Singer model.
I love the look of these stitches on the front but what are they suppose to look like on the back.
Thank you for your helpful videos!!
OH!! That’s where it goes
Not sure what you're referring too, but glad this video helped.
Thanks for your awesome demo's!
Will this machine make a gathering stitch and if so will you do a demo please?
Great idea Pamela! Thanks.
exceptional video. I am looking at getting this for medieval costumes and occasional light upholstery work. pretty impressed so far. any comment on suitability for medium thickness vinyl? the kind of stuff you find on gym equipment...
How did you raise the presser foot higher than its default height? I watched twice but couldn't see. Thanks!
Hi Beth. Just lift it up a bit higher. It won't stay there on it's own, but lifting it gives a little more room under the presser foot.
Thank you for all your hard work on the tutorial videos for the 9960! They have been very helpful as the manual is very basic. The 9960 come with a binding foot, could you show how to use this accessory? I am new to quilting and my binding is a bit to be desired :)!
Hi apacheco51! Yes I will be getting to that foot specifically since there has been lot's of interest. Thanks for watching!
The video for using the Adjustable Binding Foot is ready. Video Part 13. Check it out. It's a great foot and easy to use.

I just bought a quarter inch presser foot today. I know this video is from 8 years ago, but can someone tell me if I will need to change the needle to a quilting needle?
Use the proper needle for you fabrication. The presser foot has nothing to do with using the proper needle.

Hi Roxanne, thank you for your videos about Singer 9960,

Hi Lori! No, the quilting bar can't be used with the walking foot that came with the 9960. That can be purchased separately. amzn.to/36oHg6I

From what I’m seeing, you can’t use this foot piecing quilts using an1/4” seam allowances. Am I correct?
Hi Linda. Sure you can, but there are many 1/4" presser feet available if you don't like this one. Many people like this one: amzn.to/323btoF

I'm sorry Sharae, I just don't understand your question.
Can this stitch be used with free motion embroidery foot ?
No
@@RoxanneStitches Is there any other stitches we can use with darning foot other than straight stitch?
Yes, the zig zag.

Hi. Is it possible to use the quilting bar with the walking foot that came with the Singer 9960?
Hi Jamie. Unfortunately no it's not. Many owners in my group have purchased another walking foot that will accommodate the quilting bar.
I will try to rethread and see i that helps. I was sewing and I had to refill my bobbin and when I went back to sewing it started beeping
You can also shut the machine off and reset it to see if that helps.
Thanks for these great videos! They really are just fabulous.

***** What's really weird is that the stitch looks great on the back. Just not on the front. Go figure.
Just curious? Did you turn the upper thread tension all the way to it's max? Very weird how it looks good on the under side but not the top?
Do you drop your feet dog on this quilting
Hi Gloria, not for quilting. Use the walking foot.
Aren’t you supposed to use a walking foot when quilting? I’m a newbie, confused.
Hi Jan. Yes, you can.
Thank you
I'm confused why everyone says you should only use the walking foot for quilting the patchwork to the filling, since It doesn't allow any guides.
HI Jan. You can use the walking foot for many things not just quilting. It's a great foot.
Thank you!!!!
Roxanne, I have watched several of your videos and you do a great job, but it is so hard to watch because they are blurry. Please check your focus in future videos, I would like to see more detail of what you are doing. Thank you for the videos.
