    I bought this machine several years ago and would absolutely recommend it for a starter machine, or one to take to classes or retreats. It has every stitch you’d need and makes an easy, fabulous buttonhole.

      Totally agree! The 9960 is so user friendly with lots of great features to learn and grow with. My favorite feature is the buttonholes also. They sew from the top down, whereas most other machines sew from the bottom up. Makes it easier to go from one to the next by just sliding down. Happy sewing.

    I’ve watched all your videos and I appreciate each and every one! You’ve certainly taught us all about our machines.
    I do have a question, though. Yesterday, my machine stopped sewing in reverse. I cleaned the dust out (it was a bit dusty, but not terrible). Do you have any advice on what to check? I’m in the middle of Christmas sewing and this has been a nightmare. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

    Thanks for the great videos. Very informative! My problem: Not only does the bobbin thread not cut, but the thread loops around the cutting mechanism & I have to take off the throat plate each time to get the stuck threads out. This issue began right after I broke a needle. I replaced it w another Singer needle, but saw tons of dust build-up, so I cleaned the dust from under the throat plate using canned air (which I now know is no-no). That was the one & only time I used canned air, though, & the cutter stopped working right after that. I followed all the steps in your cutter troubleshooting video & reassembled my machine w/o any problems, but still have the same issue. This is the only issue I'm having w my machine. It still sews beautifully. Any suggestions before I have to send it for repair? Like most of your other subscribers, this is one of my favorite functions of this machine. Thanks again for all your great videos!

      Hi Karen. There is a point around the 12:00 min mark that is crucial. If those small pieces aren't reassembled correctly, the cutter still won't work. HTH

    First let me say, thks for the tutorial .
    I recently purchased the Quantum 9960 machine mainly for buttonholes.
    So yesterday I set it up and started using today….it was working perfectly but then the bobbin started giving issues such as , not able to pull it up, it won’t go forward when stitching….instead it stay in one spot, which makes the thread boodle up etc…
    Help, help, help…..

    For some reason my bobbin thread has begun to catch on the cutting mechanism while I am sewing. It sews along just fine until I stop and try to use the cutter and then I can see the threads where they are caught. I watched your video showing how to replace the cutter just to become familiar with its parts. The thread is catching between the cutter case and the 'u' shaped case that envelopes the cutter case. Needless to say the cutter will not work when this happens, and I must remove the plate and bobbin and reach in with tweezers to remove the caught threads. I'm at a loss as to what to do, because I'm not sure that I would know what to do if I went through the process of taking the case apart and accessing the cutter box mechanism. Everything looks fine and I can't see how the bobbin thread is being pulled in. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!

    Roxanne!!!!! Thx for your videos - but I have a problem I cannot find an answer to!!! My thread cutter works/cuts great, BUT it cuts the thread and leaves WAY too short of a tail!! So, when you begin to sew and the needles goes up, the thread comes right out of the eye! DRIVING ME NUTS!!! I actually watched a tech change that length of thread before, but can't remember what he did exactly - but I do remember is was rather simple. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

    • @RoxanneStitches
      @RoxanneStitches  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Linda! I've heard of this problem before but have not been unable to recreate it myself. I have a couple of ideas for you to check out: Check to make sure you're upper thread isn't too restricted. If it is, that could be causing your thread to spring back when you use the auto cutter. Also check the little brush that's attached to your bobbin casing. That brush stages the bobbin thread for the auto cutter so if that's out of place or damaged it may cause trouble. Hope this helps.

      Hi Lori. You have knocked your feed dogs off their resting post that allows them to function properly. Gently raise them and place them back on the post. That should solve this problem. If not, the post may be broken which will require service.

      Hi Marina. Sounds like there may be something wrong. Best to take it to a technician and have it checked out.
