Just completed my brushless build ended up going with the python and the Cedar motor. Based on your recommendations. Absolutely love this set up. NO YOU DO NOT NEED A NEW RADIO! I got a traxxas micro TQ reciever and bound it to the control that came with the truck. It works with the furitek komodo brushless speed controller and motor. It would also work with any aftermarket brushless setup. It powers the lights as well. You do need a new speed controller with an aftermarket brushless motor. Works great! It also fits the small space of the stock reciever.
Furitek has a beautiful design philosphy and aesthetic. Instantly able to tell if something is made from them and it performs just as good if not better than the already amazing designs.
Could you use a traxxas tqi receiver with this esc? I know it doesnt really make sense but i have a few traxxas cars and like to use the same transmitter for all of them

It depends on the reciever. For my brushless furitek komodo I bought a Traxxas TQ micro reciever and bound it to the control that came with the truck. It powers the lights and the new brushless motor. Just remember you have to get a speed controller if you go brushless. It plugs right into the Traxxas TQ micro receiver. This reciever also fits well where the stock reciever went.
I could not find the transmission only option. My bro got me Lizard Pro w/ Komodo and I’m gonna have to buy a motor/trans combo to get the transmission - unless there’s the option to buy a transmission by itself? Thanks

They did and then they changed their mind when the entire rc community backlashes against them. To save face they made their demands more clear and told everyone how to advertise parts correctly designed for their products

Have you heard of Dinky RC? Hands down best esc on the market for brushed and Brushless 1/24 (2 ESCs) and 1/10 brushless.

Furitek should make a all in one motor/ esc combo like hobbywing has been doing with the quicrun fusion FOC.

If you upgrade this esc, you loose the ability to run your traxxas lights? The ones that are optional that have running lights and 4 ways?

You can buy any transmission you want for it. You do need a Komodo motor mount, but that will mate to any transmission.
