Front fogs look great, a nod to the 987.2. that said, the 987 is beginning to look "classic" and 987 owners are about to benefit from the change in appreciation, from "old" to "classic". Mods that try to make it look "modern" may go against that. I'm keeping my 987.2 in the classic realm... But, to each his own.
Nice job….on my 2010 Boxster I did rear lights with “Spyder” style, side markers in smoke, complete clutch system, full SOUL headers and cat backs, Bilstein struts, Numerics shifter and cables, and a few other odds and ends. Agree it really freshens the look, performance and sound courtesy of SOUL. At 138k miles, figure I am not even half way through the service life of my “friend.”
@@ScottFentonfullbe6 I love the Numerics shifter and cables. Shifts are firm, crisp and definitive. I shopped for a new shift knob, but the one I wanted from Flat Six motors is no longer in production. I expect the extra weight would have more inertia but once started the momentum would speed up the shift. Let me know if you go that route. Next brake job I intend to install a GT3 master cylinder and Goodridge steel brake lines.
This is great. Hope you pick up a lot more subscribers and really get going with your channel. Good luck 🤞 I think the 987 starts off modern enough to be 'modernised' further with obviously great results. Whereas the 986 benefits from going the other way and aiming for as classic/original a look as possible. Interesting isn't it?!
hey quick tipp for the next video: set your mic to mono instead of stereo so the video is more enjoyable and we can hear u on both of our ears :) GREAT Video btw 👍
Nice job I think it looks nice I have a 2000 Boxster in blue but I always wanted silver I don’t know if I’m gonna update all the lights I kind of like the old look Friday eggs at allPS I love those wheels but I have the silver ones but I would’ve thought awesome to get those black with the silver rings they remind me of the Fuchs
Thanks for watching! The alloys are actually a Porsche upgrade and not aftermarket at all! As for the fried egg lights... Honestly I can't say I am a fan of them haha!!!!
I agree with you, mostly - my triple black 2002 S has (NOS) clear lights all round, 2002 BBS 911 mags in silver, a glass-windowed roof, and really the only modern day item is a new Alpine sound system with screen, subwoofer and speakers. The IMS replaced when the clutch was done at 90K kms. That's as far as modernising I want to go. The soul of the original 2002 986S remains. It is not trying to be a 2024 car.
Previous owner already had the tail lights installed, as for the smoked side markers you can find great ones on ebay for around £50 and they are simply plug in as shown in the video!
How did they fit a new IMS bearing? Post 05/06 this car should have the larger 'for life' IMS fitted that cant be extracted unless you split the cases as its too big to be extracted externally?
I like roxymusic! ! I'm keeping my 2006 boxster s completely stock! Except the stickers inside hood and trunk! Grateful dead, UH, state flag etc. Aloha from westside Oahu Hawaii! Top down, year round!
@@MK-su6eg That's nice to know. Hope your weather's more conducive to top-down driving than here in the chilly, grey, and wet UK springtime. You've probably found the best location for most stickers, too: mine mostly cover scratches and dings !
Interesting. I've just been handed the old IMS bearing out of my 2001 986 S. After 133k miles and half a dozen owners, this (English- made) NSK bearing is more than serviceable. In over twenty years, the garage owner reckons that he's seen very few failures. Something around 5% seems about right. But, then again - which 5% ?
Rear main seal? Yes, commonly done if you are replacing the clutch and flywheel (DMF). I changed mine out at 115k miles even though the original one was serviceable.
It looks like there will be significant changes on the 2025 model. There have been some photos where most of the camouflage has been removed and the front bumper, the headlights, and the tail lights look quite a bit different.
