Just Started my loc journey, doing some research on “ locs” on TH-cam and your videos is the first that’s pops up on my timeline. Realize this is one of my favorite english teacher back in high school. Thank you Mrs dae, your videos are very informative and helpful. I can’t wait to see the result of my locs journey. 🥰
I just trimmed my locs about 2 weeks ago for the first time after 3 years. I had a lot of dangling or skimpy ends that were just getting on my nerves, so I cut them off. My hair might look a tiny bit shorter in some spots, but I love the healthier look. I feel the same as you, that they’ll grow back. 🤷🏽♀️
I’ve started trimming those loose ends too and it’s great, you don’t even notice it’s gone really and it grows right back healthy. It’s sometimes scary when you end up cutting my a inch plus after being in a stage where watching growth was so important but after awhile when you know you’re gonna keep your locs for while cutting becomes way easier
Nicely said, I just just trimmed mine, never had hair that almost reached my back so it was kinda hard to let go but then I reminded myself I plan to be in this loc journey for life so at God’s willing, I’ll be back at my length in no time (it was probably like 3 years off growth trimmed)
Yes , your locs will continue to grow and get long ! Those little pieces u trim off won’t even matter once they get down to ur ankles 😂, but I personally think it gives ur hair character. I’ve lost a few soldiers but I think it looks just fine , when there waste line length I plan on cutting them into a bob, I’m enjoying the growth for now ❤ thanks for the video
Thanks for sharing this. I've had so much of this happen and couldn't understand why. I colored my hair, the tips, early on in the journey and this totally makes sense. I've been taking the same approach tho. Just cut them off and move on. I find it to be easier to deal with and a practice in letting go. Good to see this is actually a thing that can happen.
I’ll be 3 years loc’d next year and I haven’t had to prune my locs but if I have to I think I’d have a similar mindset of just cutting it off to get ahead of the problem. Even prior to locs I was that way with my loose natural hair I’d snip a raggedy end quick lol
I created soft spots in some of my daughters locs from using tweezers to take out the lint. Definitely learned my lesson with that. I can tell if one is coming off because of how loose moving it is in a certain spot. Similar to where you showed your loc hanging right before you cut it.
It probably is the oil that’s attracting lint that gets embedded in the loc. I don’t use it anymore for that reason. I just grease my scalp and bring it down the hair shaft. Washing more frequently also helps.✌🏽
I trim my locs all the time. I recently went trim crazy, and trimmed as much as 8 inches off. The last thing I want is a piece of hair falling off when I thought I was looking cute 😩😂😂😂
I trim my locks about every 3 months. I started with two strand twist, two years ago. I can tell when its time for a trim because the ends grow out thinner than the rest of my dreads.
I’m reaching 4y in May and I’ve trimmed a lot off since. Right now a lot of them have interlocked at the root on their own, which I’m ok with bc they seemed like they were thin and needed more strength cause my locs are getting long. It now I have so many that I eventually will need to trim. I just don’t know how long I should wait. I should prob get an interlocking tool and interlock as much as I can and then trim the rest off.
Are you concerned with your locs being several different lengths? Or how it will look down the line? Also would you ever cut them even (or evenly layered) down the line? Or just plan to let them do them? Much love 💕
I’ve noticed that my hair is now growing thicker from the roots thus my ends appear thinner so some of them I’m starting to snip away . I don’t like the uneven appearance but those in ends don’t look good to me.
Ouch 😬✂️ on locs just makes me cringe...I guess cause it takes my locs so long to grow ...I braid , crochet ,wrap..lol😂 whatever it take to keep my locs . I commend u ladies that don't care and don't mind cutting.." it's just hair" types..I figure that would keep the stress down. Your hair is still lovely ,but no cutting / trimming for me . Thanks 🎉
I think I cut mine to short I ain’t touch root but my nut cut off like 4 inches still past my ears but way above my chin now. Plz tell me they gon grow back
For me it's just hair...it'll grow back!!! 🥰The ends are the oldest part of the hair anyway. Healthy locs first!
Sometimes hair doesn’t grow back for many reasons. It’s best not to take nothing for granted.✌🏽
@@blu_rey8656 True... I'm good with that too. I once had a Caesar! Cut it all off! 😂🤣 Everyone has her own look! Own it! ❤️
@@blu_rey8656rarely does it not grow back
@@blu_rey8656 exactly
FYI. Hair does not always grow back or how it was initially for everyone; that’s why I don’t take it for granted.

I agree with you. It’s natural for hair to shed, so I am comfortable with letting it go.

Yes I want to eventually have a bob

Great video. It was good to see you trim that loc, it needed it in my opinion. Girl get to it with the other one!😊
It’s coming next! Lol thank you I

this happened to me too lol. Thankfully it was closer to the ends in my case haha

I have never trimmed my locs ever in my life. If one falls off, then it is what it is. It will grow back.

Do you leave the end as is when you cut the Locc end ?
Thx u for this tutorial 😍
Your Loc's are lookin great

I’m not really concerned at all about the different lengths. I try to just let them be.
