I have lived my entire life in fear…I was told that the end was coming in 1975, so I needed to get baptized and make the truth my own, otherwise I would lose my life at Armageddon. As a child in fear…I did as I was told. And life became more miserable from then on, as the org puts their claws into you…dragging you down. I can honestly say the meetings were boring, and the conventions were unbearable for me. My biggest regret is not leaving sooner, b/c of the permanent scars myself and my children now have. Fear has always been the controlling factor in the org. That will not change in my lifetime.

Yeah - I was around in 1975 also and I understand the fear box. The slimy con artists were good keeping people in fear, replacing everlasting burning hell with an everlasting death. It took me a long time to stop thinking in JW doctrine. Remember the phrase "where will we go"? It is a difficult pill to swallow that there is no truth. If all we get a a few years of life I would have rather not being born just to live in misery. I did get a care free life away from religion but the scars still were there.

My faith in God and Christ is not based on dates and fear, it's based on a way of life. However, many sects of christianity like the JWs and catholic church etc, base their money making endeavours on fear mongering like armageddon and hellfire to control their converts. But does the bible not prophesize this apostasy and santanic deception?

It's more than that though. There is a larger cost with leaving the JW cult as opposed to leaving the Catholic faith for instance.
I would rank leaving Islam as having the highest cost, but leaving the JW org has a higher cost than most other forms of Christianity.

Man I'm grateful to hear your logical, sound, critical thinking, balanced and reasonable voice today Lloyd! Apparently there was a part last night about 'listening to the voice of strangers'. My co-work gave it and comes in presenting total non-sense, hypocrisy, contradictions, logic defying points, scriptures and common sense taken totally out of context... I've given up remotely trying to help people. If they are too stupid and try to argue with logic then there is literally no point in helping them.

Many die-hard JWs will often say: well, even if it's not true I'll still continue in the faith because it's a better way of life than not being part of it. In other words, I will not even bother finding out for myself if it really is the truth - I'm too comfortable in my current way of lfe.

They say that, as did I, until realizing the denial involved in that statement. The lifestyle it provides is, rather, anxiety ridden and packed with expectations that few can meet. Yes, it provides community & purpose and that I miss, but not at the stake of ones inner mental wellbeing.

... and of course it's their right to choose to stay in the cult if that's what they want. I don't try and force anyone in the religion to look at the facts. As far as I'm concerned there are too many wonderful people like Lloyd and ex witnesses who are bravely telling the entire world their experiences, that if they want to find out what's really going on in JW World, they can put their big boy/girl pants and do their own investigation. It's never been easier.

Thank you for your support for others with doing this video!
I was in the organisation for over 30 years. I was a regular pioneer for 10 of those years.
I wasn’t born in , I was contacted on the doors in 1987 I’m now in my 60s and I finally left the Org in 2922.
The Convid and the experimental health product was what woke me up.
I then started investigating and found out about the UN and The false prophecies, then the Australian Royal Commission and I was out.’
I also have a TH-cam channel .. just a month in I’ve been amazed that people started watching my videos.
You give very wise advice , and although I still believe unlike you, I value your channel and your courage to do what you do and live the way you choose and are happy and are supportive of all.’

November 2013 to April 2024 .... and STILL the end has not come. I was told in 1989 by an alleged annointed (pfft - if he was anointed, I'm Marilyn Monroe!) that Armageddon wasn't just coming down the garden path, it had stepped up onto the verandah and was beating on the door. That's how close it apparently was. THIRTY FIVE YEARS ago.

Great video, Lloyd! I love the idea of revisiting the basics. I've been out a long time, but it's basic concepts such as the one discussed here that really keeps me sane. I believe that there are universal truths, and certain scriptures seem to support that belief, at least for me. Wow, Lloyd, this is certainly (the reupload of) one of the most important videos of your channel. It goes directly to the core of the problem. Also, 2 short comments: 1) YOUR VOICE!! It's incredible how your voice changed through the years. Went from almost a tenor to a baritone. I'm no phoniatrist, but this means your vocal chords are RELAXED now! Fantastic! This now is your REAL voice! 2) Fear nowadays is driven also by stress: keeping someone under pressure to be "good" always, to work a lot or to be busy (pioneering...), to stay living paycheck to paycheck (financial stress) is the fastest way to facilitate fear, which then in turn drives submission and/or anger (which is the path to the dark side etc etc 😂, Yoda said it all!). Hence, populists, as well as cults, like to work with the emotion of urgency - the world will end tomorrow (or Europe is going under thanks to immigrants, whatever motive floats their boat). The moment someone understands the impact of stress and fear, their life changes completely, and they're free.

Thanks Lloyd for your clear reasoning. It’s so refreshing to listen to the pace in how you build up your arguments. About the unfulfilled prophecies and new insights thanks to new light. A Dutch TV presenter Lucille Werner raised as a Catholic once’s said in a program named“Adieu God” (Goodbye God). If I would go to heaven, I want to work at God’s communication department. It clearly needs some improvement. Why is God not able to explain a message clearly when it’s so fundamentally important for so many people in their time of need. I’m 47 and baptized at the age of 12. And dissociate myself in 2011. So I didn’t get to see all the video broadcasts when I was still in. But thanks to your channel and that from Caleb I get to see some of them. They making it so clear to me the GB treat their followers as children. For me that are almost funny to watch. But knowing how their messages ruin so many peoples lives is heartbreaking.

The Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses may not claim to be prophets, but it would seem that they expect their followers to treat them as if they were a type of infallible prophet. What is weird, is in my personal experience, there were SO many discussions 'off record' around various topics that the org/GB would discourage. I happened to be closer with brothers than sisters (so many were very catty w/each other). The discussions had were deep, even profound. But these discussions were NEVER open with the general cult population. Very hush hush. Topics included the whys or hows or ifs of some of the writings or workings of Earth & Universe. Often times these discussions were held at large cong gatherings i.e. picnics or parties. Sadly, these talks were never shared or went beyond that--just talks in hiding. They were private questionings of GB, or teachings. We even had some of these talks out in service...a few times I'd be the only sister in the vehicle and the talks were much different than what sisters had. People were to afraid, ashamed or whatever to let their thoughts be known outside these little groups. Sad really. Some really beautiful talks were had. Closet questioners never heard.

I have watched you, since the earliest start of your mission to help JW's challenge their beliefs.
You have had some hiccups in your journey.
    But nobody is perfect.
My father is 94 yrs old now, and was an Elder for many years.
    He has now woken up.
He told me, that the Governing Body has lost its way. And that he " could have been a millionaire " if he didn't believe these men. It is sad to say that he regrets most of his life.
He got into the religion at the age of 15.
Now he tells me that , he was wrong in bringing us kids up " in the truth".
    He still believes in God.
But says you don't have to go through men to get to God.
He told me not to worry that I left the religion.
    He understands why I did.
I love him so much. And he has the guts to say " I was wrong ".

Hi Lloyd. It may have been me you are referring to in the video. I left you a message on your Patreon page back in Oct of 2023:
"Lloyd, if I might make a suggestion with your channel as you move forward with the recent changes. I woke up to this religion years ago and your material from 5-8 years ago I need to give credit to. I know you dont like rehashing material that you have gone through already in the past. Why not repost some of your older material. Maybe add a few minutes of your commentary as you introduce the older video. Your old stuff is pure gold. My guess is it doesnt get too many views. Debunking new light comes to mind, your review of Splanes generation teaching, reviewing older books, there are so many I could come up with. Just a thought. Hope you are doing well and look forward to your next video."

I was surprised that Lloyd did not mention this from the April 1st, 1972 Watchtower page 197 as quoted: "...This prophet was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students." which supports the point that yes, Jehovah's Witnesses did indeed claim to be prophets. It doesn't get any more clear:

Excellent idea about returning to the core issue; namely, whether the doctrines of JWs are true or false. I miss the depth of research and critical examination of specific topics that made up the subtance of your early podcasts. Now with the changes made by the governing body it is more important than ever to highlight the fundamental errors that always have been found in the religion. The GB is in the process of "mainstreaming" the religion, making it seem more tolerable and a "kinder, more gentle" organization. But it essentially remains an authoritative and totalitarian cult. Brothers with or without beards or sisters wearing pants or skirts is not the primary point. Rather, is what it teaches correct? In your early podcasts you provided the facts and exposed its falsehood. So happy seeing you return to your roots.

A bit late watching the program, my wife is still a bit unsure of the GB but she does admit they are false prophets, one with CO's Elder's Helpers who follow the 9 fakes in NY! Mathew 24:4&5 a enter version of false prophets Wolf's in Sheep's clothing. But also makes the point not to fear them. Your research is pretty solid as I have been watching for over a year now. So much has happened in JW World, a God who never changes, sure changes a lot! 😮 I notice that over the last year and a half the hare speech 💬 has definitely picked up against Apostates yet we never read that Jesus was that way. Usually their introduction to the talks they give is misleading, deliberately misleading. BITE Model Authoritarian Control over the sheep is getting more desperate by the GB and their Helpers to control what the sheep will listen to. Almost to the point they take a Hitler Style form of speech. I do enjoy your research is excellent! Thank you!

Even if they don’t say “we are prophets” does a group have to go around saying “we are prophets” for them to be false prophets? They merely have to do the things false prophets do.
Nor do they have to claim inspiration. Almost by definition, someone who prophesies things but they fail, isn’t an inspirer prophet. All false prophets aren’t inspired.

The Watch Tower Society, I feel, fails to realize that the end of the world predictions they made in the past had an effect on people's lives. The dictates they make when it comes to their prescribed doctrines and rituals in today's world has an effect on people's lives. For whatever reason, they don't seem to take this into consideration. For example, when the 1975 prediction for Armageddon didn't come to pass, the Society basically said that they were separating the true believers from the unbelievers essentially -- that those people who left the JW Organization out of disappointment were "unbelievers". Well, where did they get the idea that that the current world system was going to end in 1975? Those who sacrificed everything to promote your message, even if apostates today feel that the apostates then who put so much trust in your claims had misplaced that trust, that took some gumption for them to try and promote your apocalyptic message -- even if we apostates today find it disagreeable. To suggest that these people didn't believe in the Witness faith at all is really insulting.
This wasn't some conspiracy theory that the laity just made up and ran with. Who inspired them to accept this as a valid idea? To say that you don't owe people any apology for taking your predictions on Biblical prophecy seriously and for feeling disappointed when they don't come true -- well, I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you on that, Governing Body members.

Hi Moshi! Agnostic atheism is pretty common actually. The first word deals with knowledge (nobody can know whether there is or is not a god). The second word deals with belief. I’m unconvinced by the claims of any theists, therefore I have no religious belief, therefore I am an atheist. 🙂

@@LloydEvans ok so God may or may not exist. But you can't confirm any religious beliefs as of now that makes you believe in religions? Is that right?
What if a miracle happen to you when you don't have any religious beliefs? Which is possible to show you that God exists outside any affiliation to any religious beliefs. I'm Catholic but I don't believe that the old testament is anything but stories because of the oral tradition and the “games of telephone” that I've told about before if you remember.
I'm not trying to be a ass I'm trying to figure you out. Definitely the JWs is a cult and a false profit.
Anyway with that said and to get back to the original point did I get that correct?

    • @LloydEvans
      @LloydEvans  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Correct pretty much. It really would depend on the miracle. For example, I’ve recently taken mushrooms and had two conversations with “God” but in the absence of corroborating evidence I have to assume this was just my brain chemistry responding to the psilocybin in the mushrooms. So-called “miracles” happen all the time but so do tragedies. To attribute every happy coincidence to an interventionist God while ignoring the bad stuff seems at best short sighted and at worst arrogant, especially if one insists God has assisted them in some way while simultaneously letting others die and suffer.

However, have you ever considered Christianity - and by that I mean simple, non-denominational Christianity, such as is found, for instance, in Calvary Chapels or other non-denominational Churches? Give it a try. There really is a God, and a Jesus, the Word of God made flesh, who really does love you, and He's a lot different than the fake Watchtower Jesus.

*"A plethora of religions exist therefore they must all be false, and that makes your atheist materialist belief true by default?"*
No, it would probably be more the case that Lloyd and I don't feel we have any good reason to believe that the claims of any religion are true. Speaking for myself, even if any religion were true, that doesn't mean that I would necessarily join that religion. I could still have ethical issues with the religion's theological, moral, cultural and ritual demands.
