Wow! I was starting to get tired of watching various acrylic pours on You Tube until this video! Gorgeous! That is what I call an acrylic pour! Beautiful! Excellent!
It has depth to it and that's seems to be rare with most pours. This one is different and it seems as if I should see fish or a seal down in the arctic water. This was a year ago and I'm just now seeing it.
Wow, I think that this is one of the paintings that I looked and said "WOW"! That blue with the white looked like the arctic deep blue and ice chunks. The white looked like a snow and ice flow, mercy that is pretty. I've never even priced one of the paintings that I watch but this one knocked it out. Love it.
Gina, I know you've herd this a thousand times but I have learned so much from you. Thank you for explaining the reason for the use of transparent paint and it effects when pouring. I've seen every one of your videos and I take notes on my Mac, stopping and starting your video as I type in what you are doing and saying. I'm trying so hard to get a painting that I like and so far it has not happened, but I haven't given up. I have made a significant dent in my financial situation to get this going and refuse to spend $$ on high quality paint until I have had one or two successful paintings that I like. Thanks for your continued instruction and continue please to tell us the paints you use. That is so helpful. It is hard for me to understand how your style/tecinique with the thickness of your paint compared to those who go thicker (Sarah Mack & Mina Villegas) yet you get very similar results so it is confusing to me. I'm 67 and don't use modern lingo too often but I think you rock! That's likely old by now. Heck I've got 5 grandchildren with one who will soon turn 20! I'm also disabled (a motorcycle accident 20 years ago) so this is something I can do while sitting for most of it. I can stand but not for long. Thanks again!
Regarding inexpensive paint...you get what you pay for. Some craft paints can do some cool things, but in the end, folk art and Apple barrel aren’t cheaper than michaels artists loft brand, or Liquitex for that matter. The craft bottles are mostly water. I had figured out the math once and it was significantly cheaper to get the tube paints. Craft paints you can only mix 1:1 with pm. I think Sarah Mack does a 1:6 ratio. One of those little bottles will make 4 oz of paint. A 4 oz tube can make 26 oz of using Sarah’s ratio. They cost about the same if on sale. Just food for thought. 😉
@@GinaDeLuca Gina, Thanks. I figured that out. I am spending more on paints, generally Liquitex, Ateza, and some Master's Touch. It's hard for me to get out so on line is a big plus. I just can't do Golden or other artist grade expensive paints but dang. Arteza ain't cheap. I've discovered Dick Blick and Jerry's Artarama. Artist Loft have so many paints that are not available on line though some are. The only DecoArt I buy now is the 24 K gold extreme sheen and their satin enamel. I'll keep at it and for sure the Art Deco and Folk Art of in the sack with receipt ready to be returned. I've been through a lot of Floetrol for sure and it used for higher end paints. Not good enough to sink in $$$ for Golden or more expensive. I have not been able to pull off Dutch Pours yet. I've had one such success but with colors I didn't care for in the end. I 'll continue to watch your tutorials and experiments but I have a lot of paint if this doesn't work out. There may be some deals to be had if I quit.
