I was born in Saigon Vietnam 67 years ago, immigrated to the US with my family when I was 17, now returning to VN as a retired software engineer, been living in HCMC for almost a year with my 26 yo bf (we're Gay Viet Couple btw) and plan to travel together throughout VN along the coastline, updating with pictures every day on our fb, TikTok and Instagram.
Being lgbt in Vietnam is more tolerable because of nearby countries influences like the Philippines and their acceptance with being gay or Thailand and their lady boi. Viet words for it is bong' or be de Haters will joke about it but its all harmless. They say the closer you are to the gay acceptance community, the more liberal you are about them. I lived near san Francisco so we don't even care if gay people show their public display of affection with one another in public. We are over it and we are so used to it. On the side note, i do have viet Canadian friends and co workers and they do tend to talk fast and a lot like this guy here. They make good customer service or sales people though.
@@thumtlnguyen3626 I'll assume again. You know or see any gay in Viet Hollywood? I'll start with tuan anh, Don Ho. Hatred for the alphabet groups are usually a religious thing. Vietnam is not a religious country.
Very fun watch! I'm also hybrid but slightly different. Having been born in Hanoi and spent my first 12years there before moving overseas, I don't consider myself Viet kieu cuz I understand the Vietnamese culture and the language...or so I thought lol Not getting enough practice and learning the new slangs makes it very obvious to the locals that I'm same same but different 😂 I've made some great Tinder friends in VN over the years, and I've also been on dates where I felt like they just wanted to practice English lol
Interesting. So, if a heterosexual Viet Kieu celebrated his or her love of the opposite sex, that would be a little weird and pervy. But being gay today is not pervy, but cool. Nothing wrong with that right?
@borat707 how exactly does one "celebrate" their love a certain sex? what does that look like? and why is it bad? how did the guy in the video do this bad thing? when? where?

Argument explaining LGBT is tolerated in VIetnam due to influences from Philippines and Thailand are baseless, totally assuming.
