WOW! What an immediate impact the trees make towards looking like a cohesive park-like setting! Beautiful! How wonderful that you are realizing your dreams every day.

The drone footage of the trees makes you think you’re driving to a huge mansion. I just love everything you’re doing to the property. The harvest was huge and I believe that alkaline soil helps with the production of your flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Everything is just lovely. Thank you for your inspiration and for sharing your journey!❤️❤️❤️

Florist here :) You can spray it with hairspray! Recommend some cheap aerosol like Aquanet... it works great on pampas grass as well for all the little fly aways. The amaranth will crumble a little bit, but overall should be fine. Can't wait to see the completed projects (and brick patio by the kitchen door ;) )

    • @themamabearlife3339
      @themamabearlife3339 ปีที่แล้ว +15

Agree! I used to be a Florist too, & we dried a lot of flowers. Hairspray was what we used too. Also, we used rubber bands instead of wire when bundling & hanging the flowers. Because the rubber bands are flexible & will shrink with the flowers as they dry up.

You give all of us so much to anticipate and the information on all the new garden plants is priceless and very helpful. The trees are definitely Aaron’s “Babies”! They have the placing and planting process down to a science. Love to see his and your dream take shape. BTW our green peppers have never been so prolific this year in Illinois. So great!

YES, YES, AND YES!!!! I love it when Aaron puts up the drone and films everything! The arial view of the new trees from above gives the true picture of the plan and I DO love it. 10 years down the road you will be thrilled with how it looks I’m certain. Would it possibly be a helpful idea to put a tarp underneath that amaranth to catch whatever falls? Cleanup would be so much easier. The produce is amazing, beautiful, and I am thrilled you chose to give so much away 😊!!

What a harvest! Are you concerned at all about the tree roots disrupting the water lines as the tree matures? Can’t wait to see all the fall color! PS - Aaron, I spoke to you at the Grand Garden Show about adding additional member badges beyond 24 months. Please don’t forget.😊

I also flinched when I saw how close the tree was to water lines. In my area maple tree roots spread far, grow big and can be quite damaging. I wonder if they grow differently in their area. Only time will tell I guess. But the view is AMAZING! Great job! So inspiring!

Love everything in today's video. I for one, would love to see the pepper/tomato prep. I am loving seeing the harvesting, etc. Makes me think of my granddaddy....he was the ultimate gardener in the family. And the rest....watching my grandmama and Mama put things up, plus the time I spent with mama in her kitchen canning etc and with my grandmama on her front porch shelling. I have such great memories of that front porch and her.....eating watermelon, shelling things, even watching her churn butter, esp me as a really small thing trying to manipulate that churn, which was about as big as me lol. Boy, I didn't mean to write a book but the beautiful memories just flooded me today watching you harvest and talk about what you were going to do with it.
One tip, or maybe you already do this, I have, when I've had more than I can use soon, chopped onions and bell peppers up, bagged them and frozen them that way....like you can buy them....then when I need some, they are already chopped and can be sauteed, thrown in a pot of soup, etc

Laura, did you know you can freeze tomatoes for later canning. The skins slip right off when thawed, you can throw them in a large slow cook electric roaster, and can up sauces like tomato sauce, sloppy joe sauce. When I am super busy I just wash core and make an x on bottom of tomato and freeze them til I have time to can them. Its a nice late fall project. If I lived near you I would love some of the tomatoes. Lol

    • @lorindav5549
      @lorindav5549 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I have also just washed and frozen tomatoes. When I need more room in the big freezer, I'll take out a shopping bag of tomatoes and allow them to thaw overnight. The more tomatoes you have the bigger of a container you'll need. Once they are mostly thawed, I'll give them a gentle squeeze to remove more of the water and then run them through my Squeezo (tomato mill machine). No need to remove the skins, cores, or seeds, the Squeezo takes care of it. I do run the pulp through at least twice. Makes the freshest tomato sauce ever. You can cook it down further for nice thick sauces or use as really nice spaghetti sauce. I like that it makes it so that I can bottle the sauce when it's cold outside and there is no garden yelling at me to come pick more stuff Now.

👋🌞Good Thursday morning, Laura, Aaron, Paul and tree delivery man!
Nice, soft music and drone footage! SCORE!!!! 👂👂😊🤗 Those maples look stunning in the placements you have them set on. It will be exciting, seeing the growth process! They will make the driveway look so elegant and shaded, once the canopies join!
👋Hi Benjamin! Did you come to help Mama pick tomatoes? What a strong 💪💪 helper you are, carrying that bucket of tomatoes to the gator. Great job!👏👏
👋Hello to the young man , helping Aaron and Paul! Was he a neighbor, nephew or friends' son? I bet his help was appreciated! The 5 trees look great, in the ground! Time for them to get settled into their new home and thrive!
Laura, you will LOVE your vacuum sealer. It keeps whatever you seal, good for so much longer, than regular freezer bags!!! Stuff doesn't get frost burn, as it tends to do in regular freezer bags or grocery store packing. Even buried/forgotten items, in the freezer, don't get ruined. Have fun chopping peppers.
    Have a Blessed and Beautiful day/night 🌞/🌜 ✨️⭐️🌟⭐️✨️ 🌐 everyone!

This reminds me, my 90yo aunt wants to plant an Autumn Blaze maple this fall.
I took her to an enormous garden center a couple months ago for research purposes and the 4th worker we talked to steered her away from the Linden tree my sister had her excited over (I learned it's a Japanese beetle magnet).
At her age, she wanted something that would grow fast and give her west-facing front yard some shade.

Weird. I chop and freeze peppers in a ziploc all the time, just bang the bag on the counter once and they pop apart into pieces immediately. I even make my own 'starter' of chopped onion, peppers, celery and carrots, freeze in a ziploc, bang on the counter, and pour out what I need into a pot or skillet with a little oil to start almost every savory recipe I make!

Love watching how this is all coming along.

Shade trees are awesome. I live in the low desert and trees are life savers. I'm excited to see the increased bird and wildlife activity. I'm glad you don't have venomous snakes where you live, we always check for rattlesnakes before we do anything in the shade

The trees look so pretty! They did such a neat job getting them in the ground! Regarding the tomatoes, I just watched "Roots & Refuge" and she showed how to Core & Store tomatoes. Have you ever heard of that? I thought it was kind of neat.. I know you give a lot of produce away, but it is a good way to store tomatoes in the freezer until you're ready to use them. I didn't know you could do that.

When I lived in Africa we always filled the hole half full of water before planting to make sure the roots had water 👍🏻

Wonderful drone shots! Thanks Aaron 👍🏻. And I wish for more sun, less wet areas lol. You have sooooo many options with all the sun you get-less flowers with shade plants. It would be nice to have a combination of sun and shade. 😊

Laura, it's fantastic that you're putting in those trees that will get really big over time. As once they put on growth, they will allow you to plant some gorgeous & decorative tree specimens that require some sun protection. It's going to look fantastic!
However, With Aaron's love of huge trees, I'm shocked that Aaron didn't plant a couple of the Cedar of Lebanon trees lol. Would definitely have the space for them.
Cannot wait to see them all start to put on growth.

Amaranth can be used fresh in
arrangements or you can dry it to
    be used as an "Everlasting
flower. To dry, simply place them
in a bucket in a warm, dry
place out of direct sunlight, and let them
drape naturally… or hang them upside down
They should dry in about 2 weeks. 26 Aug 2021 wendy

Wow Aaron, loved the camera position on the front of the
tractor/digger. Great perspective to the power of the machine. The trees look really good, like they've always been there.
