For us new gardeners it’s actually really helpful when you show us what plants like geraniums do when you transplant them. I know it’s not pretty. But it’s helpful. Honestly I don’t watch this channel to just see beautiful plants. I watch it for the helpful info you give every time you do plant :) I just wanted to encourage you to keep showing us those things.

We removed about 400 sq ft of grass this year. We terraced part of it and made large beds with a walk way. The wild life exploded! LOTS of hummingbirds, swallowtail and monarch butterflies, and Bees! So many bees, some I've never seen before. All visiting plants that were showcased on GA that are now in my garden. It has been an absolute pleasure to be out there this year, all thanks to Laura and Aaron for the instruction, motivation and encouragement! Thank you!

That's what I needed... manhandling perennials being transplanted. I've been moving several and being so gentle but towards the end I just started pulling and said to them if you make it you make it. Surprisingly everything seems to be making it with plenty of time to get rooted in. My dilemma was that I planted annuals in bare places and to pull them in their glory just felt too wrong... but the perennials needed their spots.

Though you may not like showing us struggling plants and "mistakes" in your landscape, it's makes your videos realistic and is encouraging to tenured and new gardeners! Also, your natural references in various videos to gardening in your previous growing spaces, which were smaller, are also an encouragement to those in a wide range of living and yard spaces. Keep it "real" and natural in ALL ways. I believe that's one reason GA has been such a hit on TH-cam. Blessings from the "still waiting for our two weeks of fall" Deep South.

I thought for many years that we had maple trees in our back yard that was here when we bought our property. I was sure they were maple trees. Same leaf shape, same shades of red in the fall as your sunset maple. Beautiful trees, dark green leaves. Nope. We hired a tree guy to do some trimming this past spring. He told me they are not maples, they’re Sweet Gums. Actually he called them by their nickname, gum balls. I was so surprised. I looked it up and he was right. So, instead of maples, we have Sweet Gums that look like maples, but are native to our area and more hardy. NC Zone 7B. I’m still surprised by that. Lol😊

I literally cut a piece off, flowers or not, and stick it in a pot. They even root if I put them straight in the ground! Also, I've just moved quite a large one in full flower and it's absolutely fine! Love you videos btw!! I always watch with lunch as they come out at 12:00 here😻👍

@@joydavis4087 Oh, you can. I am in 7B and have a gorgeous Autumn Joy that's been growing for years, and just put in an Autumn Fire that the bumblebees are all over -- and it isn't really blooming yet.

@@joydavis4087 I grow sedums in Vancouver BC 7b, and we get a ton of winter and spring rain. I chop my sedum Autumn Joy down by about half in early May (it keeps the stalks more sturdy) and put all the cut stalks in the ground where I want new plants. Most of them turn into new plants. If you don't need new plants, you can pot up the stalks.

Yesterday, it was 15 minutes until the sunset and with the spirit of Garden Answer in me I decided I had moreeee than enough time and strength to movre a viburnum on my own in that time. Well, I am not Garden Answer. It look me WAY longer and I wasn't even able to move the rootball by myself and had to get my partner out to help me haha. These videos sometimes make me overconfident in my abilities, but I love to be inspired all the same.

Careful with Norway maples. They are considered invasive in MA because of the excessive amount of spinners a.k.a seeds that they drop, literally all growing season long. They also don’t “play nice” with other plants. Shallow roots at the surface make it hard to grow even grass. Large leaves make for ver dense shade. Last down side is they change to a drab yellow color and hold on to their leaves late into November. I have 5 mature ones on my property😩

I have an enormous one and baby maples are the worst weed I have. They grow in my coir doormat, in my gutters, in every crack and crevice and all throughout my bed. The backyard is virtually unplantable because of the way it sends roots to choke out any competition. 🤬

Wow lots accomplished this day! I swear Laura gets more done in a day than I get done in a month LOL! Love the new trees but am surprised that they didn't get more of different species. It will be a lot of the Autumn Blaze maples. I come from an area of the country where we lost SO many elm trees to Dutch elm disease and now are losing ash trees to Emerald Ash borer. We have learned that diversity in the selection/planting of trees is best, so you don't put "all your eggs in one basket" so to speak. But I can also see why they would like to mirror the maples along the straight driveway. I'm just amazed at how much this space has evolved in the last year! So beautiful!
