MAMBA, GRIP or FREEWAVE?!

  • This is probably the most frequent question I get asked!
And I honestly don't know the answer! As they are all good in such a wide range of conditions. The only thing I can say is, you won't have made the wrong decision with either of them!
Anyway, here is a long discussion between myself Sam Latham and Nik Baker, regarding the 2022 Fanatic Wave board lineup. And our opinions on them at the south coast where the Worthing Watersports shop is based!
We have a couple in stock, please come and take a look, or we can meet at the beach for a chance to test and try them out with your sails.
    Peace ✌️

Great Video - thanks for Info on Boards - Love Fanatic Boards😍 Getting 2022 Mamba 84 and TXTR 95 any day now !... - hoping and praying that Mamba goes up wind as well as my old 2017 Stubby!

Had a Mamba 94 for a month or so now. Reflections are that it has a wide footstrap stance (uncomfortably so unless rear strap placed at front). It’s more dynamic than my Dyno 95 but it has the common Fanatic traits of being a hard clattery ride unless you have the mast track most/all the way forward - then it settles down a bit. Needs a 21 centre fin for sailing in 5/5.5 M conditions too. Also per other fanatics it gets out of its comfort zone quite quickly - changing down to 85(Dyno) provides a much better session for a 78 kg sailor like me anyways. Fanatic say it’s an evolution of the stubby, but I had a free wave STB that was easy to gyre and keep a carve going, but the Mamba has nice turn in but can come back round on itself - much more like a traditional shaped boards do.

hey dude, thanks for your comments, but im a little supprised. im 74kg and find the board to be increadibly stable. I have my mast track right at the back and moved my fins really far forward. I also have footstraps, one from the front and one from the back on the rear.
Im super impressed with the board and so are all the people i know that have tried it. Maybe the board is a bit big for you? or maybe your sail is set up to give a lot of lift?

Nice one thx. In summary I think the trade off is worth it and will probably get better on days with some actual swell/waves when I can better assess bump and jump etc. It’s got that lively feel I was after which is quite difficult to get in a 95 on a 15/20 mph day 🤩
