Foil Drive Max Power - Worthing
Here is a rough edit of me (Sam) shop owner of Worthing Watersports prone foiling with Foil Drive in Worthing, West Sussex
I cannot express enough how insane this technology and equipment is. Considering the waves were at most chest-high and barely breaking, I had a huge amount of fun. Sup or surf would not have been possible, but the sensation of foiling on poor-quality waves is just electric. I must have caught at least 30 waves.
Now I have gotten used to, and tweaked my set up. I can honestly say it is a game changer for foiling and my time on the water. I am not wasting energy getting out, I am up high, so i can see the sets coming in. I can easily get out back and ride them way before they shoulder up. It is just so much fun.
My camera wasn’t full charged and the memory card was full, but i managed 1.5 hours (13 miles) before my legs gave up. I was using the Foil Drive Max Power and Max Sport batteries, with a 25cm cable.
My board is a Duotone Crush 40l and a Whizz 1000 on a 75cm SLS carbon Quick Mount mast. 60cm fuse. As the session progressed (after the camera died, the waves got bigger and I found the 1000 was giving me too much lift. An 850 for my body weight at 69kg is the right size for medium sized waves.
We have stock on the way of the latest FoilDrive, please get in touch if you have any questions about foil drive or prone surf foiling.

      Heya, I do not think the skybrid is heavy at all. Do the other boards you are comparing to, have footstrap inserts? I would check the weight yourself as sometimes weights online can be inaccurate.

    While awaiting the release of the Blitz, I’m considering “scratching my itch” by replacing my old lightwind staple, the Fanatic Free 1250. It’s been a great all-rounder for many years but lacks glide and pumpability for the lightwind (10-15kn) conditions often found here, which usually coincide with 0.5 m to 1 m swell. Is the Glide 1100 a good replacement for the Free 1250 in the 10-15kn range to carve waves (weight 72kg). Cheers!

    I am 82kg but with equipment and wing in my hand, probably 90kg. I mostly foil on lakes with gusty wind that also can die for a couple of minutes. I would call myself intermediate, what means I can jibe in both direction and also ride on toeside. I tried a 85l Sky Style and I didn't have any problems getting on foil but once the wind died, and I didn't move at all I sunk to the knees (a little bit anoying). Just wondering if should go with the 85l or 100l (only want one board). What would you suggest?

    • @Netgazum
      @Netgazum 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Bro I totally get you on this point. The conditions I sail are similar to what you described and the thought of a sinker board for me is just a flat no way, it to much of a risk if the wind turns off. I am similar weight to you, and I have been looking at this board and I would only consider the 100L as the lower limit for use as my all around board. I have a DW board @105L for really light conditions but yeah no way I would ever consider a sinker with the conditions we have.

      hi. Which foil would you recommend to ride best in light winds? I have the 2000 free. Would I get out of the water faster with the Glide 2.0 in 1350? in combination with my 5.9 free board and 6dlab unit at 88 kilos?

    • @worthingwatersports
      @worthingwatersports 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@fabregasser1313 very good question. The 2000 is a very large foil so will rise early but may not go forward or fast. The 1350 maybe more like the 1500 or 1750 aero free. So maybe not as early lift. But will feel a lot better once going forward and up. I would guess if you can get your technique and ability right. You should be able to get going very early with that 6m dlab and 1350 and you will have a great time! I think the aero free 2000 will rise slightly early but will be slower.

      heya, 5'8 is a very good size for you in light winds. its definitely a safe bet. I have beening winging 5 years, windsurfed for 20, kite foil etc. If I was always on flat or gusty water, I would probably be on the 85l to give me more chance. I have used the 70L which is neutral buoyancy so does work as a one board, but is hard in lighter winds

      If that was directed at me, I use the Fanatic Free and Carve series. The free gets up a bit earlier and is a touch faster, but for rolling around in swell the carves are SO good. Also, I feel the carves are better behaved in chop, where my free 1000 sometimes ventilates. In very light wind it’s hard to beat the Free1250. I haven’t ride any of the very new stuff and probably won’t get the chance for a while now.

    I get the idea of lighter rigs, but brands making boards lighter seems freaking nuts, use the lighter materials to make them stronger and last longer. Eat fewer sausages folks, that will get you planing quicker 🤣

      Heya, interesting thoughts. The new boards are not only lighter, but they are stronger and will last longer. Due to using higher quality materials and high standard manufacturing processes... It is not just to get the boards planning quicker. The 'dink' and dent ability of the new DLABs is much higher than anything before from fanatic/duotone. They are noticeable stiffer even just to touch

      @@worthingwatersports changing from cobra to kinetic is certainly a good move, yet, the lighter boards may be stronger than previous ones but why not increase even more durability when you have the weight advantage? (Note: my Witchcraft driven mindset on this is influencing my viewpoint heavily, I know.)

    Worth playing with shims on your wing and stabiliser when you have the motor in efoil position to reduce the nose lift… personally just about to order a foil drive after spending a few weeks on a Fliteboard ultra (24kg including battery) thanks for the review 👍

    I watched other videos on this, and it appears that maybe you could benefit from moving the mast forward if there's space. Which theoretically should make it less of a bronco on starts.

    My experience FWIW: It's a no brainer to pay the extra for the carbon if you can afford it. The difference in weight over the aluminium even when rigged on a wing is very noticeable. The Platinum SLS feels great in the shop and on that basis, I purchased one. However, after trying it out on the water, and much to my surprise, I discovered that I preferred my old standard Platinum. I found the grip on the SLS too small. It felt like, in an exaggerated example, trying to hold onto a pencil. And that's from someone who immediately jumped onto the Windsurfing Hawaii reduced diameter 'Power Taper' booms back in the days of windsurfing. Maybe it is different for those people who use an overhand grip for their front hand? Or maybe I am just the rare exception.

      The difference in weight is only .5lbs/340grams between alu and platinum SLS. .79lbs/357grams between alu and platinum. You can feel the difference in weight once you strap it to a 4.5lb/2.05kg wing?
