Underrated movie. So many people claim recent versions of Batman are better, but this one had a successful trilogy. Say that when they can carry three solo movies.
They were good movie but they literally weren't Batman. Even the comic writers said it's weird it's a bad interpretation. Batman famously doesn't talk. Nolan's Batman never shuts up. Love how everyone misreads the "Robin" ending. He's not Robin, as in Dick Grayson, he's the new Batman. The "Robin" name is a symbol for his arc and the change he's made, and represents the passing of the torch.
@@jamesf1558 The whole point of the ending is that Batman lives on, but Bruce doesn't need to be him. Bruce can get his happy ending without Batman dying. Gotham needs Batman, but it doesn't need Bruce Wayne. John Blake is what Bruce always wanted from Batman. Batman finally becomes the symbol that Bruce wanted it to be, able to be passed on, because the man behind it isn't important. It ends with Bruce turning Wayne Manor into an orphanage, and having the Bat-Signal fixed, ready for use when Batman comes back, a Batman not from privilege or wealth, but an orphan from the slums, having Batman become the outlet for the oppressed to become heroes themselves. He still holds the same value for the story, and represents why Robin matters in the same way as Dick Grayson, but he doesn't actually become Robin, otherwise his name wouldn't have been Robin.
Many people missed the part Bruce fixed the autopilot. He didn't survived the atomic bomb. He was never there. Probably jumped off halfway. I mean yeah it wouldn't make sense Batman using his Bat plane without autopilot.
This was my favourite of the trilogy, and the one I’ve watched most. Zimmer’s score progression elevates the ending to goosebumps territory even a decade later
In the comics Catwoman was sort of an antihero who was romantically linked with Batman. In fact Ras Al Ghul's daughter Talia was also linked to Batman.
One of my favorite endings in the batman series next to dark knight but the amount of reactors that don't listen the last 5 minutes of the movie. Just blows me away. "But howw. Welp, about 10 seconds ago they gave a pretty big tip on how."
Bruce: "as a symbol I can be incorruptible, I can be everlasting." Batman Begins: he rises to the fame as crimefighter. The Dark Knight: he falls on disgrace wrongly accused of Dent's crimes. The Dark Knight Rises: Bane's exonerates Batman for reading Gordon's papers, restoring him to the people and he dies in an atomic explosion to save Gotham. Batman: an incorruptible, everlasting symbol.
So many people missed that the autopilot was fixed and at the ending they were surprised that Bruce was still alive. Since the autopilot was fixed, it would make sense that Bruce set the autopilot to fly out over the ocean while he ejected out a few miles out before the bomb went off.
The young woman who had the first reaction should’ve watched a film better because before you see Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle you see them at the cockpit of the aircraft and they tell you that the auto pilot has been fixed so he set the autopilot and jumped out so he was nowhere near the nuclear explosion
There were four people present at the funeral of Bruce. To each one, he left something significant.. To Alfred, he left the assurance that he was ok and was focussing on his self, health and family. To Commissioner Gordon, he left a savior in the form of Robin. For gotham, hope still remained. To Fox, he left the peace of mind that the tech was fixed and that there was nothing more that anyone could have done. To Robin, he left the chance to become who he was destined to be. To make a difference where it mattered, to help the city of Gotham. And that is how the greatest ending of all the movies ever created, was designed and executed. Take a bow, C.Nolan!
These little reaction collections are great. Hey, ReactTV, you should do the quick draw contest between Doc Holliday and Johnny Ringo at the end of Tombstone.
I have rarely felt such satisfaction as Batman not perishing in the inferno of the atomic bomb explosion. Catwoman finally had the support she was so desperately looking for and has now found. Alfred was finally able to let go of the feeling of guilt. Gordon knows that Batman's possible help is available to him. The musical background is simply gigantic. This shows once again why Zimmer is a genius. This is the conclusion of a truly brilliant trilogy that, in my opinion, couldn't be better.
The Christopher Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy is the most accurate depiction of Batman if he exists in reality, not the fictional version from Zack Snyder or the one portrayed by Robert Patinson. Absolutely. Fucking. Brilliant.
It was revealed in the movie that the flaw with the auto pilot had been solved. We don't see him eject, and it's not for certain he did. That last scene is possibly not reality. But I like to think it is.
Robin goes up to Bruce afterwards and is like “I can’t believe it, how did you survive that?” Camera zooms in on Bruce’s face and with a smile he says “I’m Batman.” Credits roll.
Such a wasted opportunity. We could have had more of this version of the DC universe. I so wanted to see Joseph Gordon Levitt as Robin or possibly NIGHTWING!!!
For anyone who’s still confused as to how THE DARK KNIGHT RISES ended.. It’s an Inception style ending. Christopher Nolan has confirmed this, himself. He said that it leaves it open to interpretation, so that people can view the ending how they WANT to view it. Did he escape or did he die in the explosion? 🤷🏻♂️ It depends on what you want to believe.
And the Dark Knight Rises. With Robin as the new.. funny people never pick up on it. Like Ras Agul turn it over to the League of Shadows. Batman just turned it over too. No one ever comments on this. And there is hope that Bruce isnt quite done

As good as this ending is, I still think that the choice to actually show Bruce and Selina at the restaurant was a mistake. If Nolan hadn't shown it, there'd be debates for decades whether or not he really survived. It would have made the ending much more powerful imo.
I still think the perfect ending to this perfect ending would have been to cut to credits as soon as Alfred looks at the camera and smiles without showing Bruce and Selina
I know the 3rd movie was going for maximum commercial appeal.... But the ending would've been literally perfect if everything was just done more subtly. "Try my legal name" "hm, like the bird?" "Uhh no, looks like it's been fixed for a while, sir" And showing Wayne at the cafe at all was gratuitous. The best ending would've been Alfred's initial shock turning into a smile before rolling the credits. Maybe add in Selina Kyle walking towards Bruce from behind Alfred if you want to make sure the audience knows they ended up happy and together.
I saw this with my Uncle, his girlfriend at the time, his girlfriend’s friend, and my Grandmother like a week or so after it came out. My Uncle’s girlfriend’s friend was BAWLING her eyes out, and when we ALL saw that Bruce was still alive, me and my Uncle’s girlfriend were laughing at her when we saw that he was still alive.
